    Cost of US home heating to rise

    Heating oil will be the most expensive winter fuel
    US consumers will pay on average 10% more to warm their homes this winter than they did last year, according to a government forecast.
    Heating oil will be the dearest fuel, with higher crude oil prices raising average costs to $2.88 (£1.41) a gallon from $2.48 (£1.22) last winter.


    Households using natural gas will also see a rise of almost 10% in spending.

    Im ersten Halbjahr erwirtschaftete Centrotherm bei 61 Mio. Euro Umsatz einen Gewinn von 5,4 Mio. Euro. Gemessen daran ist die Bewertung ambitioniert: Selbst wenn das schwäbische Unternehmen bis Jahresende den bis zum Halbjahr erreichten Gewinn auf 15 Mio.     Teurer Befreiungsschlag: Amerikanische Großbanken wollen weitere Auswirkungen der US-Immobilienkrise am Finanzmarkt verhindern - und planen Berichten zufolge einen 100-Milliarden-Dollar-Fonds für den Rückkauf maroder Kredite. Washington würde auch gerne europäische Banken zur Kasse bitten.


    New York/Washington - Auf Einladung des US-Finanzministeriums hätten Vertreter verschiedener Banken, darunter die Citigroup, Bank of America und JPMorgan, vor drei Wochen über den Plan beraten, berichtet das "Wall Street Journal" unter Berufung auf mit der Situation vertraute Personen.


    Der Fonds solle verhindern, dass in Schieflage geratene Banken ihre durch zweitklassige US-Hypothekenkredite gesicherten Anleihen auf den Markt werfen müssen und die internationalen Finanzmärkte so weiter in Schieflage bringen würden.


    Nach den Plänen des US-Finanzministeriums sollen mit den Rückstellungen Not leidende Immobilienkredite und Derivate aufgekauft werden, um bedrohte Hedgefonds vor der Pleite zu bewahren. Der Zeitung und der Nachrichtenagentur Reuters zufolge will die amerikanische Regierung mit dem Rettungsfonds vom Einbruch der US-Immobilienpreise hervorgerufene Krise an den Finanzmärkten unter Kontrolle bringen.


    Der Fonds soll ausschließlich mit Einzahlungen internationaler Banken finanziert werden, heißt es in New York und Washington. Die US-Regierung bemühe sich derzeit, auch europäische Großbanken zur Beteiligung an dem Fonds zu bewegen. Eine Unterstützung der US-Regierung mit Steuergeldern lehne das Weiße Haus demnach ab. Unklar sei aber noch, wie die Last unter den Banken aufgeteilt werde. Die Schaffung des Fonds könnte bereits heute verkündet werden, heißt es.

    Übernahmegerüchte Commerzbank


    Die französische Bank Societe Generale ist einem Zeitungsbericht zufolge bereit, ein Gebot von 35 EUR je Aktie für den deutschen Wettbewerber Commerzbank vorzulegen. Das berichtet die italienische Tageszeitung "Libero Mercato" am Samstag und beruft sich dabei auf Marktgerüchte. Ein Sprecher der Commerzbank AG wollte sich auf Anfrage von Dow Jones Newswires
    nicht dazu äußern.


    Der Aktienkurs der Frankfurter Bank verteuerte sich im Freitagshandel um mehr als 2% vor dem Hintergrund von erneuten Gesprächen, dass die Commerzbank AG das Ziel einer Übernahme werden könnte, so die Zeitung weiter. Der Anteilsschein ging am Freitag bei 31,25 EUR aus dem Handel.


    Bei der Societe Generale SA, Paris, und Intesa Sanpaolo SpA, Turin, war keine Stellungnahme erhältlich.

    Deutschlands größter Energiekonzern E.on hebt zum Jahresbeginn 2008 die Strom- und Gaspreise um bis zu knapp zehn Prozent an. Das kündigte der Düsseldorfer Konzern an. Es wird erwartet, dass auch weitere Versorger ihre Preise zum 1. Januar erhöhen werden.

    Gewinn bricht um 57 Prozent ein


    Die Hypothekenkrise hat ein großes Loch in die Bilanz der größten US-Bank Citigroup gerissen. Analysten hatten mit noch höheren Verlusten gerechnet. An der Wall Street wird damit gerechnet, dass eine Bankengruppe in Kürze die Gründung eines milliardenschweren Auffangfonds bekannt geben wird.


    New York - Der Nettogewinn der Citigroup brach im turbulenten dritten Quartal um 57 Prozent auf 2,38 Milliarden Dollar ein, wie das Geldhaus am Montag mitteilte. Der Gewinn je Aktie betrug demnach damit 0,47 Dollar. Die Einnahmen bezifferte der Konzern mit 22,7 Milliarden Dollar, einem Plus von sechs Prozent.

    The U.S. residential mortgage-backed securities business of Nomura Holdings Inc. is to be shut down thanks to the subprime mortgage crisis.

    "Nomura has faced challenges in the U.S. residential mortgage-backed securities market which have led to these disappointing results," Nomura President and CEO Nobuyuki Koga said (http://www.nomuraholdings.com)

    Nomura said in a statement Monday it will book a 73 billion yen (US$621 million) loss in its residential mortgage-backed securities business.


    The group now expects a group pretax loss of 40-60 billion yen (US$340-510 million) for the July-September quarter, including about 15 billion yen (US$128 million) to reorganize its U.S. business, according to the statement.


    The company also said it will cut more than 400 jobs in the U.S. - about 30 percent of its work force there - by March 2008, mostly in its broker-dealer operations and back offices.

    Das hat es wieder einmal in sich: Die Leute von Leap 2020 kennen keinen Pardon mehr, zumindest in der vorab veröffentlichten französischen Fassung von heute. Wenn es nur einigermaßen so kommen sollte, wie die voraussagen, dann werden die nächsten Jahre ganz böse werden. Bislang lagen sie zumeist recht gut mit ihren Prognosen, aber das ist dann doch ein harter Hammer:


    Sie glauben an 7 ineinander verwobene Sequenzen des Aufpralls - vom jüngsten Bankenschock über einen Kursverfall an den Börsen im Laufe von ca. 2 Jahren (Asien und USA ca. 50%), ferner natürlich einen Immocrash in England, Spanien, Osteuropa, gewaltige Volatilitäten an den Währungsmärkten angesichts des Dollarverfalls, globale Stagflation und - jetzt kommt´s ganz dicke - Monsterkrise in USA mit Einsatz des Militärs zur Bekämpfung sozialer Unruhen, schließlich noch als Draufgabe einen Angriff auf den Iran.


    Fertig ist das ultimative Horrorszenario.

    Man kann ein solches Szenario nicht mehr ernsthaft ausschließen, trotzdem kann es natürlich anders kommen. Wenn man sich die US-Gesetzgebung der letzten Jahre ansieht, in der eine neue Gruppe von Kriminellen definiert wurde, die keinerlei Rechte mehr besitzen, dann bereitet man sich dort offensichtlich auf etwas gezielt vor. Wenn man weiter sieht, daß auch bei uns in Politiker offen von "Internierungslagern" (wörtlich!) sprechen, dann weiß man, daß gleiches auch bei uns geplant wird. Wenn dann noch dazukommt, daß bereits heute der Unterschied zwischen (ich sage mal) "echten Terroristen" und unliebsamen Kritikern (siehe G8 ) verwischt wird, ahnt man Schlimmes. Natürlich gibt es im globalen Krisenfall soziale Unruhen, es bleibt die Frage, wie und von wem sie gelöst werden.
