That is to say, the upside for Aquiline is somewhat limited (although a "relief" rally could always create fireworks) but the downside, even if remote, is massive. On the other hand, IMA will more than likely drop by 30-40% in the highly likely event that the appeal goes against it, yet the very remote odds of prevailing come with "only" an immediate upside of perhaps 500%. That may seem like a lot, but not when considering how remote the odds are. After all, would you play a lottery where the grand prize was $5 but a ticket cost $1?

The best thing to do at this point for those who like to speculate is to do nothing and wait for the appeals decision to be announced, and then to look at these two stocks with a fresh mind. In the aftermath of such a major event, there are usually some solid opportunities to be had.

    Relax...just watch the PPT game.

Im unteren Artikel steht eigentlich alles drin was man wissen sollte.

Run rabbit run, shit in your pants and go home from where you don't belong, the weak hand gives the shares to the strong hands....... =)

..I have been following gold for better than twenty-five years and I'll have to admit that I don't recall seeing investors this discouraged in a long, long time. Maybe never! I think a lot of it has to do with a complete misunderstanding of what constitutes a bull market as well as how it functions. I read/been sent any number of commentaries about gold over the last month describing how the bull market is seasonal and May markets the time to sell.

Others like Steven Hochberg of Elliot Wave fame have come out and stated that gold is due for a severe decline that will take price down to US $450.00.
This is not the first time Mr. Hochberg's made such a claim. He was wrong before and I'm here to say that he's wrong now.

Then there's just pure fabrication. I skimmed an article the other day claiming that the well known gold analysts, the Aden Sisters, called an end to this leg up due to a technical failure. I had just read the article in question entitled "The Bubbling Metals" and the Aden Sisters made no such claim. When it comes to gold, misinformation is the rule rather than the exception...more

So here we are, about two years into a six year second phase of a three phase bull market for gold. The third phase, when it finally comes around, will feature the kid who cuts your grass telling you about the great gold stock he just bought. It is the shortest of the three phases and is also features the blow-off to the upside. It will be the most volatile and the one where the price surges the most. If I were to guess, I would think that phase two will top out at US $1,200 to $1,600 and phase three will reach US $3,000 per ounce. And that is if the dollar doesn't fold up its tent and go home. If that happens, all bets are off and gold could go to the moon.

A parliamentary committee has heard that visitors to South Africa would have to register with a local service provider before enjoying "international roaming" on their cellphones, Business Day reported on Wednesday. :D

The measures come as part of the Regulation of Interception of Communication Amendment bill being discussed by the justice committee.

The bill's aim is to help fight against organised crime and the use of cellphones to commit crimes. It requires that personal details of every cellphone user be recorded.

A clause in the bill says that a non-South African would have to supply full names, passport number and address before getting access to roaming from a local provider.

However, there are fears that this could result in lengthy queues at ports of entry and of costly administrative delays for cellphone companies. It could also lead to problems with the arrival of foreigners during the 2010 Fifa World Cup who would have queue up to register their phones before leaving international airports.

Representatives of cellphone companies said these measures would be difficult for their operations. They expected delays at airports.

    Pta woman's 9-hour jail ordeal

    2007-6-6 08:08

    Pretoria:

A woman who lives in Clydesdale near Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria spent nine hours in jail after a metro police officer accused her of wanting to park illegally during the rugby Test match between South Africa and England.

"And all I wanted to do was to get home," an upset Tammy Bulkin, 28, said on Tuesday.

She damaged a nerve and a sinew in her right arm, and a small bone in the same arm was dislodged when the policeman apparently manhandled her while trying to handcuff her.

She appeared in Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of crimen injuria, but the case was struck from the roll.

"I underwent an operation on the same arm in January and it was just healing nicely, before this incident."

    Had an operation

The drama began at 11:30 in Park Street near Loftus Versfeld when Bulkin was on her way home.

"When I wanted to get past the police roadblock, a metro policeman refused to let me through.

"I showed him my resident's pass, which we have to carry with us when there are rugby matches, but he said it wasn't valid because it was past the expiry date."

"I still wanted to explain, but he didn't want to listen."

The metro policeman requested her to move her vehicle out of the way, but she refused and phoned her mother.

While she was talking to her mother, the metro policeman banged on her car's bonnet with his hands.

"I told my mother the fucking bastard was hitting my car"".

Then he grabbed my keys and put them into his pocket.
He dragged me through the window of the car by my sore arm."

"I kept screaming at him that I had just had an operation on the arm and that it was painful."

Bulkin opened the car door quickly.

He said: " 'Now I'm going to teach you a lesson' and he cuffed my hands behind my back. ""He told me to shut up, bitch !."

