    Robert B. Zoellick, who stepped down as deputy secretary of state last summer, is now a Goldman Sachs managing director. As deputy secretary, Mr. Zoellick was the primary architect of the administration's policy toward Sudan. He also served as U.S. trade representative from February 2001 to February 2005.

    Mr Zoellick was a paid consultant on the Enron advisory board before joining the US administration.

    He also owned Enron shares worth between $15,000 and $50,000, which he sold after joining the administration.

    Mr Zoellick is the cabinet official in charge of negotiating trade deals for the Bush White House.

    He is trying to open up foreign markets to US companies, including ambitious plans for expanding the North American Free Trade Area (currently including Canada, US, and Mexico) to the rest of the Latin America - a goal strongly backed by US industry.

    ..Gold was showing pretty decent strength until the bottom simply fell out of the crude oil market. :(
    Once that occurred, all the new longs from this morning decided “the heck with it” and ran, while wary shorts gained renewed courage and decided to press their advantage. It didn’t help any that the Euro faded from off its highs after the ra-ra numbers came out (consumer confidence – more on that later).


    Gold needs to clear $658 on a closing basis to have a chance of a turnaround but more especially, it will need a convincing close above $666 to put an end to the bears’ hopes of pushing it down through $650.


    About the best that can be said for it right now is that the longer it continues this go nowhere period, the more the technical oscillators move lower and get a chance to press into oversold territory.

    Gold stagniert. Aktien steigen. Renten fallen.
    Ach ja Dollar bleibt auch stabil(bis 1,43,4356) . Das ist die einzige Chance,dass Gold steigt. Inflation steht nicht zur Debatte.

    PS an uzf: Für erfolgreiches Investieren, besonders in Edelmetallen, ist gegenwärtig Kenntnis der englischen Sprache nahezu unabdingbar. Besonders vorausschauende Leute lernen schon Mandarin oder lassen es die eigenen Kinder lernen (Jim Rogers).

    Der amerikanische Handelsminister Henry Paulson sagte indes, es gebe von mehreren Ländern positive Reaktionen auf Zoellicks Nominierung. :D


    Der 53 Jahre alte Zoellick hat in den vergangenen 20 Jahren innerhalb und außerhalb der amerikanischen Regierung Karriere gemacht, auch wegen seiner engen Beziehung zur Familie Bush. :P


    Unter anderem hat er einst in den „Zwei-plus-Vier“-Verhandlungen an der deutschen Wiedervereinigung mitgearbeitet.
    Derzeit arbeitet er für die Investment-Bank Goldman Sachs X(
