As above, the company had assets valued at C$809,031,000. However, it had total liabilities of C$315,236,000, leaving it with a net asset value of $493,795,000. With just under 100 million shares outstanding, that would have left the company with a per-share net worth of approximately C$4.95, compared to its price at the end of June of C$9.50. In other words, the stock was selling at quite a premium to its NAV

To be sure, this may be an excellent opportunity to buy this stock and hold it for longer-term gains. If we are heading toward higher and higher rates of inflation, I have no doubt Mr. Inwentash will do very well with Pinetree Capital. If on the other hand we once again head toward a financial market meltdown, we think your entire capital could be at risk. If you want to ride Pinetree to much higher levels, be my guest.

The other day on CNBC the talking heads were marveling how well the stock market was acting and how it was holding up. Meanwhile, there was an article on the Bullion Desk this morning decrying how lousy gold was acting, as it has every reason to be flying.

Talk about the disingenuous in the Planet Wall Street crowd. Could they be that dumb? It’s so simple. It’s called the PPT, Working Group on Financial Market and Gold Cartel gang doing their thing and it's ALL in the public domain…

    Mr Murphy,

CNBC just conducted an interview with Henry Paulson. Mr. Paulson was stating what is being done to ASSIST the markets. Among the items being done, he stated: "...we have re-energized the President's Working Group on Financial Markets...".

Has Mr. Paulson admitted that he is a "conspiracy theorist" and believes in the PPT?

Of course, Steve Liesman just completely ignored this unbelievable admission of "market manipulation".

Personally, I felt that Mr. Paulson looked nervous and SCARED and possibly had not intended to make this statement.

Amidst reports today that the Swiss Central Bank sold no less than 34.1 tonnes of gold during the month of July - and Mineweb's earlier report of the Spanish Central Bank selling 25 tonnes, it is apparent from Central Bank Gold Agreement figures that Agreement signatories sold a total of 67 tonnes of gold during July, with the other 8 tonnes arising from smaller sales by other unspecified Central Banks.

Switzerland announced relatively recently that it planned to sell 250 tonnes of gold by the end of the 2009 sales period, but the level of sales in July exceeded expectations. If it carries on selling at this rate, the Swiss Central Bank will have offloaded its 250 tons by the end of January next year! :D

"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value”

~ Allan Greenspan in The Objectivist newsletter published in 1966.

Last Wednesday, August 15th, was a significant anniversary, known only to a few. This was the day, 36 years ago, that President Richard Nixon “closed the gold window” by Executive Order. That meant that foreign countries could no longer exchange their dollar reserves for gold. This decision was made without consulting members of the international monetary system or even conferring with the State Department. It was thought to be merely a political slap at French president Charles DeGaulle, who was demanding gold for France’s dollar reserves. As of that day, the US dollar (and the world’s reserve currency) became a fiat currency, which enabled its creation in unlimited amounts of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I would like to show you the size of this financial weapon of mass destruction. In the credit default swaps business there are only 14 meaningful dealers, of which only 5 count. Think of that. Dwell on that "minimum dealer numbers - maximum financial destruction

These numbers have been mainly created by 5 of the most prestigious names in finance....... (the private banks called Fed)
All 5 will fail unless college boy Ben and the rest of the Central Banks light a fire to the US dollar.
These houses cannot fail without throwing the entire financial system into a catastrophe so they will not fail at any cost to the public.

    gutso

Fehlt nur mehr ein zweites Enron.

Da kommt noch mehr ans Licht.

    Der CEO laesst gruessen :D
