FinMetal Signs Major Agreement - Positions Company to Acquire One of the World\'s Largest Portfolios of Advanced Nickel Projects
Tampere, Finland -February 9, 2007 -FinMetal Mining Ltd. (OTCBB: FNMM) is pleased to announce that on February 6th, 2007 it reached an agreement to purchase up to 100 percent of the issued and outstanding ordinary shares of Magnus Minerals Oy, a private company organized pursuant to the corporate laws of Finland. The deal with Magnus positions FinMetal Mining to become a leading developer of advanced nickel projects in Finland and brings with it a team of mining professionals with extensive domestic nickel expertise.
The Magnus property package represents one of the world\' largest known land holdings with high potential for developing nickel ore reserves. The deal positions FinMetal to acquire claim reservations and claims covering approximately 2,500 Km2 of Finland. More than forty (40) individual prospects are contained in the Magnus property package, almost all of which have encountered nickel mineralization in historical drilling undertaken by the Finnish geological survey (GTK) and Outokumpu Oy. The reported nickel grades are sufficient for economic exploitation if sufficient tonnes can be discovered. None of the prospects have been investigated using modern geophysical and geological exploration techniques and most of the previous work was concentrated in shallow zones of little more than 100m from surface. For various reasons Finland has been subject to limited modern competitive exploration.
FinMetal\' proposed exploration program is based upon the expectation that exploration at deeper levels, to depths of up to 1000m, may lead to the discovery of substantial extensions to the known nickel mineralization in several of the prospects. FinMetal intends to use modern geophysics to better define drill targets. Techniques used will likely include detailed magnetometry, airborne and down-hole electromagnetometry and high-quality interpretation with a large amount of emphasis on structural geology.
Former Inco VP of Exploration and current FinMetal Director, Robert Horn stated, "if past successes using modern geophysics and first-class geological interpretation in the Canadian Shield are any indication of what the Future may hold for Finland, FinMetal Mining has increased its potential to discover significant results. The potential of using first class modern geophysical and geological techniques is reflected in historical drilling programs. Between 1996 and 2003, Inco discovered in excess of $2.2 billion net value of nickel in Sudbury, Ontario on a budget of $48 million."
Mr. Horn continued, "Finland is arguably the most promising place in the world to develop large sulphide-hosted nickel deposits. It has the right geology with major nickel deposits - particularly the giant Pechenga mine, with historic high-grade reserves containing 4.7Mt of nickel metal, was annexed by Russia in 1945. Finland is politically and socially stable and a member of the European Union and the Eurozone monetary area. Both central and local governments are strongly supportive of mining."
Under the terms of the deal, for FinMetal to acquire an initial 30% interest in Magnus, the company must pay 5,967,000 euros and issue a total of 8,000,000 FinMetal common shares, each valued at US$1.42, as determined by the market closing price on February 6th, 2007. The payment is due by March 31st, 2007.
FinMetal has two separate options to buy the remaining shares in Magnus as follows:
(a) The first option positions FinMetal to increase its interest in Magnus to 51% by acquiring a further 21% of Magnus shares by making a cash payment of 5,005,380 euros on or before December 31st,2007.
(b) The final option enables FinMetal to acquire the remaining 49% of Magnus shares for a total purchase price of 11,997, 285 euros. The Final Option must be exercised on or before March 31st, 2009.
Magnus reported the technical information on its properties using data obtained largely from the GTK and from claim reports filed by Outokumpu Oy. Three areas are summarised below. Note, as far as can be determined, grades reported are expressed only as sulphide not total metal. They do not include nickel and copper contained in the silicate rock-forming minerals. This should be taken into account when comparing FinMetal prospect grades with those of other reported deposits where grade may include nickel contained in rock-forming minerals and not metallurgically recoverable.
