Formation Finalizes Sale of Big Creek Tailings Facility
Tuesday January 23, 8:30 am ET

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 23, 2007) - In a transaction that is designed to simultaneously bolster Idaho's economy and reduce impacts to the environment, Formation Capital Corporation (the "Company") (TSX:FCO - News) announced today that it has concluded the sale of a tailings facility and in North Idaho to Sterling Mining Company (Sterling).

Under the terms of agreement, Sterling paid Formation's wholly owned subsidiary, Essential Metals Corporation, (EMC) US $4.5 million for the Big Creek tailings facility in Shoshone County. Sterling also conveyed to EMC ownership of 16 acres of land near the facility. Sterling's final payment of US $3.9 million has now been made.

"We're fortunate because this transaction is not only good news for both companies, it's good news for the Idaho economy, workers and the environment," Bill Scales, President of Formation Capital, U.S. (Formation), said from his Salmon, ID office. "Sterling needs a tailings facility for its future operations at the Sunshine Silver Mine, and this facility is well-suited for their needs. At the same time, the environmental impact is reduced because Sterling won't have to build that capacity. The local communities stand to benefit from these operations."

The tailings facility was part of EMC's Big Creek Hydrometallurgical Complex located east of Kellogg, ID. EMC remains the owner and operator of the Complex, which includes the Sunshine Precious Metals Refinery, the SXEW copper refinery, the hydrometallurgical plant, the concentrate loading and unloading facility and the associated land package and buildings.

Formation is also developing the Idaho Cobalt Project in Lemhi County. Once permitted and in operation, the cobalt mine will ship its concentrates to the Big Creek Complex for further processing. The U.S. Forest Service is expected to release the draft Environmental Impact Statement on the Idaho Cobalt Project in the near future. "All of these things work together for the benefit of Idaho," Scales said. "The transfer of the tailings facility to Sterling helps both companies. As well, our ability to mine cobalt in Idaho and do the processing in this state is also a plus."

Formation Capital Corporation is a mineral exploration, development and refining company with assets concentrated in the state of Idaho. It owns the Idaho Cobalt Project, a unique high grade primary cobalt deposit in the final feasibility and permitting stage of development.

Formation Capital Corporation is dedicated to the principles of environmentally sound mining and refining practices, and believes that environmental stewardship and mining can co-exist. The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol FCO.

Hab heute SRLM.OB rausgehaut zu 3,24. Kauf 3,4.
Mag mich da nicht mehr ärgern.
Mochte ja die Sunshine instinktiv vom ersten Augenblick an.
Einfache Erklärung: Wenn man den ort der Sunshine astrologisch umlegt, kommt 10 grad stier raus. Ja, und da hab ich meinen MC.
    Schon sehr schön.
Aber nur für die, die das verstehen. :D

Canadian Natural Resources Limited Announces Renewal of Normal Course Issuer BidMonday January 22, 5:00 am ET

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jan 22, 2007 -- Canadian Natural Resources Limited (TSX:CNQ.TO - News) (NYSE:CNQ - News) ("Canadian Natural") announced today that Toronto Stock Exchange has accepted notice filed by Canadian Natural of its intention to make a Normal Course Issuer Bid through the facilities of Toronto Stock Exchange. Purchases may also be made through the facilities of the New York Stock Exchange.

The notice provides that Canadian Natural may, during the 12 month period commencing January 24, 2007 and ending January 23, 2008, purchase for cancellation on Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange up to 26,941,730 shares, being 5% of the 538,834,606 outstanding common shares as at January 15, 2007. The price which Canadian Natural will pay for any such shares will be the market price at the time of acquisition. The actual number of common shares that may be purchased and the timing of any such purchases will be determined by Canadian Natural.

While pursuing Canadian Natural's successful acquisition, exploration and development plans remain the best opportunity to create value for Canadian Natural, any excess cash flow in 2007 over budgeted spending may be used by Canadian Natural to further strengthen its balance sheet or continue growth of value per common share. One investment opportunity available to Canadian Natural under these circumstances, depending upon future trading prices and other factors, is the use of these excess funds to purchase its common shares, as it is a worthwhile investment, and is in the best interests of Canadian Natural and its shareholders.

Canadian Natural has purchased 485,000 common shares at a weighted average purchase price of $57.29 pursuant to a Normal Course Issuer Bid which has been in place since January 24, 2006.

