Claude Resources Inc. is engaged in the acquisition, exploration and development of precious metal properties, the acquisition and development of oil and gas properties and the production and marketing of minerals, oil, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and natural gas. The majority of the Company's mineral properties are in northern Saskatchewan, northern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. The Company is the sole owner and operator of the Seabee mine, located 125 kilometers northeast of LaRonge, Saskatchewan. This operation has been in production since December 1991, producing 675,000 ounces of gold to December 31, 2003. Claude through its wholly owned subsidiary, 574095 Alberta Ltd., owns and administers its oil, NGLs and gas property interests in Alberta. These properties interests in Alberta are operated by others and combined with oil interests operated by the Company in southeastern Saskatchewan produced 91,200 barrels of oil and NGLs and 800,000 thousand cubic feet of gas. For the three fiscal year ended December 31, 2003, gold sales accounted for 68% of the Company's revenues while oil, NGLs and gas sales accounted for 27%, 26% and 32% of the revenues, respectively. Mineral Properties The Company's mineral property portfolio includes Seabee, a producing gold mine, and a portfolio of exploration properties in Canada, most of which are located in the Provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Claude has assembled the majority of its property portfolio around three areas, the Seabee mine in Saskatchewan, the Tartan Lake mine in Manitoba and the Madsen mine in Ontario. At each of the three sites, Claude owns a mill and equipment that could potentially be used to process ore from any economic ore body found within the portfolio of properties clustered around it, either by relocating the mill and equipment to the economic ore body or by transporting the ore to the current mill site. As of December 31, 2003, only the Seabee mine contains an economic body of ore and is producing gold. Except for the Seabee mine, all of the Company's mining properties are at the exploration stage and do not contain any proven ore bodies. Among the exploration projects, several are considered core projects and will receive the majority of Claude's exploration budget and focus for the foreseeable future. The Seabee mine is located at Laonil Lake, Saskatchewan, approximately 125 kilometers northeast of the town of La Ronge. Claude commenced commercial production at the mine in December 1991. Since start-up, the mine has produced nearly 675,000 ounces of gold, including 50,800 ounces sold in 2003. The Seabee mine produces gold from two different but contiguous properties. The original 10 quartz claims covering the mine site were consolidated into a single mineral lease (ML 5519) of approximately 201 hectares granted by the Crown on November 25, 1999. The Madsen properties comprise of six contiguous claim blocks totaling approximately 10,000 acres (4,047 hectares) located in the Red Lake Mining District of northwestern Ontario. The properties are the Buffalo property, the Starratt-Olsen property, the Aiken-Russett property, the Redaurum property, the Hagar Option property and the Madsen property. Included on the southwestern part of the Madsen properties is the Madsen gold mine on care and maintenance. Claude acquired the properties through its acquisition of Madsen Gold Corp. in 1998. Tartan Lake is a 6,675 acre property located in northwestern Manitoba about 12 kilometers northeast of Flin Flon. The property consists of 20 claims, three quarry leases and contains the Tartan Lake mine, a former gold operation that produced 48,000 ounces of gold before production was suspended in 1989. The property also contains a mill and tailings pond. Claude acquired the property, mill and equipment at Tartan Lake from Vista Gold Corp, an arms-length public company, in exchange for 999,444 common shares of Claude. Oil and Gas Activities Claude produces crude oil, NGLs and natural gas from properties situated in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Alberta properties represent 88% of Claude's oil and NGLs reserves and 87% of total production. Saskatchewan properties represent 12% of Claude's oil reserves and 13% of total production. Alberta properties represent 100% of Claude's natural gas reserves and production. The Company's Alberta oil and gas properties are operated by others. The Company holds a 7.89% interest in the Edson Gas Unit No. 1 and a 7.18% interest in the Edson Gas Plant. The unit covers about five townships 125 kilometers northwest of Calgary, Alberta. The production comes from the Elkton and Shunda formations at a depth of 10,000 feet. Claude has a 75% interest in six producing vertical oil wells in the Gainsborough area of southeastern Saskatchewan and two former producing wells that have been converted to injector wells. Oil production comes from two zones in the Frobisher/Alida formation at a depth of 3,500 feet. During 1996, Claude together with the other partners in the Gainsborough Property, entered into a farm-in letter agreement with Provident Energy Ltd. whereby Provident was granted the right to earn a 55% interest in the Gainsborough Property, excluding the seven vertical wells then producing. In order to earn its interest, Provident was required to complete a horizontal test well on the Gainsborough Property. Provident has fulfilled its obligations and has thereby earned a 55% interest in the Gainsborough Property, excluding the seven vertical wells then producing. Subsequently, Provident drilled an additional four horizontal (three are currently producing) wells in which Claude owns a 33.75% working interest.

