    ich guck mir jeden sonntag abend die eröffnungen an. aber so spannend wie diesmal war es lange nicht mehr...das system brennt lichterloh, du bist auf der richtigen seite und die ganzen leute die dich die ganze zeit als schwarzmaler und crashprophet bezeichnet haben sind verstummt...da spürt man eine gewisse genugtuung.

    Lehman Brothers geriet am Freitag ebenfalls unter Druck. Die Aktie verlor 15 Prozent. Die Nummer vier der Wall-Street-Häuser hat wie Bear Stearns den Schwerpunkt im festverzinslichen Wertpapiergeschäft. "Unsere Liquiditätsausstattung war und ist sehr stark", erklärte eine Sprecherin von Lehman Brothers. Die Investmentbank wird am Dienstag gleichzeitig mit dem Branchenprimus Goldman Sachs ihre Bilanz für das erste Quartal bekannt geben. Am Mittwoch meldet Morgan Stanley.
    Die Probleme bei Bear Stearns schüren nach den Pleiten mehrerer US-Hypothekenfinanzierer, Milliardenabschreibungen bei Banken und dem jüngsten Aus einiger Hedge-Fonds Sorgen vor einer Systemkrise. "Was wir gerade erleben, ist wie ein Dominospiel - ein Stein fällt nach dem anderen", sagte Stefan Schilbe, Chefvolkswirt bei HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt. "Es besteht ohne Frage die Gefahr, dass es zu einer systemischen Krise kommt."
    Also wenn Bear Stearns die kleinste unter den 5 Großen war ;( und mit Lehmann Brothers als nächstes die Nummer 4 drankommt, dann geht das Spiel m.E. so:

    Venezuela reported moving some oil contracts to euros


    CARACAS -- Venezuelan state oil giant PDVSA has decided to sign some oil contracts in euros in the face of a plummeting dollar, local media reported, citing officials.


    "There are some contracts in euros, contracts for crude, products, and spot markets in euros. This is a subject which we are working on," said energy minister and Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) chief, Rafael Ramirez, in an interview with the journal El Universal published Friday.

This financial calamity will bear a particularly dramatic human dimension because it will come at the precise moment when the first wave of baby-boomers phase out of the labour force in the US, EU and Japan: pension fund revenues are collapsing at the very moment when they should be making their first large series of payments to pensioners. In this 23rd edition of the GEAB, our team anticipates the evolution of the upcoming pension fund crisis, details which countries are the most exposed (in particular in Europe) and provides a number of operational and strategic recommendations to face the situation.
