    Large-scale, 12km long mafic-ultramafic intrusion at
Sovereign Project, paving way for ground EM and initial
    diamond drilling

Expanded air-core drilling program continues to reveal a differentiated intrusion with
similar geology to the upper part of the Gonneville Intrusion

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Air-core drilling continues to define a layered, differentiated mafic-ultramafic intrusion
at Sovereign, extending over 12 kilometres in length.
    • The Sovereign Intrusion is interpreted to be flat lying, with geology consistent with the
upper portion of the Julimar mafic-ultramafic intrusion, as seen on the western edge of
    Chalice Mining’s Gonneville Intrusion.
    • The reconnaissance air-core drilling has provided an insight into the underlying, more
prospective, ultramafic portion of the intrusion in several areas along its 12km strike
    length.
    • An extensive ground electromagnetic (EM) survey is planned to commence next month
over the larger intrusion to map conductors beneath the gabbro.
    • In parallel with the ground EM survey, stratigraphic diamond drilling is also planned to
test the geometry of the ultramafic beneath the upper gabbroic rocks into the more
    ultramafic portion of the intrusion.

DevEx Resources (ASX: DEV, “DevEx” or “the Company”) is pleased to report encouraging results
from an additional 318 holes (8,456m) from its expanded reconnaissance air-core drilling program at
the Sovereign Ni-Cu-PGE Project in Western Australia. The drilling is continuing to map the prospective mafic-ultramafic intrusion, extending the strike to at
least 12km in length and providing information on the potential framework of the intrusion. Elevated palladium + platinum (PGE), multielement geochemistry and petrology are all consistent with
the upper portions of a layered differentiated mafic-ultramafic intrusion, ranging from leuco-gabbros,
to mela-norites, gabbronorites and olivine pyroxenite (metamorphic equivalent) These rocks are likely analogous to the western margin of Chalice Mining Limited’s Gonneville
Intrusion where gabbronorite and pyroxenite rocks form the upper differentiated layer with the lower,
more Ni-Cu-PGE rich, serpentinite (harzburgite) beneath.1 At Sovereign, DevEx has yet to drill beneath the upper differentiated mela-gabbronorite and pyroxenite
to determine the position of any lower serpentinite that could occur beyond the pyroxenite layer.

The difference is that the Gonneville Intrusion appears to be folded onto its side so exposing the lower
Ni-Cu-PGE rich serpentinite at surface. By contrast, the Sovereign mafic-ultramafic Intrusion is
currently interpreted to be flatter lying, with the more prospective ultramafic rocks (serpentinite) lying
beneath the pyroxenite and mela-gabbronorite. This interpretation is supported by several windows of mela-gabbronorite and pyroxenite seen within
the intrusion and rimmed by elevated palladium and platinum (PGE) and lithologies consistent with
the upper differentiated portion of the intrusion. A review of the previous Airborne EM (AEM) survey and limited ground follow-up undertaken by the
Company’s geophysical consultants, Newexco Pty Ltd, found that the AEM survey would have been
depth restrictive and therefore unlikely to have tested the full vertical extent of the prospective
intrusion, including the more prospective ultramafic which may underly the gabbroic rocks. As a result,
Newexco has recommended that a more extensive programme of ground EM is required to effectively
test for massive sulphide Ni-Cu-PGE mineralisation with priority given to several windows where the
lower ultramafic and mela-gabbronorites have been exposed near surface. In conjunction with these ground EM surveys, diamond drilling is also planned to understand the
geometry and extent of the intrusion beneath the upper gabbroic rocks. DevEx is currently exploring the western half of the Sovereign mafic-ultramafic Intrusion (E70/3405)
under an Earn-In Agreement with Australian Silica Quartz Group Ltd (‘ASQ’) (see the Company
Announcement on 1st June 2020). The eastern half of the intrusion is located within a granted
    tenement held by DevEx (E70/5365).

    Management Comment
Commenting on the latest results, DevEx Managing Director, Brendan Bradley, said: “These are very
encouraging developments for our exploration campaign at Sovereign and we now feel more confident
that we are systematically peeling back the geological layers and forming a clearer picture of the
exciting exploration opportunity in front of us. “Apart from the sheer scale of the intrusion at 12km in length, the important data being generated by
the air-core drilling have provided us with windows into the more prospective intrusion below the
overlying gabbroic rocks. “This has provided us with a clear picture of what to do next, which will include ground EM surveys
over the most prospective areas to define potential accumulations of sulphide mineralisation and
drilling of some selected stratigraphic diamond holes to give us a clearer picture of the geology,
dimensions, orientation and geometry of the Intrusion. “We are very encouraged by the progress of our exploration at Sovereign, and we feel that we are
getting much closer now to making the all-important exploration breakthrough that we are all striving
to achieve on behalf of our shareholders.”

Sokoman and Benton Announce Discovery of High-Grade Lithium-Bearing Pegmatites at Golden Hope in Southwestern Newfoundland

    Two samples, 110 m apart, return 1.95% and 0.49% Li2O respectively

St. John's, Newfoundland--(Newsfile Corp. - August 16, 2021) - Sokoman Minerals Corp. (TSXV: SIC) (OTCQB: SICNF) ("Sokoman") and Benton Resources Inc. (TSXV: BEX) ("Benton"), which are 50/50 members of a joint exploration alliance previously announced on May 10, 2021 (together, "the Alliance"), are pleased to announce that they have discovered a swarm of lithium-bearing pegmatite dikes on the Golden Hope Joint Venture Project in southwestern Newfoundland, Canada. Benton's President and CEO Stephen Stares and Director Michael Stares, along with Sokoman's President and CEO Timothy Froude and consultant Sean O'Brien, identified the pegmatites on a recent field visit, collecting three grab samples over a 110-m-width across the dykes. Two of the samples returned 1.95% Li2O and 0.49% Li2O, believed to be the first discovery of significant lithium mineralization on the Island of Newfoundland. Lithium occurrences in the Appalachian belt are well known and include important deposits in the Carolinas in the eastern US, as well as in the geologically equivalent Caledonides of Ireland.
The lithium mineralization is situated in a so-far unknown-sized zone or swarm of pegmatite dykes with an apparent width of 110 m and as-yet unknown strike length. Random grab samples were collected near what is believed to be the northern and southern limits of the zone and submitted to Actlabs in Ancaster, Ontario for analysis by Sodium Peroxide Fusion ICPOES + ICPMS.

