85.1 mil shares fully diluted Aug. 2004
    @ $.11/share Cdn x .82 US/Cdn = $.09
    $8 mil MC
    http://www.redfern.bc.ca/proje…on_resources.html#results
    TULSEQUAH: 9 mil tonnes indicated and inferred at 107.5 g/t x .03215
= 31 mil ounces silver (3.4 oz/ton low grade silver, with other minerals)
(also have significant gold ($30/ton at $400/oz.) and zinc $60/ton at $.46/lb.)
    728,000 oz of Gold x 10 = 7.3 mil "silver equiv"
= 38.3 mil oz. silver equiv.
    $8 mil MC / 38.3 mil oz = $.20/oz.
You get "approx" 34.6 ounces in the ground for 1 oz. silver's worth of stock.

Additional comments: Declared not feasible enough to do a feasiblity study in Spring, 2005. So, they may try to expand the resources.

RDV has a "gold bonus". At $409/ gold, and $6.50/oz. silver, it's about $300 million worth of gold, and $200 million worth of silver, or about 60% of the value is in the gold. Since my method really undercounts the gold, this means there is a significant "gold bonus" here.

Well, new world class gold discoveries over the next 18 months to two years is a long time and even then it still takes another 4 – 7 years in order to build a mine. So with that in mind and South African Gold production falling of a cliff (see chapter IV Gold & Supply) it ain’t hard to understand why new discoveries are wanted desperately and why juniors making discoveries are appreciating in price so fast.

OK you’ll say, I agree but which company could bring me a major discovery ?

Well, to be honest, that’s of course the $64 mio question… we all want to know who’s next but unfortunately picking the real winners isn’t easy… Nevertheless a company I’m quite confident of in succeeding doing so is SAMEX Mining Corp. It seems that their Los Zorros property in Chile could host a multi million ounce gold deposit indeed but they have to prove it up… SAMEX literally said in their latest press release of Sept 9, 2005 :

If the gold-rich mantos layer should prove to be extensive beneath much of the NORA prospective area that measures 1,200 meters by 1,000 meters (See Figures A, C & D) and maintains the average thickness intersected (0.51 oz/mt) , a large target of 20 million to greater than 25 million metric tons could be present (a possible multi-million ounce high-grade gold deposit). END.

The potential target size is based on a model developed by the Company using available geological information which, although thought by the Company to be a reasonable explanation for the occurrence of identified mineralization in the NORA target area, has yet to be proven by drilling and other exploration activities.

Phase I drilling in Exploration Area III (DDH-N-04-01 to 06 and 08 to 10) indicated that grades of up to 16 g/t (grams/tonne) gold over significant thicknesses are present in the target area.

This target potential is conceptual in nature, there has been insufficient exploration to define a mineral resource within Exploration Area III and it is uncertain if further exploration will result in discovery of a mineral resource within the NORA target. END

Well an Area of 1,000 by 1,200 meters hosting a possible multi-million ounce high grade deposit is HUGE.. and this Area is just one out of seven such Area’s all located on a single property and thus representing a very important strategic opportunity for the company.

The company ends their Sept 9 press release by saying :

The high-grade gold mineralization at NORA represents a very exciting exploration target, with substantial upside potential, that was discovered through the patient and diligent efforts of the SAMEX team. Should the geologic model hold together through Phase II drilling a major discovery could result and be a tremendous success for the Company. This is only one of several quality targets that are coming together at Los Zorros and management is pleased with the progress and potential resulting from these efforts. END.

    Introduction to SAMEX MINING CORP:

SAMEX Mining Corp. (SXG : TSE-V) is a junior resource company focused on gold/silver and copper exploration in South America. Samex began, in 1993, to explore one of the most prolifically mineralized regions on earth, the Cordillera Occidental (Andes Mts.) of Bolivia and Chile.

    Management :

I consider good management as one of the key assets a junior mining company can have since they can make or break a company. I mean in order to be successful the company needs good properties, in order to find good properties you need a team of good geologists, in order to build a team of good geologists you’ll need good management, it’s as simple as that!

Does Samex management fit into that category ?

Well, SAMEX’s CEO Jeff Dahl certainly has a good reputation among many industry veterans. Bill Murphy of Lemetropolecafe once wrote me :

    Hi Eric,
    How nice.
It is great to know that you know what a CLASS ACT jeff dahl is. He is the best.
If I am wrong about him, I do not know myself. He is one of the finest I have ever met and I have met quite a few.
As a result of my confidence in Jeff, Samex is my second biggest holding.
    The best to you,
    Bill . END.

Another key-player in SAMEX management is of course VP Exploration Rob Kell.

Rob Kell has led/participated 3 mineral discoveries during his 25+ year career (eg the platinum/palladium discoveries at Stillwater , Montana and the Dall cu/zn/ag massive sulphide discovery in Alaska)

From an investors point of view it’s always good to invest in companies with good exploration geologists with proven track records since most of the geologists won’t be making any discoveries at all…

    Projects :

SAMEX main project is Los Zorros, Chile. I will only focus on this project here since this piece has a strong focus on potential discoveries and Los Zorros will be the main focus for SAMEX coming year..