Her mother and her brother, Kyle, arrived at the scene just before she was "shoved" into a metro police car and taken to Sunnyside police station.

"They locked her up in a cell with seven other women for nine hours and refused to let our attorney see her. Tammy was only released at 20:45 with a warning," said her mother.

    I'm emotionally exhausted.

They treated me like an absolute criminal, Tammy said.

She intends to lodge a civil claim against the metro police officer and the Tshwane Metro Council.

William Baloyi, spokesperson for the metro police, said they were not aware of the incident. :D

He encouraged Bulkin to contact the metro police so that it could be investigated.

Michael J. Kosares, of the highly regarded USAGOLD.com,
has served commentary at The Kiki Table titled :

    Turning Point ?

In this issue we resurrect the old Nuggets format to accommodate several analysts who surfaced last week to say that we may have reached a turning point in the gold market. If last week's lows hold, the corrective process took all of a 6% bite out of the price. The charts continue to display a bullish pattern of rising lows and strong buying on the dips. What's more, we are back within roughly $20 of the interim highs. Perhaps commodities analyst Dan Norcini said it best: "All in all, this week will sure go a long way to soothing the hearts of weary gold bulls who will probably be seen walking around town with a much lighter step than they possessed last weekend. All of you guys on the window ledges can come in now." As we have said all along, these corrections have proven to be little more than solid buying opportunities for shrewd gold buyers looking to add weight to the asset preservation side of the investment portfolio. :]

Midday Market Commentary From Trader Dan

    Author: Dan Norcini

    Dear CIGAs,

Comex Gold for August delivery closed at $675.10 , down $1.20 today.

Euro Gold was fixed at €496.488 for the London PM fix.

Gold was caught in a tug of war today between those buying it based on the weakness in the dollar and especially strength in the Euro, and selling brought about by the news that Spain continues to jettison its gold holdings. The Bank of Spain sold nearly a million ounces of its gold reserves during the month of May or around 28 tons. That was in addition to its sales of nearly 40 tons in both the months of March and April. Although it is old news, this sort of thing is never psychologically bullish for gold and some of the weaker longs decided to get out as a result with some aggressive shorts taking advantage of the situation and trying to press the market.

At this hour the HUI is being dragged down by general stock market weakness being unable to breach resistance near 344.

Fed chairman Bernanke put the kibosh on the recent dollar rally with dovishly construed talk on the US economy. The dollar found willing sellers as news of his speech hit the wires only to be countered somewhat by buying based on the ISM services number which came in higher than expected at 59.7 for May, its highest reading since April 2006. Technically the dollar looks vulnerable here having fallen below its 40 day moving average and its 50 day moving average. The 10 dma has now turned back down and is threatening to make a bearish downside cross back below the 20 dma. The region near 82.50 has been a tough nut for the dollar to crack as this former consolidation region from back in March and April has provided dollar bears a strategic position from which to launch further selling forays against the greenback.

Euro/Yen made another all time high today while Sterling/Yen made a 15 year high against the land of the falling currency. The Yen actually rose against the dollar for a change today.

That same speech of Bernanke however contained references to the inflationary effects of higher food and energy prices. That spooked bond market bulls with the result that yields rose across the curve. The yield on the two year actually hit 5% this morning, something which we have not seen since January of this year. Stock market bulls looking over at yields began getting nervous and decided to sell first and ask questions later. That drove down stocks across the board which were already acting a bit skittish over Chinese stock market weakness.

Gold seems to be consolidating last week’s gains here and at this point is caught in a type of range trade with mediocre volume being the standout feature. Open interest readings are a bit muddy right now since it is difficult to filter out the departing spreaders from other positions being put on and coming off. My own sense of things is that fund longs are slightly rebuilding while commercial shorts are increasing once again and fund shorts are dropping. Neither side has an advantage right now.

A comment regarding the sugar market – those who took the advice of one of the premier commodity analysts and went long sugar a couple of years ago are really feeling the pain right now. Sugar prices have collapsed 10 cents over the last year and are back to where they started nearly two years ago as the glut in global supplies is overwhelming demand right now. India has a bumper crop of sugar this year and there is talk that they are going to try to hold some of it off the market to keep prices from falling too much further. That high fructose corn syrup stuff has really hurt the sugar growing industry if you ask me. Chalk up another feather in the hat of corn growers at the expense of other producers. Sugar sure does look cheap down at these levels; however, that does not mean prices cannot fall further.

Wheat prices are on a real tear upward as drought in the Ukraine cuts production which has already suffered by less than ideal growing conditions in Australia, France and the US this year. Look for your morning box of cereal to get even more expensive. The rate at which wheat prices are rising could make Wheaties, “The Breakfast of Rich Champions” with the rest of the population eating sweet rolls due to cheap sugar prices!
