    GO GATA!

It is a rare time when I have so little to offer. This is one of them. The precious metals have undergone a massive assault by The Gold Cartel, resulting in a huge spec liquidation and a building of a sizeable short position by someone(s).

When the gold market liquidates, as we have just witnessed, it usually takes about two weeks to compose itself to make another lasting run to the upside.

;(A total bore at the moment, but that is the way it is. :(

REUTERS: SWISS FRANC RISES ON MARKET RUMORS OF EXPLOSION AT JFK AIRPORT IN NEW YORK - TRADERS

As far as I could tell, gold went down on the same news. Figures.

The gold open interest fell 5975 contracts to 310,510, as the specs continue to liquidate. The silver open interest dropped 2082 contracts and is now around 4,000 contracts from its lows of recent past.

The yield on the pivotal 10-YR Treasury note fell to 4.74%, before going back up to 4.76%.

The dollar down .08 to 85.48.

Crude oil went up 35 cents to $65.11.

    More gold goodies:

Indian ex-duty premiums: $0.02, PM $9.48, with world gold at $584.75 and $585.70. Too low, and lavish, for legal imports. Indian domestic gold pricing seems very confused at present. The rupee firmed slightly and the Bombay Stock Exchange was up 2%.

TOCOM experienced massive liquidation. On volume equivalent to 51,282 Comex lots, open interest fell 14.8 tonnes (4,768 Comex equivalent). Mitsubishi’s data indicates the public slashed 21.3 tonnes from their long. The active contract closed down the limit – currently 60 yen – and world gold went out $8.60 below the NY close.

Yesterday’s $3 drop in NY saw 56,375 lots trading, with open interest falling 5,975 lots (18.6 tonnes). Combined CBOT volume was 53,409: open interest rose the equivalent of 729 Comex lots.

Today’s $2 rise in NY (which of course involved a rather dramatic $11 rally of the Asian morning low) saw estimated volume of 45,000 contracts.

    Summary:

HUI break-out above 353 was a false one since it couldn’t be confirmed by gold

HUI finds strong support in the 320-340 area

HUI must break its newly formed triangle formation to the upside before a new major “BUY’ could be generated (currently a close above 369 is required)

Gold failed to break-out of its triangle formation and fell back to the lower side ..

Gold finds strong support in the $590 - $600 area

Current formation will be taken out within a month.

If gold succeeds in breaking out to the upside then it will mark the end of the down-trend which started in May.

The price objective for gold once broken out to the upside exceeds $800+ ... End

Have a nice day and happy landing :D

    Dear Daily Reckoning Reader,

Recent weakness in the commodities markets means one thing to us:

    BUYING OPPORTUNITY!

If you suspect, as many Daily Reckoning analysts do, that not all the
cattle have crossed the road in the commodities bull market, then you're
    in good company:

Some of our top thinkers - Kevin Kerr, Jim Rogers, Justice Litle and
yours truly - believe the commodities market will be your best bet for
making money for the next five to ten years. In this market, even for a
more conservative individual, up to 20% of a quality investment portfolio
might rightly be allocated to commodities and currencies.

And that is not just oil and gold, but corn and sugar and other
    cost-of-living components.

    Ebenso sehr preiswert IMO.
