Zitat Crystalball am 10.10.05:
"According my predictions, the Dollar index should have reached $94 by the end of this week but it looks like for the short term, that may not be fulfilled after all. However, it will soon reach the $94 mark (probably in another few weeks)."

"October is a season of celebration in India -- Dussehra, which highlights the victory of good over evil; Diwali, the Festival of Lights, also known as Deepavali in Southeast Asia; and several other socially symbolic festivals".

UPDATE 1-Goldcorp hopes for acquisition before year end
Thu Oct 20, 2005 12:44 PM ET
By Rachelle Younglai
TORONTO, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Once-thwarted, once successful in the span of a year, Goldcorp (G.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) is looking to buy a firm that will add at least 250,000 ounces of gold to the Canadian miner's annual production, the company's CEO said on Thursday.
"We think it would be great if something happened before Christmas," Ian Telfer told Reuters in an interview."(We) sure hope it does not take as long as two years."
Telfer became Goldcorp's chief executive in February after Goldcorp bought up Wheaton River Minerals Corp. to become North America's fifth-largest gold producer. He is sitting on a billion-dollar war chest, and anxious for a deal.
"Our focus is gold, our focus is on something that will give us at least 250,000 ounces a year in new production, over and above what we have already, and our focus is in North and South America," he said.
"We have half a billion dollars in credit, we've got $400 million in cash, we've got another $400 million in securities and I expect our story will be us making an acquisition and spending that money."
Telfer said 2005 had been a "fabulous" year, pointing to the success of the Goldcorp-Wheaton deal after he defended Wheaton from a hostile takeover in his previous position as Wheaton chief executive.
Telfer, in Toronto to talk to a mergers symposium, said integration of the two firms was going very smoothly so far.
"Each operation has met or exceeded its budgets and targets. Our costs have stayed consistent and we have not had the run-up in operating costs that our competitors have," he said.
He said one reason Wheaton River was so successful at growing and acquiring assets was because it believed the price of gold was rising and could therefore make higher bids.
Telfer made six acquisitions while he was Wheaton CEO.
"We are still bullish on the gold price," said Telfer, forecasting a gold price of $500 an ounce before year-end and $800 within two years.
Bullion touched an 18-year high of $482 an ounce this month, the highest level for COMEX gold futures since January 1988. It was at around $464 an ounce on Thursday on profit taking and as softening crude oil prices reduced concern about global inflation.
Telfer said the new, expanded Goldcorp is on target to produce 1.1 million ounces of gold at cash costs of $60 an ounce this year, rising to more than 1.3 million ounces at cash costs of around $70 an ounce next year.
Shares of Goldcorp are up around 17 percent on the year, handsomely outperforming Canada's gold index , which is off 2 percent over the same period.