Enonkoski Belt
Magnus owns eleven nickel/copper prospects in this 60Km long belt of mafic/ultramafic rocks and black schists which is part of the 400Km long Central Ore Belt that contains most of Finland\' historic base metal deposits. The prospects include the old Hälväla mine which is reported to contain shallow remnant resources of more than 400,000t @ 1.41% Ni and 0.33% Cu. This deposit is open below 265m and along strike. In the remaining prospects drilling has indicated potential for large tonnage open pit reserves with grades ranging from 0.2% Ni to 0.84% Ni. The work planned in this area will consist of detailed geology using existing drill core and down-hole and surface geophysics with the primary objective of locating high grade ore bodies amenable to underground mining, with a secondary target of shallow low grade ore.Vammala Belt
Twenty one prospects are located along this 90Km long belt which includes three small past producing mines in the southwest of the country. Twelve prospects have been drilled and have located shallow nickel mineralization with grades ranging from 0.15% to 0.83% nickel with associated copper. The exploration objective will be primarily for low grade, large tonnage, shallow ore amenable to open pit mining with a secondary target of high grade underground ore.Savonranta
The area is located in the southern part of the Outokumpu mining district. A small tonnage containing 1.21% Zn, 0.71% Cu, 0.18% Ni and 0.15% Co has been identified at Hietajärvi and very thick intersections of more than 100m of low grade nickel are reported from diamond drilling. The target in this district would again be primarily large shallow open pittable ore bodies but in this case with significant zinc as well as nickel copper and cobalt.FinMetal had previously optioned four properties from Magnus including the following;
Tainiovaara
A bulk sample of 20,000 tonnes with 1.4% nickel and drill intersections of 20.45m @ 3.23% Ni and 7.05m @ 1.78% Ni were reported from this prospect as well as thick low grade intersections of 49.65m @ 0.42% Ni and 45.25m @ 0.34% Ni. A small, shallow zone of mineralization was outlined by the GTK. The exploration effort will be directed towards finding extensions of this zone and reserves that may be placed rapidly into production. Down hole geophysics and detailed geology will be the primary exploration tools.Rautavaara
The exploration target is a low grade high tonnage deposit such as that at Talvivaara: (338Mt: 0.27%Ni, 0.56%Zn, 0.14%Cu, 0.02%Co) 60Km to the north in identical geology which is planned for development. Drilling at Rautavaara by GTK has located an inferred resource of 21 million tons of 0.21% nickel, 0.45% zinc, and 0.10% copper, down to a depth of 100 meters. Planned exploration includes airborne EM to seek extensions to this mineralization. -

Company Options Two New Gold Projects in Finland
2007-01-23 13:06 ET - News Release
TAMPERE, FINLAND -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 01/23/07
Gondwana Energy Ltd. (OTCBB: GNWA) is pleased to announced it has signed an option agreement to acquire a 100% interest in two advanced gold projects comprised of five mineral concessions located in Finland.
Under the terms of the agreement, the company has the right to acquire a 100% interest in two gold projects known as Poronmannikko and Sarkiahonkangas by making cash payments to Ab Aprofas Oy totaling 1,000,000 Euros. The initial payment of EUR 150,000 is due on or before April 1, 2007, the 2nd payment of EUR 150,000 is due on or before April 1, 2008, the 3rd payment of EUR 300,000 is due on or before April 1, 2009 and the final payment of EUR 400,000 is due on or before April 1, 2010.
Company Chairman and CEO, Dan Hunter stated, "It is an important part of our Finnish mining strategy to acquire and develop a balanced portfolio of both precious and base metals projects with an emphasis on gold and nickel. Today's agreement to acquire two new gold projects increases our holdings in Finland to include three advanced gold targets. These gold projects have received considerable previous exploration including drilling and warrant further development to expand on the promising potential of the mineralized zones."
"I see great similarity between the Canadian Shield forty years ago and Finland today. A primary difference being that the Geological Survey of Finland has compiled an enormous amount of geological data that is available for companies like ours to use to identify advanced targets of interest and to fast-track exploration and development. The Canadian shield grew rapidly as major discoveries were made during the past forty years and we never had anywhere near the amount of information available to us then that we have now in Finland," stated Robert Van Tassell, a company Director.

By David Bond, Editor,
The Silver Valley Mining Journal
Glowing Gold In The Dark
Toronto, Ontario – Normal people bugger-off to places like Cabo, Mazatlan, or the French Riveria this time of year. But oh, no, not the guys we hang with. Kirk McKinnon and Bill Nielsen are instead heading north of all possible sanity to bang on a pile of radioactive boulders in Quebec's “Friveria” up by James Bay – a detritus of a long-ago Ice Age that left its calling card: 10 oz/ton gold, and uranium values worth more far more than the incredible gold values, a frog-lash south of the Circle.