As mentioned earlier the Los Zorros project seems to have a huge potential but since SAMEX is still in an early exploration phase they still have to prove it up..

Now let’s first focus on the geographic location of Los Zorros

The two maps below are showing the geographical location and an overview of the Los Zorros project and its 7 exploration area’s :

    Zum Thema Speedtraps:

    Speed camera fines 'illegal'?

    25/09/2005 16:00 - (SA)

CT out to get R339m in fines

    Cops deny harassing diners

Johannesburg - Moves are afoot to have traffic fines generated from unmanned cameras declared invalid by the prosecution authorities.

As a result, thousands of fines issued for traffic offences from speed camera detection could be illegal.

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the East Rand near Johannesburg, is engaged in high-level talks with the metro police department in Ekurhuleni to stop the prosecution of motorists who failed to pay traffic fines from unmanned cameras.

The outcome of these talks could set a legal precedent that could affect the imposition of traffic fines countrywide.

One senior prosecutor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said for the traffic fines to be valid, motorists have to be stopped on the spot by a metro police officer and issued with a summons. Summonses, he said, cannot be sent by post.

The decision by the prosecution authorities in Ekurhuleni may plunge cities and towns throughout the country into financial crisis because traffic fines contribute hugely to revenues of municipalities. Using the rule of general application, motorists in other areas who are sent fines emanating from unmanned cameras may also not pay the fines.

The decision by the prosecution authorities followed submissions by a number of drivers in Ekurhuleni, challenging the legality of fines from the placement of speed cameras.

A lawyer from Benoni on the East Rand (who cannot be named) has made numerous representations to the DPP questioning the legality of fines that have been issued to him by the traffic authority in Ekurhuleni through unmanned speed cameras.

The lawyer insisted that such fines are in direct violation of aspects of the Criminal Procedure Act.

He said cameras were important in the prosecution process because they are used as instruments to detect crime and thus their use has to comply with Section 341 of the act.

He further said Section 341 does not authorise the placement of cameras next to traffic lights and stop signs to monitor if motorists stopped at red robots and stop streets.

Another senior prosecutor said there had been a lot of problems on the use of speed cameras to prosecute motorists.

    About Klondike Star

Klondike Star Mineral Corporation is developing 5 mineralized zones on a 250 square km land position underlying the site of the Klondike Gold Rush, and select high potential targets in other parts of the Yukon.

The famous Klondike goldfields have been in constant surface mining production since the discovery of gold in 1896. Thousands of ounces of gold continue to be produced from placer mining operations each year on streams in the Klondike. The company also owns extensive surface mining rights in the Klondike Mining District.

That was the week that was

Gold did so well this week, rising to hit over €400 at its peak and over $480 at its peak in the U.S. currency. But then the inevitable question had to be asked, would I buy gold at these levels? On a straight run up such as we've just seen, way down from below $450, it would take a brave man to buy it without a consolidation before it assaulted the $500 level. Then good sense kicked in, taking it back down to $466. Right now it is trying to recover over $470. Funds wisely took good profits after a good run and calmed a market worried that they were too top heavy for the good of the market. We expect the consolidation to continue until it has gathered sufficient confidence that it is going to stay at these levels and has the strength to overcome $500. Before that it should see lower levels, but not significantly lower in our opinion. It is all a matter of perception. It's reaching this level was expected and was accompanied all the way up by physical demand from the Middle to the Far East, with India standing back a little, despite the festival season. As you know, the Indians don't chase prices, but wait until they are sure it has laid a foundation price. It is a quicker process in festival season, but still has to be done. So here we are, in a consolidation phase for a while. But the news out there is such that gold is receiving more and more interest and it will continue to grow alongside growing uncertainty and trepidation at the future of inflation, the state of the U.S. economy and increasing structural global pressures. These are sufficiently strong fundamentals to keep this gold market in a bull phase for years to come, not just months.

Please note the progress gold made in the €. From €316 earlier this year to cross €400. This is denotes not just a price rise of 20% inside a year, which is not so dramatic, but it represents the transition of gold from a "barberous relic" to a "currency shadowing the €" to a separate "currency" as an alternative to paper currency. Psychologically this is a major evolution of gold back to a position it has not held for 20 years.

In the $, gold is doing the same but not nearly as spectacularly. Bear in mind many observers still see gold moving inversely to the $. Not that many observers recognise the extent of the evolution, to our surprise. But it has happened. Indeed, U.S. Investors will continue to believe that gold inversely reflects the state of the U.S. economy and the $. It is our belief that this is a consideration as it reflects part of the path of the global economy, but in itself it is a major factor primarily in the minds of U.S. Investors. By the same token the € price of gold is a growing factor in the minds of European Investors, as the Rupee price of gold is in the minds of the Indian Investors, the Rand price of gold is in the minds of the South African Gold Producers.......