Canadian Natural is a senior oil and natural gas production company, with continuing operations in its core areas located in Western Canada, the U.K. portion of the North Sea and Offshore West Africa.

(bs)

Okay, let me get to the point of this missive. Sean Rakhimov over at http://www.silverstrategies.com has undertaken the effort of charting the comparison between the price of silver and each of the stocks featured on his site. The results seem to indicate that the silver-to-share price ratio might in fact be a useful investment tool. Whether a particular stock outperforms or underperforms the price of silver is important in itself, but perhaps these charts can also be used for more nuanced analysis. For example, many of the charts show flag and triangle formations on the verge of breakout while others show trend channels in command.

Many of the formations in Sean's charts are not visible on the stock charts themselves. This is because Sean's charts isolate some of the effect of changing silver prices on the stock price and the result is that we get insight into what the stock might have done in an environment of more stable silver prices. On the other hand, we need to keep in mind that fluctuating silver prices have a greater effect on the earnings of high cost producers than low cost producers. In summary, it would probably require a certain degree of sophistication to effectively use Sean's charts in a trading or investment strategy. Personally speaking, I'm going to experiment with them a bit, and I urge others who seek uncommon insight to do the same.

U.S. Gold Corp. has provided a progress review on its proposed consolidation of the Cortez trend in Nevada.

U.S. Gold anticipates being able to commence the formal tender offers for each of Nevada Pacific Gold Ltd., Tone Resources Ltd. and White Knight Resources Ltd. by mid-February, 2007, subject to the satisfaction of certain regulatory requirements. U.S. Gold may re-evaluate its intentions to proceed with the proposed offers for one or more of those companies at any time.

U.S. Gold has decided not to pursue its proposed offer for Coral Gold Resources Ltd. at this time in view of certain regulatory requirements that would need to be satisfied by Coral Gold Resources prior to the commencement by U.S. Gold of a formal tender offer. U.S. Gold was concerned that the possible undue delay and expense arising from the satisfaction of those regulatory requirements could possibly jeopardize the proposed offers for the other three companies. In the future, U.S. Gold may re-evaluate its intention to acquire Coral Gold Resources.

Silver Wheaton Bets on Strategic Nevada?

Now the rest of us know why Strategic Nevada Resources, the recent acquirer of the Crescent mine at a tax auction, traded up 24% yesterday on fantastic volume of 2 million shares. This morning came the announcement that Silver Wheaton is participating in Strategic's private place and as a result will own 13% of the company. Apparently, a few people may have found out about this development ahead of time and they all seem to have acted on this nonpublic information yesterday. Wouldn't you, especially since Canada's insider trading laws are virtually nonexistent?

Silver Wheaton or not, I will repeat my prior point that on a relative value basis, you would be crazy to not buy 4 shares of Sterling for every one share of Strategic. Please realize I am not saying that you should buy either stock but rather that you could turn a pure gamble into at least a decent speculation by gaming the relative market values of Strategic and Sterling. These market values are currently driven purely by extreme levels of sentiment which should eventually (I think sooner than later) shift to more reasonable levels. At that point, the value proposal between the Sunshine mine and the Crescent mine will become obvious to the market.

As for Silver Wheaton, this latest move could be revealing a chink in its armor. At this time, the chink may not look like anything to worry about since the stake Silver Wheaton has taken in Bear Creek, Revett, Sabina and now Strategic is a drop in the bucket in terms of its cash till and market cap. However, if Silver Wheaton continues down this path, its financial results will be increasingly subject to the vagaries of a portfolio of silver exploration stocks. As a result, Silver Wheaton will become less and less of a proxy for silver prices. In truth, Silver Wheaton was never just a proxy for silver prices since its silver comes from 3 mines. Therefore, Silver Wheaton is just as much a proxy for the operational success or failure of those 3 mines, a point which may be lost on many shareholders.

Adding junior exploration and mine development risk to the equation will result in less correlation and predictability between the price performance of Silver Wheaton and silver itself. This is because junior exploration and mine development shares often move independently of metal prices. So why is Silver Wheaton pursuing a strategy which appears no more sophisticated at this point than blindly taking a bite whenever a large private placement comes along in a company allegedly on track to develop a major silver-bearing deposit? If you or I pursued such a strategy, it would be a sign of inexperience or an insatiable desire to gamble. In the case of Silver Wheaton, I assumed that taking a stake in prospective silver plays could later put it in a better position (leverage) to acquire silver from newly developed silver deposits. But it's actually more complicated than that since Silver Wheaton, as an insider, would have its negotiating position compromised by the overarching need to structure a deal which is fair in both substance and appearance.