Hallo

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Welcome to RSA
Again there have been electricity blackouts in the Western Cape. My dentist sent his patients home because he cannot work his drill, which runs off air from a compressor driven by electricity.
Households, shops, factories and motorists are suffering. I wish I could say that the troubles will all be over soon but I fear that this is only the beginning and they are going to get worse in the years to come.
The reason for the crisis is simply that South Africa does not have enough power stations and transmission lines to cope with the present load.
Ten years ago you could see the load steadily growing and predict that by 2005 the power stations would not be able to meet it. Ten years ago Eskom should have been planning new stations.
Instead nothing was done and we are now in trouble.
There's trouble ahead
Ten years ago Eskom should have been planning new stations. Instead nothing was done and we are now in trouble.
The background to this week's blackouts is the status of Koeberg Nuclear Power Station near Cape Town. Koeberg has two units of 900 megawatt each.
Unit 1 was down for refuelling at the end of last year when it was discovered that a loose bolt had done serious damage to its generator and the outage was prolonged to replace or repair it. Unit 2 was running but due to shut down for refuelling in March 2006.
A unit tripped
Last Saturday a unit at Kendall coal power station in Mpumalanga tripped. This caused a voltage instability on the grid that became worse when it reached Koeberg in the Western Cape (distance tends to amplify electrical instability). The electrical protection shut down the generator on Koeberg's Unit 2.
On Sunday, when it was preparing to come back, two big transmission lines between the Western Cape and Mpumalanga failed because a build up of dust, ash from fires and moisture caused shorting across their insulators. This shut down Unit 2 again.
So now both of Koeberg's units were down and the blackouts began all over the Western Cape.
On Monday, an Eskom spokesman assured us that Unit 2 would be back the next day and all would be well. his did not happen.
It takes time to bring back a reactor
The reason is that it takes a long time to bring back a nuclear unit after going down close to the end of the fuel's life. (You have to reduce the boron in the primary water to very low levels, which takes time.)
This was on top of the long series of safety checks required before a nuclear unit can start up. It eventually started up on Thursday.
There was never the slightest danger from Koeberg. Unfortunately there was great inconvenience and economic harm.
And I'm afraid there is worse ahead.
Unit 2 is due for refuelling in March, although this could be stretched until April or May by running on reduced power. I doubt very much whether the generator for Unit 1 will be ready before June.
So we face the likely prospect of both units being down in the approach to winter, with a higher electricity demand than now, and with the near certainty of more black outs.
Koeberg is not to blame
Apart from the fallen bolt, Koeberg is not to blame. It has run very well in the past but it has a capacity of 1 800 MW and is the only station in the west of South Africa, which has a demand of over 4 000 MW.
It is at the end of long and inadequate transmission lines connected to the big coal stations in the north east. The grid is unhealthy with over-load.
When any unit up north goes down, the country catches a cold. When a unit at Koeberg goes down, the Western Cape gets pneumonia.

Well, over and out, its time for a long break.
Vielleicht tut das den Aktien, PoG/PoS auch gut.