And we're with them.
We don't usually depart far from our beat as the second or third-most astute writer about all topics regarding silver and silver mining to write about uranium. Normally, we leave that task to the plethora of pump'n'dumpers out there. But when a great detective yarn, a quest for a new Mother Lode, 10-ounce gold and $1,800 rock all ravel together in one story, well . . . we could turn away Sandra Bullock's friendly advances for a piece of that.
Welcome to Uranium Star (URST, and until earlier this month known as Yukon Resources), and the Detective Story of the Century: The Mystery of Mistamisk. The Uranium Star guys are out to solve that mystery, which is why these great big radioactive 10 ounce-gold rocks are where they are, and where they came from. This is the 21st Century's first great search for the Mother Lode.
Hang with us for a moment:
Satellites first discovered the Mistamisk boulders in the early 1980s, back when most satellites were looking for Russian rockets and mapping Earth's resources was something of an afterthought. But here was this blob of inexplicably rich rocks on the tundra. Majors from Noranda and Kennecott on up drilled around and about these boulders, as a prudent geologist would do, but to no avail. Seems the Mistamisk boulders had fallen out of the sky. Which, based on our 1980s understanding of how Ice Age glaciers moved, they might as well have. I mean, think about how we were taught that glaciers move: an inch or two per century, right?
(Our first inkling that geologic events move at least as fast as our pass at Sandra Bullock would be rejected came when Mount St. Helens blew up in May of 1980. With very little warning. Violent and rapid. In one afternoon a mountain 300 miles west of Wallace went Ker-Pow and six hours later we were drenched in a foot of volcanic dust. So it is not too far a reach to speculate that Ice Ages advance and retreat with similar dispatch.)
As the Finns discovered two years ago in a study of ice movements on the Scandinavian peninsula, these glaciers don't creep at the rate of centimeters per century. Try, instead, kilometers per century. The Finns also came up with vectors of Ice Age movement. Turns out, the glaciers boogied in directions contrary to the common wisdom, amped-up on mid-Proterozoic speed.
So here is the scenario. For reasons far beyond control of the current Bush Administration, the Tories Greenpeace, the EEU or anybody else, this glacier went BANG over the top of this uranium- and gold-rich horst, mowed the top of it off, and sent those boulders a-scattering to their present location. Back-track the ice, and there's the Mother Lode.
Which to Bill Nielsen, Uranium Star's geologist, is a trail that can be followed quite accurately. Nielsen (yes, Nevsun's Nielsen) is no schlepper. We are walking together from Uranium Star's offices on Adelaide in Toronto up to lunch around the corner at Barrister's, a popular Toronto miner's hang-out.. Turns out we have mutual friends: Nielsen was once Hecla's one-man office in Toronto. He knows our neck of the woods well. (If you can figure out Coeur d'Alene District geology, you can do arithmetic in Chinese.)
Geologists were a dime a dozen in the 1990s. So what kept you in the game? we ask him. “They treated miners like dirt. But I have a restless mind,” he replies, sharing the angst he felt being a miner, a pariah, during that dreadful era.
Nielsen applied Finland's vectors to the Mistamisk boulders, back-tracked accordingly, kilometers instead of meters, drew some water, and found the pH to be right for uranium. When we visited their Toronto office on Adelaide, everyone in that little cramped space was working the logistics for a full-tilt, 6,000- to 8,000-meter drilling program, scheduling helicopters, DC-3s and Twin Otters. The rush is on.
So come about March, Uranium Star will begin drilling this discovery out, building the base camp, plowing out the runways. They don't expect to even have to do all the NI 43-101 stuff; somebody will take them out when the first holes come in. Tough darts if the gold comes up a little radioactive. Goldfinger had a cure for that.
As we visited in Toronto in late December, Uranium Star's prexy, Kirk McKinnon, had just closed out a PP for 50 cents; the stock was trading at 0.85 US. As we type this, URST's stock is well over $1.20 and headed seriously north.
Not a one-trick pony, Uranium Star is also active in Arizona, at the Workman Creek uranium project in Gila County, on claims drilled out in the 1960s by a Westinghouse subsidiary, and right next door to Rodina Minerals' claims, the latter reporting a NI 43-101 inferred resource of 5.54 million pounds of U308, and on a pair of uranium prospects in Finland covering 150 square kilometers.