Now along come the latest two acquisitions -- Sabina and Crescent -- and I'm not so sure about the leverage theory any more. Rather, could Silver Wheaton be showing signs of impatience or even mild desperation after failing so far to lock up a deal on Penasquito and being recently beaten to the punch on Minefinders' Dolores by a more traditional royalty company? Only time will tell. In the meantime, my enthusiasm for Silver Wheaton is increasingly being tampered by a realization that it won't be easy to accomplish what it has set out to do.

Gammon Lake Resources Reports High Grade Discoveries in New Areas of the Ocampo Underground Mine

is pleased to announce new exploration results from sill sampling in the Ocampo Underground Mine in Chihuahua, Mexico. Sill sampling in new areas of exploration in the Mine have resulted in the new discovery of high grade gold-silver zones on multiple levels of the underground mine. Samples were collected over a combined total of 767-metres, resulting in average grades of 11.55 grams per tonne gold equivalent (5.47 grams per tonne gold and 304 grams per tonne silver) over average widths of 2.33-metres. The Balvanera structure is open to depth and the remaining structures are open in all directions. Sill samples were taken along each vein every 2.5-metres. For example, approximately 24 samples were collected for every 60-metres of drifting. The results from sampling are summarized in the following table:

Impact Silver Announces New Gold and Copper Discoveries at Royal Mines of Zacualpan Silver Project
Thursday January 18, 4:36 pm ET

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 18, 2007) - IMPACT Silver Corp. ("IMPACT") (TSX VENTURE:IPT - News) is pleased to announce the discovery of significant gold and copper mineralization in the Southwest Sector of the 124 km2 Royal Mines of Zacualpan Silver Project.

IMPACT crews began prospecting in the Southwest Sector in mid-2006 and found many new vein systems. In recent months sampling crews have been opening, clearing and sampling some of the old mine workings in the sector. The first results received are from the Pecheco Vein System where significant assays were found in two historic mine workings.

    PECHECO PROSPECT

The Pecheco Prospect is located 5 km southwest of the Zacualpan processing plant. It is marked by a cluster of old mine adits and shafts, most of which are collapsed or blocked. Sampling at the end of one short adit recently opened by IMPACT field workers returned the following values near the end of the adit:

    COPPER AND GOLD EXPLORATION MODEL

IMPACT geologists have been working on an exploration model that suggests there may be a gold and copper district lying underneath the silver district at the Royal Mines of Zacualpan. Historically Zacualpan has been a silver district with secondary zinc and lead mineralization. However, small pockets of copper mineralization have been observed in the deeper levels of some of the mines for many years. The gold and copper mineralization reported in this news release was found in deeply eroded river valleys at lower elevations than the silver mineralization found elsewhere in the Southwest Sector of the district. These observations generated a model which theorizes that gold and copper mineralization may lie at depth below the silver, zinc and lead mineralization of the district.

In order to further test this model, IMPACT geologists examined the Alacran Mine in the southern part of the district. Alacran is one of the deepest former producers in the district with workings extending to depths of over 300 m. Although the mine was closed and allowed to flood several years ago, several large blocks of mineralization extracted from deep levels in the mine were left in a surface dump. IMPACT geologists took a random sample of this pyretic vein material from the dump which assayed 7.03g/t gold, 0.54% copper and 74g/t silver, giving further weight to this new exploration model.

IMPACT is continuing to explore both silver and deep gold-copper targets at the Royal Mines of Zacualpan Project. Field crews are sampling old mine workings found at lower elevations in the Southwest Sector and other target areas elsewhere on the large property. Later, after the planned 2007 program of drilling silver targets is complete, IMPACT plans to test a number of deep gold and copper targets.

Although there is a lot of exploration work yet to be done to determine the extent and economic viability of the gold and copper mineralization at Zacualpan, the results reported in this news release demonstrate that at least two parts of the silver district have gold and copper mineralization at depth. If exploration leads to outlining of economic quantities of gold and copper mineralization, it will complement the silver production from the district and will bring a multi-element mix to the production profile.

