BGL...

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING - Artikel von Troy Schwensen zu Gold und XAU
Zitat: The interesting thing is when we look at the XAU/Gold ratio we can see we are closer to the Buying Zone rather than the Selling Zone (Something we have not witnessed during the bull market thus far). Increased volatility is generally associated with big and fast movements. Precious metals equities tend to fall much faster than they rise, due primarily to these increased volatility levels at market tops. It is my belief what we are seeing right now is this same phenomena but in a bullish context, rather than a bearish one. This seems to be supported by the recent surge we have been seeing by the major precious metals companies (10%+ increases in 1 day have not been uncommon). With a XAU/Gold ratio at just 0.22 this would indicate that we have some ways to go before the major Gold shares will start to look expensive relative to the Gold price. At present Gold prices we should start to see some impressive profit reports over the next 3-6 months which should translate into further increases.

Aber nächstes Jahr will man (angeblich :D) in Produktion gehen. ---Schaumermal.

Also mach dir keine Sorgen.

GMX.TO: Übersicht über die wichtigsten Aktivitäten
A Personal Note from the President of Globex to Shareholders (zu finden auf der Homepage http://www.globexmining.com/)
...it is clear that Globex has sufficient cash and no debts. We have developed a revenue stream which should come into full force in 2008 while other potential revenue streams, mainly gold, are progressing toward possible production. We have increased our asset base. We are exploring for our own account. In other words, we are doing what we said we would do, creating shareholder value. Yes that value goes up and down with metal prices and the Canadian dollar but this is in the normal course of business. For shareholders who have the stamina and long term vision, we are working for you as well as ourselves. Those day traders or shorters who don't share our vision have used the present uncertain market conditions to hurt the Company and its shareholders. There is little we can do to stop that other than try to get the story out and explain the exceptional value in Globex which we are unlocking over time....

Tschonko, Nugget,

HUI - Correction Over!
Charts von Eric Hommelberg
Na also

Und Steve Saville schreibt:
As noted earlier in today's report, if the gold sector quickly loses another 10% or so then it will be at the sort of oversold extreme that should be bought. Actually, the exploration-stage end of the gold universe is ALREADY at such an extreme. While the HUI has only just breached support and is still a very long way above the panic low of August, the exploration-stage stocks are in roughly the same situation now as they were at the height of the August panic. The difference is that they reached an ultra-depressed condition in a mad rush during August whereas they have reached a similar condition via a slow and arduous decline over the past couple of months. For investors with substantial exposure to the gold (and silver) explorers, August was like having a tooth pulled whereas the past several weeks have been like Chinese water torture.
The small gold/silver stocks could weaken further if the gold-stock indices continue their declines over the next couple of weeks, particularly since we are now in the midst of tax-loss season. However, many small-caps have that 'sold out' look about them and managed to resist the downward pull of the big-cap gold stocks during the final two days of last week. It's possible, therefore, that we have finally reached the point where the upward pressure exerted by the buying of longer-term value-oriented investors is offsetting the downward pressure exerted by the general public's towel-throwing (most members of the investing public are not longer-term value-oriented investors, even if they think they are).

