He is a smart guy, IMO
The other two, Stephen Roach of Morgan Stanley and Bill Gross of PIMCO, have given up their bearish outlook for the US and the world economy.
All this happened over a period of 15-20 days during which the financial markets seem to be signaling greater danger and uncertainty ahead than for quite some time.
If my prediction of the next recession to begin in 2006 were to come true it would be preceded by a significant drop in the stock market before the end of August. Who knows, it could have already started.
Busts follow booms as surely as the sunrise is followed by the sunset.
Jim Sinclair’s Commentary
This is not one slug of bullion but rather bullion purchased over time. That means future supply off the market. These fellows are not stupid. When the market is running scared the Saudi move with conviction. As far as jewelry use goes, that is questionable.
It boils down to a futures position with no margin and no margin call, making the buyer long 36 tonnes of gold. I would love to make that deal. Could the African central bank involved please call me?
Saudi firm buys gold for $480m

Private Saudi Al Othaim Jewellery Factory Group said it had bought 36 tonnes of raw gold from an African central bank for SR1.8 billion ($480 million).
'The price should include 20 per cent margin for the sharp fluctuations in gold prices in international markets,' Suleiman Al Othaim, board chairman of the Riyadh-based firm, said.
Delivery of the gold would start in the fourth quarter of this year, he said.
'We concluded the deal directly with the African central bank. The trade has its secrets, I can't tell you of which country it (the bank) is,' Al Othaim said.