A final note, as, if you attended our rant in Paris in November, we gauge mining outfits by their people. We had a niggling technical question for Mr, McKinnon. So we phoned up, expecting the usual voice-mail Hell. To our surprise, the receptionist was the president himself. 'Can I help you?'
“Kirk, what are you doing, answering the phone?”
His reply: “Well, everybody else here was busy.”

Robert Cathro Appointed to Board of Advisors
Tampere, Finland - January 12, 2007 - Gondwana Energy Ltd. (OTCBB: GNWA) is pleased to announced that Robert Cathro has been appointed to the company\'s advisory board.
Robert (Bob) Cathro brings a lifetime of precious and base metals experience and mining success to our advisory board. In 1966, he formed a consulting engineering firm, Archer Cathro & Associates Ltd, which is still in operation and which was inducted into the Yukon Prospectors\' Hall of Fame in 2002. The firm specialized in the exploration of precious and base metals in the Canadian Shield - analogous to much of the geology in Finland. Mr. Cathro earned a B.A.Sc. in Geological Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1959 and began his career as a mine geologist with four underground mines (1959 to 1965). Two of the mines, the Giant Yellowknife (NWT) gold mine; and the Keno Hill (Yukon) silver-lead-zinc mine, were operated by subsidiaries of Falconbridge. His consulting engineering firm, Cathro & Associates, discovered or delineated scores of mineral deposits in the Yukon and elsewhere on behalf of clients, including the IOCG-type U camp in the Wernecke Mountains, the extensive coal basin between Whitehorse and Carmacks, and the Williams Creek Copper-Gold deposit near Carmacks.
Mr. Cathro has served as a director of several mining companies, including Big Creek Resources and All North Resources, which was acquired by the Robert Friedland \'Group\' (of Diamond Fields and Ivanhoe fame) after it had enlarged the Nickel-Precious Metals deposit at the former Wellgreen Mine, Yukon. Professional awards include: the Dufresne Award by the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CIM) in 1991; the Huestis Award (co-winner) by the BC & Yukon Chamber of Mines (now AME BC) in 1999; and a Distinguished Service Award by the Geological Association of Canada (GAC) in 2003. He is currently a member of the technical advisory committee of Geoscience BC (a non-profit, non-governmental organization that manages a $25 million fund established by the provincial government in 2005. He is also the author or co-author of six papers in peer-reviewed technical journals on subjects as diverse as Yukon tungsten deposits, metallogeny of the Canadian Cordillera, supergene copper mineralization and sedex deposits. He recently published a paper on the History of Mining and Metallurgy in Latin America, 1500 BC to 1600 AD (in the Latin America Special Volume mentioned above) and is currently the editor of a series on the "History and Geology of the Great Mining Camps of Canada" that will appear in Geoscience Canada, a GAC quarterly. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of BC (P.Eng) and the GAC, and a Life Member of the CIM and AME BC.
Gondwana Director, Robert Van Tassell commented on today\'s appointment, "I have known Bob on a professional and personal level for close to 50 years. His extensive experience and knowledge of Canadian shield mineralogy should prove to be a valuable asset to our company as we move forward with the exploration and development of our Finnish-based projects."
Mr. Van Tassell continued, "Finland appears to offer the same geological potential for world-class discoveries as the Canadian Shield did 50 years ago when Bob and I first began our careers. Recent discoveries such as Agnico-Eagle\'s Kittila gold mine and Talvivaara Mining\'s large sulphide-hosted nickel deposit are but two exciting development\'s in this increasingly interesting country. Having been part of some of the bigger discoveries to be made in Canada we look forward to experiencing similar success in Finland as we move forward."
The Company has recently called a Special Meeting of Shareholders of Gondwana Energy, Ltd. to change the name of the company to FinMetal Mining Ltd. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, commencing at 10:00 a.m. local time, at the offices of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, 1225 17th Street, Suite 2300, Denver, Colorado 80202 (telephone: (303) 292-2400). Gondwana Energy wird zu FinMetal Mining
TRAUMSTART 2007
Zweitgrößtes Nickelprojekt in Finnland
