GO GATA!
This might as well be a political market forum today, rather than one on gold and the financial markets. The Gold Cartel and PPT crew have gone into pre-election market rigging overdrive. All the focus in this column the past many months about this most important aspect of the US financial markets is crystallizing into a last blitzkrieg push by General Paulson and his various platoons.
The coming election in two weeks has the potential to be one of the most important in American history … for if President Bush loses both houses there is a possibility he could be impeached, due to the reasons for getting into the Iraq mess. It seems to me, and it has been this way for months, the best and only shot for the Republicans was to goose the US financial markets to where they wanted them … to create fear (their most used tactic) that if the Republicans aren’t voted back in the markets might fall apart.
What you are witnessing is truly extraordinary for the degree to which the Orwellians are rigging the markets for the election. Thus, it is NO surprise to have the following surface this morning regarding President Bush:
The Top Three Talking Points will be
"Rising stock prices, low inflation (falling gas prices) and falling unemployment"
Bush to Address Economy Over Next 2 Days
By DEB RIECHMANN

WASHINGTON (AP) -- With his party facing a difficult midterm election, President Bush is focusing on the positive this week: a growing economy he is using to try to persuade voters to keep Republicans in power in Congress.
White House advisers say Bush is not trying to change the subject from a deteriorating situation in Iraq, and that he will continue to talk about Iraq and the war on terrorism as the Nov. 7 election nears. But Bush advisers said they think the president should get more credit for recent positive economic news.
On Monday, Bush is participating in a small business round-table at Urban Trust Bank in Washington. The bank, set up to provide mortgages, student loans and investment opportunities mainly to minorities, was founded by Robert Louis Johnson, who started BET - formerly Black Entertainment Television. Later, Bush is doing an interview with CNBC anchor Maria Bartiromo.
Overall, the economy grew at a 2.6 percent pace from April through June, compared with a 5.6 percent pace over the first three months of the year, which was the strongest spurt in 2 1/2 years. Still, voters remain uneasy even though gasoline prices have started dropping, the stock market is hitting record highs, and interest rates on credit cards and adjustable mortgages are leveling off.
White House spokesman Tony Fratto said Bush intends to mention how optimism about the economy and rising hopes for strong third-quarter earnings lifted the Dow Jones industrial average past 12,000 for the first time on Wednesday. The Conference Board's index of U.S. leading economic indicators rose last month, and the government reported last week that consumer prices fell in September by the largest amount in 10 months…
-END-
Gold was bombed this morning at its USUAL Gold Cartel bashing time in London, the dollar was propped up, and the DOW, which was due a good deal lower after Ford announced losing another zillion dollars, took off like a rocket after the NY opening … quickly rising over 100 points.
What is most numbing is how little talk there is of this market manipulation in the US. More and more articles are appearing, but they are mostly foreign (see below).
Course the GATA camp understands why. We DO NOT have a free financial market press in this country, which is why what GATA discovered so long ago is not allowed to be discussed in a serious way … even after our hosting two major gold conferences on two different continents.
What’s just as bad is to listen to this drivel from our Secretary of State who is off in Russia talking about principles, truth, investigative reporting, etc. US reporters might not get killed over our issues, they just won’t be allowed to be read, or will be blackballed forever if they do write the gold truth. This lightweight Rice has the audacity to talk about an "independent press" …
