Dazu Merriman :
Uranus and Neptune is also the quest for world peace, and once again we see protest marches (against war, against anything restrictive) on the rise throughout the world. There were large protests in Europe last week ahead of the G-8 summit, where the theme was climate control. And according to Friday’s Wall Street Journal, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is now facing large student protests against his power grip over that country. The increase in active protests is not only a theme of Uranus and Neptune in mutual reception, whose primary goal is world peace and a safer (cleaner) environment. It is also related to Saturn in opposition to Uranus, which is the last of the “triple Saturn” oppositions taking place 2008-2010. You may remember the protests around the world that took place under the last opposition of these two planets in 1965-1967. It was a time of much unrest, change, and excitement.
The same themes are returning again, and with them, similar opportunities for long-term investment.

Astrologe Merriman schreibt ganz treffend dazu :

...this can correlate to a period of “lost faith” in both systems and people that one previously relied upon.
As the earthquake-like T-square of the Sun-Jupiter-Uranus ends this weekend, we start to prepare for the next Mercury retrograde period (June 15-July 9), and the third and final passage of the Saturn-Neptune opposition (June 25). This forthcoming Mercury retrograde date of June 15 may be important, for it falls just one trading day prior to the midpoint of the entire geocosmic cluster now underway (June 4-July 1), as discussed last week.
In the case of Mercury retrograde, we can anticipate more failures in technical signals.
This is a period when support and resistance zones are oftentimes violated, or fail to be tested at all as other technical signals would have suggested.
Our policy is simple: trade very short-term during this period, taking profits quickly. Or take a vacation.

This is not usually an easy period for position traders or investors, as economic and political news items seem to be contradictory.
And at the end of long-term cycles, people tend to lose faith too, once the dominance of the downfall starts to pick up steam. But then again, with the possibility that the Saturn-Neptune opposition instead correlates with the manipulation of stock markets by something referred to as the “Plunge Protection Team (PPT),” we may never see a full-fledged bear market prior to the 2008 elections.
The PPT cannot afford to allow stock prices to cave in and thus set off the type of panic and hysteria otherwise suggested by the opposition of Saturn and Neptune....end

Gold isn't profitable anymore, Spanish economy minister says

From Libertad Digital, Madrid
Friday, June 8, 2007http://www.libertaddigital.com…s/noticia_1276307283.html
SOLBES SAYS GOLD IS NO LONGER PROFITABLE
Bank of Spain once again sells important amounts of gold in May
The Bank of Spain's gold reserves continue to dwindle. Not only did it manage to sell 20 percent of its reserves in only two months (March and April), it continued fast-paced sales in May: 28 tons.
Economy Minister Pedro Solbes claims the sales are for making the reserves profitable, but analysts foresee further rises in gold, the price of which could reach $2,000. (It currently trades at $661.50).
The Bank of Spain sold 28 tons of gold in May, as revealed by the latest Reserve Assets Report, in addition to the 80 tons sold in the months of March and April. Thus, in three months the Bank of Spain has parted with 25 percent of its gold assets.
Last Wednesday, Partido Popular Sen. Javier Sánchez Simón queried Economy Minister Pedro Solbes regarding the regulatory body's reasons for the March and April gold sales. Solbes' response was that "the intention with selling gold, an unprofitable asset, is to convert it to fixed-income bonds, which are profitable." Solbes added, "Based on this legal framework, the Bank of Spain has carried out a strengthening process of its equity situation, attempting to improve the profitability of its assets."
"Gold is no longer profitable," Solbes categorically stated.
The sales have continued in May.
... Gold could reach 2000 euros per ounce
Gold is a monetary asset and was in fact the foundation of national currencies, together with silver, until the central banks started decoupling the currencies from the metals. Nevertheless, gold still has a great deal of importance, as shown in 1980; at that time it managed to trade close to $860, which would equal about $2,000 in 2006 dollars.
Several experts believe that excess US dollar liquidity, the increasingly clear weakness of that currency, and inflation forecasts would lead one to think that many investors might once again seek shelter in gold. In this case, it could once again reach levels such as those seen in 1980. If that were the case, the profitability reasons would not be so clear.
A report last year issued by Credit Agricole's British bank Cheuvreux indeed pointed to the possibility of a $2,000/oz. price, given that gold serves as an "early crisis alert" and that currently "there is a 700-ton deficit of supply versus demand." The report believes that actual central bank reserves could be around 10,000 to 15,000 tons less than the 31,000 acknowledged that year.
There are several analysts who observe an agreed and coordinated behavior by central banks to sell gold, to prevent its price from rising too much and acting as a warning of a potential financial crisis.
Such is the position of the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee (GATA) and analysts such as John Embry. However, these ideas are not universally shared.
... Central bank sales
On September 26, 1999, 14 European central banks plus the European Central Bank signed the Central Bank Gold Agreement, in which they agreed to limit overall gold sales to 400 tons per year. When approaching expiry in 2004, the agreement was renewed, but with an increase of the yearly maximum sales amount from 400 to 500 tons among the 15 central banks.
Sales for 2006 reached 390 tons, but recent information indicates that the central banks may once again increase their sales levels to the 500-ton maximum.
Nevertheless, not all central banks have the same policy. Market sources point out that Russia, world's fifth-largest gold producer, bought its entire 2006 production to deposit it at the nation's central bank. In 2006 Russia's gold and currency reserves increased by $121.5 billion dollars, a 66.7 percent year-on-year increase.