Kannste in Good, Great Germany vergessen, denke ich..............................

Policies must allow nuclear to play its vital role, says UNECE

Nuclear power can be part of a broader portfolio alongside deploying other sustainable low- or zero-carbon technologies to decarbonise the global energy system and energy intensive industries, according to a new technology brief from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The publication highlights nuclear power as an important source of low-carbon energy that can contribute to attaining carbon neutrality and for policy-makers who wish to meet climate and sustainable development objectives using nuclear power should provide positive, long-term policy signals for new nuclear development.

The nuclear technology brief is one in a series of energy technology briefs published by UNECE to help mitigate climate change and accelerate deployment of low-carbon technologies. The new publication was prepared by the UNECE Task Force on Carbon Neutrality and a dedicated team of high-level international experts across the entire energy community. It reflects findings from the Workshop on the Role of Nuclear Energy to Attain Carbon Neutrality in the UNECE Region held on 23 November 2020, and the Subregional Workshop on Attaining Carbon Neutrality in the UNECE Region held on 24 November 2020.
"Nuclear power is an important source of low-carbon electricity and heat that contribute to attaining carbon neutrality," the document says. "They have played a major role in avoiding carbon dioxide emissions to date. Decarbonising energy is a significant undertaking that requires the use of all available low-carbon technologies. Analyses indicate that the world's climate objectives will not be met if nuclear technologies are excluded."
Some 292 nuclear power reactors are currently in operation in the UNECE region, accounting for 20% of total electricity generation and 43% of low-carbon generation. However, fossil fuels still account for over half of electricity generation in the UNECE region.
In the UNECE region, 20 countries currently operate power reactors, with nuclear accounting for over 30% of total electricity generation in 11 countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine). Fifteen countries have new reactors under construction or under development. Seven UNECE member States are in the process of developing nuclear power programmes for the first time.
The technology brief notes a number of countries - including Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Russia, Ukraine, the UK and the USA - have explicitly stated that nuclear power will play an important role in reducing their national emissions in the future. Belgium and Germany have announced their phase-out of the use of nuclear power, in 2025 and 2023 respectively.
Over 70 reactors have been shut down in the UNECE region since 2000, for political, economic or technical reasons. UNECE notes that, in most cases, these have been replaced at least partly by fossil-fuel power generation, therefore representing a setback for climate mitigation efforts. Preventing the premature closure of further nuclear power plants is seen by the International Energy Agency and the International Atomic Energy Agency as an urgent priority for addressing climate change.
Nuclear power has the potential to increase its integration with other low-carbon energy sources in a future decarbonised energy mix, the techology brief says. As nuclear power plants produce both low-carbon electricity and heat, they also offer opportunities to decarbonise energy intensive industries. For example, there is potential to scale up low or zero-carbon steel, hydrogen and chemical production to decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors.

UNECE says nuclear power is a cost-competitive option for generating electricity in many parts of the world. Low-cost financing and market frameworks could lessen the burden of high up-front capital costs ranging from USD5-10 billion for large nuclear power plants. Future microreactors and small modular reactors (SMRs) are likely to be easier to finance and support technology interplay with variable renewable energy.
"For those countries who choose to implement this technology, nuclear power is an important source of low-carbon electricity and heat that can contribute to attaining carbon neutrality and hence help to mitigate climate change and attain the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” said UNECE Executive Secretary Olga Algayerova.
    Favourable policies needed

UNECE says policy-makers who wish to meet climate and sustainable development objectives using nuclear power should: establish a level playing field for all low-carbon technologies; provide positive, long-term policy signals for new nuclear development; accelerate the development and deployment of SMRs and advanced reactor technologies; and secure the long-term operation of existing nuclear plants.
"This technology brief has been developed as part of UNECE's assessment of integrated approaches to meeting the world's climate objectives," said Scott Foster, director of UNECE's Sustainable Energy Division. "Our analyses show that our climate objectives cannot be met if technologies such as nuclear power are excluded. That reality creates an imperative for governments to put in place policy frameworks that deliver the world's social, environmental and economic objectives in an agnostic, technology-neutral way."
King Lee, vice-chair of the UNECE Group of Experts on Cleaner Electricity Systems, together with experts from nuclear and energy communities, supported the development of the brief as part of UNECE Carbon Neutrality project. Lee said: "The brief provides an overview of the important role of nuclear energy technologies - both existing large-scale reactors and innovative SMR technologies - as part of a low-carbon energy mix in providing a range of energy services, such as dispatchable electricity, district heating, high-temperature process heat and hydrogen production."
The publication of the nuclear technology brief was welcomed Sama Bilbao y León, director general of the World Nuclear Association.
"I applaud the UNECE for the publication of this technology brief on nuclear technology, which provides valuable insights for governments wishing to develop forward looking policy signals that facilitate new nuclear energy development," she said. "The thought leadership of governments and policymakers is essential to instil confidence and incentivise long-term planning and investment in nuclear energy projects, which could play a very important role helping decarbonise the entire economy in many countries."