Artikel über die Kosten der Minengesellschaften - von Andrew Mickey, Editor, Small-Cap Commodity Prospector
Why the Commodities Supercycle Just Got Longer
The term “supercycle” has been batted around the commodities world for a couple of years now. To be honest, the term just reminded me of the dot-com days when we invented new terms and valuation techniques like price-to-eyeballs that allowed us to justify valuations that we now realize were completely absurd.
As a result, I wasn’t willing to recommend going headlong into the commodities market. There were bound to be a few isolated opportunities in the sector as we neared the end of the commodities cycle.
One-hundred dollar oils and sky-high commodities prices would eventually prove to be a drag on the world economy and commodity prices would fall due to lowered demand from a world economy that isn’t growing quite as fast. It’s Adam Smith’s invisible hand at work.
But that all changed three weeks ago when a company in British Columbia, NovaGold (NG:AMEX) shocked the commodities world. NovaGold and its partner, Teck Cominko (TKC:NYSE), announced they would shutting down operations in Galore Creek copper-gold-silver project in northwestern British Columbia.
Galore Creek was supposed to be one of the largest new mines in the world. It was expected to be so profitable that building a new road, a new power plant and all the other infrastructure necessary for a mine would be more than offset by the value of the mine’s production.
It was so valuable that NovaGold was able to contract two of the world’s largest helicopters to transport large earthmoving and construction equipment into the remote Galore Creek region. That was how value the property was. Trucks and bulldozers were actually flown in while the road was being built.
The size and value of the project was more than offset the initial capital costs, which were slated to come in at about $2 billion. But it wasn’t long until the costs started getting really out of hand. As the Canadian dollar rose in value, costs of putting the mine into production soared to an expected $5 billion and the expected profit margins from the mine shrank.
With a $5 billion cost necessary to get the mine up and running, it just didn’t make sense economically. So it was shut down midstream.
On top of that, Teck Cominco, which was funding a large portion of the capital costs out of its own pocket, already saw the costs at its other projects soar. In fact, it was already spending more than 150% of what originally had budgeted in 2007. And that increase was just necessary to keep on line with its timelines and projections.
Over the past weeks, I’ve been crisscrossing Vancouver, visiting dozens of mining companies, and there is only one focus: capital costs. Since many advance-stage projects have to raise a few hundred million dollars to go into production or close down altogether, we’re at a major turning point in the current commodities up cycle.
There is one top consideration that has to be made when choosing mining stocks: capital costs. Early-stage exploration is still going to have some big winners, but anything that’s been around for a few years is going to have to go big or go home.
So what does all this mean? First, it confirms the commodities supercycle. The high capital costs are going to delay a lot of projects that were scheduled to go into production and bring more supply of copper, nickel, molybdenum, oil… pretty much every commodity.
However, a lot of exploration companies are going to experience what NovaGold has gone through in this commodities cycle, which is already going to be a long one -- and could even be longer than we ever expected.
Sure, at Small-Cap Commodity Prospector we’ll have to be even more selective. We’ve got the wind at our backs with news like this. The commodities bull market has even more years left in it now. As expenses continue to rise and reduce the number of economically viable projects, the commodities sector is going to be one of the top places to have your money.

Here is how I look at it. Goldcorp inherited this project, along with many others. They had nothing to lose while SNN was spending all the money to earn their interest. Goldcorp is a company that does not want to play around with minority interests in large projects. Either they run the show or they do not get involved. Their strategy at Cerro De Gallo was obvious: they sat around waiting for SNN to finish the work, and then were hoping to buy the whole thing out cheaply. The problem is that SNN is majority owned by the Bolnisi Group, and is fully funded. So they could not close out a hostile takeover, and they could not waitout SNN as cash burned on a one-trick pony. In the end, they packed up their toys and went home, leaving SNN to eventually gain ownership of the entire deposit.
Its that simple, IMO. Some people interpret that Goldcorp is walking away because they have no confidence in CDG. I beg to differ. If you look at the two biggest projects they are developing in Mexico, El Sauzel and Penasquito, they are both similar stories. Low sulfidation, low grade, disseminated gold-silver-base metals ore. I would also add that each of them underwent thorough exploration for many years to define the large bulk tonnage resource. As further work is completed at CDG, I would suggest that the potential is real for a similar size and resource deposit to be outlined. I am sure Goldcorp finds the deposit attractive, but it does not fit into their development strategy so they have gone in a different direction.
One of the reasons I bought SNN is becasue they had raised a huge pile of cash to allow for funding an aggressive exploration program without dilution. The company does not effectively promote itself and that is why the share price is low right now. But I believe they have some new discoveries which will be announced in 2008, and there is time to crank up the promo wagon and move the stock much higher, effectively on the back of what could be one of the largest undeveloped deposits in North America. They will not have to go to market anytime soon, and when they do, they could probably raise another $5 million with minimal dilution.
I also believe the company will have no trouble attracting a senior partner that does want to work with them when the time comes, or they could just vend off their bigger slice of the pie any of a dozen companies that would be happy to carry the ball.
I do not speak on behalf of SNN and have no relationship with the company. Please take my comments as an opinion. I have never sold a single share of this company and I am prepared to stick around for the long term.
cheers!