George Gorzynski, P.Eng., and Nigel Hulme, P.Geo., Qualified Persons under the meaning of Canadian National Instrument 43-101, are responsible for the technical content of this news release. Chip and channel samples were collected from cleaned rock faces in old mine workings and from bedrock outcrops over a continuous representative interval using a moil and hammer, bagged, sealed and then securely stored at the IMPACT base camp until shipment. A total of 5% assay standards and blanks were inserted into every sample shipment as a quality control measure. All samples were shipped to the ALS Chemex preparation laboratory in Guadalajara (Mexico) where they were fine crushed (70% passing a 2mm screen), pulverized (85% passing a 75 micron screen) and a pulp split separated for assay by a riffle splitter. These pulps were shipped to the ALS Chemex laboratory in North Vancouver, Canada, where a 30-gram split of each was assayed for gold and silver by standard fire assay and a 10-gram split was analyzed for an additional 30 elements by ICP spectrometry. Samples high in zinc, lead or copper were then wet assayed to determine their values.

IMPACT Silver Corp. is a silver focused mining and exploration company with a producing silver operation at Zacualpan (Mexico), a new project with an operating processing plant at Zacatecas (Mexico) and other projects in the Dominican Republic. Energold Drilling Corp. (TSX VENTURE:EGD - News) owns 6.6 million shares of IMPACT.

Henk Krasenberg mit einer Zusammenfassung + Ausblick zu X-CAL:

    X-Cal Resources Ltd. (TSX-XCL: price January 16 - C$0.30)

When it comes to the attention of the media and the resource investment communities for mining and exploration activities, it is the State of Nevada that has been receiving the most. Not surprisingly, knowing that NEVADA is recognized as the 3rd largest mining gold producing state of the world, after South Africa and Australia. Many of the most productive gold mines are situated in Nevada, new mines are being brought to production and exploration activities are in full swing. If ever there will be a new major gold discovery, Nevada is one of the more likely places where it could happen. Especially the discovery of Cortez Hills by Placer Dome in 2003 gave a new strong impulse to the exploration activities because it represented a major change in thinking. The Cortez Hills discovery demonstrated that Carlin style deposits do also exist in the Cortez Trend and that the true potential of the Trend may lie at depth, contrary to previous thinking. Since then, a true revival of exploration programs has brought many companies, new and old, to the place of action. The presence of X-Cal Resources in Nevada has been there since 1993 when it started to acquire 50% of the rights to explore and develop the Sleeper Gold Properties from Kinross Gold Corporation (TSX-K) and an option to acquire their remaining 50% interest. As anyone in mining and metals remembers the nineties mainly as the years of depressed prices, it is not surprising that it took until January 2004 that X-Cal exercised the option to own the project for the full 100% and enter into a new joint venture with another Canadian company. The 2004, 2005 and early 2006 exploration programs included over 100,000 feet of core and reverse circulation drilling and resulted in the completion of a NI43-101 report in March 2006. X-Cal Resources' management deemed it wise to assemble a panel of professionals to independently review the Sleeper Gold Project and to make recommendations for ongoing work. A look at the professionals that participated in the panel, learns that it is probably the best possible team of specialists in Nevada mining that ever could and will be put together. Full information on the panel members and their reports can be found at the company's website, http://www.x-cal.com. Based on the reports and recommendations and other information, X-Cal's management determined that it was in the shareholders best interest to acquire the full 100% interest in the Sleeper Gold Property and become the sole operator and source of funding the project. In May, 2006, X-Cal succeeded to close a transaction with its joint venture partner to acquire their 50% interest for a payment of C$ 5 million and 10 million shares. This transaction made everything until that moment history and represented a new beginning, a new future for X-Cal Resources and the Sleeper Gold Project. Geologically, that new future started in August 2006 with the beginning of the first drilling of a major drill program designed to test each of five priorities, mine scale targets. The recommended exploration program is budgeted at US$ 15 million in total with a first phase of US$ 5 million. Reflecting the good relationship with Kinross is that they decided to take a private placement of shares last September, adding more than $ 1 million to X-Cal's treasury and increasing its total interest to 10.5% of X-Cal's total outstanding shares. The combination of a prime project situated on a major mineral trend in Nevada, the 100% ownership, a very extensive historical database, a clear vision on the future exploration potential, a truly impressive group of mining and exploration specialists as directors and consultants, the other properties in the portfolio, all coordinated by the dedicated management of Shawn Kennedy, gives me a good feeling for the future of X-Cal Resources. I am looking forward to times that could be exciting.