That could also be the case for China, although the country's opacity prevents knowing with certainty.

The Council on Foreign Relations states the following on their website:
“Three former high-ranking government officials from Canada, Mexico, and the United States call for a North American economic and security community by 2010 to address shared security threats, challenges to competitiveness, and interest in broad-based development across the three countries.”
“North America is vulnerable on several fronts: the region faces terrorist and criminal security threats, increased economic competition from abroad, and uneven economic development at home. In response to these challenges, a trinational, Independent Task Force on the Future of North America has developed a roadmap to promote North American security and advance the well-being of citizens of all three countries.” - May 2005 task force report Building a North American Community published by the Council on Foreign Relations
I refute these assertions categorically.
The biggest terrorist and criminal threat we face in North America is from the US government itself. There is a long history of false flag operations or self inflicted wounds like 9-11 committed by this country, so having us join them would surely not mitigate that threat, rather it would increase.
As far as competition or uneven economic development, the market will have to take care of any imbalances within itself. Just because the economy is not doing so well right now is no excuse to do away with a sovereign country, or abrogate our rights as a free individuals, or steal our resources. There is no reason to believe that secretly plotting to merge these nations against the will of their citizens would advance the well-being of anyone, instead, it would destroy our heritage and turn us all into slaves of a corporate fascist state. No thanks. Same goes for the plans to adopt a new common currency for all 3 countries, as if we should have anything to do with the corruption tied to the Federal Reserve System. I would rather not have any part of a nation that can remove people from their home, torture and imprison them, and then deny them any right to a fair trial. What happened to sweet land of liberty, oh right, that’s just a song...more here

Iran warns US... again
2007-6-9 20:27
Tehran - A senior Iranian official on Saturday renewed Tehran's threat to target US interests around the world if the United States attacked the Islamic Republic over its nuclear programme, Fars News Agency reported.
Washington accuses Iran of seeking to develop atomic weapons, a charge Tehran denies. Although US officials insist they want a diplomatic resolution, they have not ruled out military action if deemed necessary.
"In case of an American attack against Iran, the interests of this country around the world and in the region will be endangered," Mohammad Baqer Zolghadr, a deputy Interior Minister for security affairs, was quoted as saying.
"Today, all American bases in the region are within the reach of our medium-range weapons," said Zolghadr, former deputy commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
"Today, if the slightest disorder in the region's security and in the security of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf is created, oil prices will reach $250 a barrel and this will lead to the death of European countries and America in terms of economy and security," he added.
Worries about any supply disruption from the world's fourth biggest oil exporter, Iran, have been one of the factors helping to prop up oil prices. US crude is now around $65 a barrel.
"Maybe the start of an evil act (could) be in America's hand but its continuation and end won't be (in its hands)," he said.
Iran's highest authority, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said in February the Islamic Republic would target US interests around the world if it was attacked.

2 shot in Cape hostage drama
2007-6-9 18:32
Cape Town
Two people have been shot in an ongoing hostage drama at a Cape Town restaurant, Western Cape police confirmed on Saturday night.
A person inside the restaurant had been shot in the leg, said Inspector Bernadine Steyn. She would not elaborate. The wounded man was thought to be a members of staff there, but this has yet to be confirmed.
Steyn confirmed that a passerby had been hit by a stray bullet. The woman had been taken to hospital.
The hostage situation began at 10:00. Police arrived on the scene at noon.
Shortly after 18:00, the situation remained "the same", she said.
Asked whether there were four hostages in the restaurant, Steyn said: "That is an allegation.".
Asked to confirm reports that the incident was sparked by a domestic dispute, she said: "That is still under investigation.".
Steyn said hostage negotiations were no longer inside the restaurant, where they had earlier spoken to the hostage-taker.
It was understood - but unconfirmed - that there was a heavily-armed police swat team in the vicinity of the restaurant where a crowd of 100 had gathered to watch the drama unfold.
Steyn said the incident was taking place "at a restaurant next to a bank in Cape Town's Long Street", but would not divulge its name.
The restaurant described would be Nyoni's Kraal.

Gruss
