Yukon Resources Corp.: Sagar Property Assay Results Return Multiple Values Greater Than 1% Uranium, and Greater Than 30.0 Grams Gold

    2006-12-14 14:09 ET - News Release

    TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/14/06

Yukon Resources Corp. (Yukon) (OTCBB: YUKR)(FWB: YE5) has received the final assays of its summer and fall exploration programs from the Sagar Uranium - Gold Property located in the Labrador Trough of Northern Quebec.

High grade uranium, gold and copper results have been returned from several areas on the property. A total of 6 samples returned values greater than 1.0% U and 27 samples were greater than 0.1% U. Gold values over 30.0 g/t occurred in 6 samples and 25 samples were greater than 1.0 g/t.

Assay Results Enhance Yukon's Interpreted Target Areas

The results support the current interpretation of a concentration of mineralization along specific geological units and associated with structures defined by geophysical surveys as well as field mapping and prospecting. In addition, new discoveries of mineralized boulders along the interpreted glacial ice direction has increased the confidence placed in areas targeted as the up ice source areas for the spectacular mineralization of the Mistamisk Boulder Field (previously reported, 70 boulders assayed an average of 64.9 g/t Au and 1.3% U) (news release Nov 10, 2006)

Areas with significant mineralization include; uranium and gold in the Eagle West area located to the south of the Mistamisk boulder field; gold-uranium in the Red Tail area situated along an important east-west bounding structure; uranium-gold in the Osprey area; copper-gold in the Crowbush area; copper-cobalt in the Tache Lake area (southwest of the Red Tail area) and copper in the Delhi Pacific and Le Geant areas.

    Eagle West Target Area

The Eagle West area is approximately 1 km down ice from the Mistamisk boulder field and 2 km up ice from the uranium in water sample anomalies reported by Yukon (news release Nov 10, 2006). Samples were taken from large angular boulders and possible sub-crop along a 1km trend parallel to the Romanet River approximately 1km south of the Mistamisk boulder field. Sample material indicates that the source area is proximal to the sampled locations.

The style of mineralization (albitized green mudstone) and metal associations (lead, selenium, nickel, barium) are similar to those associated with the Mistamisk boulder field. Numerous significant samples were returned with highlights of greater than 1% U, 213.0 g/t Au, 2.91% U, 10.4 g/t Au and 2.41% U and 17.3 g/t Au.

    Mistamisk Boulder Field-Extension

The main Mistamisk boulder field was expanded beyond the original 250 x 500m area with selected samples assaying 1.45% U, 43.4 g/t Au and 0.06% U and 32.5 g/t Au. Of significance, mineralized boulders were also found 1.3 km north (down ice) of the main boulder field with results including 1.89% U and 42.4 g/t Au. All these samples support the concept that the potential mineralized source area is around the previously announced water anomalies which are located several kilometers to the south of the Mistamisk boulder field.

    Red Tail Target Area

The Red Tail area is located on the eastern end of an important east-west bounding structure and the mineralization occurs in outcrop associated with felsic dykes. Assay highlights include 0.53% U, 125.0 g/t Au, 0.42% Mo; 0.48% U, 37.2 g/t Au, 1.31% Mo; and 0.02% U, 159.0 g/t Au, 0.65% Mo. The mineralization also contains significant copper, up to 0.63%, selenium (1.0%) and lead (0.39%)

    Crowbush Target Area

The Crowbush area is situated in the center of the interpreted east-west structure. The water geochemical survey defined an extensive area of low pH bogs surrounded by uranium - molybdenum and uranium - copper anomalies on the Crowbush Grid. The Crowbush also contains an alteration anomaly outlined by the water survey. The area contains numerous low grade uranium and copper anomalies in outcrop. Of significance, a sample of subcrop returned 5.53% Cu and 0.2 g/t Au in the alteration anomaly area. Another sample of outcrop returned greater than 1% Cu and 0.6 g/t near the pH anomaly. The water survey results have identified this area as a high priority target for the upcoming winter drill program.

    Significant Copper Results

Significant copper results were returned from the Le Geant area, with grab samples grading up to 13.1% copper. From the Delhi Pacific showing samples returned up to 17.8% copper. The Tache Lake showing located south of the Red Tail area returned values of up to 11.3% copper, 0.27% cobalt and 2.41% copper and 0.59% cobalt.

A new showing in the Viking area appears to be a new style of mineralization for the Sagar area, assaying 6.07% copper, 0.17% cobalt, 0.22% mercury, and 5.69% selenium. For the first time, the exploration has identified nickel on the property with the sample assaying 1.64% nickel.

    Table of Assay Results

A table of assay results is presented below for uranium, gold and copper. We have also provided a map of Sagar which outlines exploration target area, 2006 assays and previous drilling indicated by dots on the following map. These assay results highlight the high tenor and the widespread distribution of the mineralization on the Sagar Property.

Note: The company is awaiting over assay results on select samples shown as greater than 1% and these will be reported once received from the lab.

    UNSERE TOP-EMPFEHLUNG 2007

Robert Van Tassell Appointed to the Company's Board of Directors

    2006-12-01 17:48 ET - News Release

    TAMPERE, FINLAND -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/01/06

Gondwana Energy Ltd. (OTCBB: GNWA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Robert Van Tassell of High River, Alberta as a new director to the Company's Board of Directors.

Mr. Van Tassell has not had any material direct or indirect interest in any of our transactions or proposed transactions over the last two years. A description of his business experience is set forth below.

Robert Van Tassell is a fortunate addition to Gondwana's board of directors, due to his world-class experience and wide-ranging success. Involved in the Canadian mining industry for 42 years before retiring from full-time ventures in 1998, he spent the last 16 years as Vice President of Exploration for precious metals with Goldcorp Inc., formerly known as Dickenson Mines.

Exploration teams led by him are credited with such significant discoveries as the Husky Mine, which produced over 17 million ounces of silver, the Minto copper deposit, currently under development for production by Sherwood Copper and more recently Goldcorp's famed High Grade Zone which is currently producing in excess of 500,000 ounces of gold per year at a grade of over 2.0 ounces per ton gold. Mr. Van Tassell's extensive experience with gold, silver and copper mining makes him uniquely qualified to serve on the Gondwana board.

"Robert's success in helping to discover some of the more famous mines discovered in the Canadian Shield should provide a tremendous benefit to our company as we move forward in Finland. Robert's experience is balanced between precious and base metals as is our current portfolio in Finland which consists of gold, copper and nickel assets," stated Dan Hunter, CEO of Gondwana Energy Ltd.

From 1984 through 1993, Mr. Van Tassell served as a board member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) -- as Chairman of the Program and Environmental Committees. At the PDAC's annual conference in 2000, his many contributions to the geological community were honored when he was presented the coveted Special Achievement Award.

Mr. Van Tassell has also served as a director of the Yukon Chamber of mines for eleven years, two of them as President. He served four terms on the board of the Northern Resource Conferences, two of them as Chairman and has taught introductory and advanced prospecting courses for the Chamber of Mines. He is a life member of the CIM and the Geological Association of Canada.

Reached for comment, Mr. Van Tassell stated, "I have been aware of the potential for new mine discoveries in Finland for a long time now. It is no secret that Finland's untapped geology is strikingly similar to that found in Canada's Canadian shield. It is with great optimism that I add my experience to the board of Gondwana and embark with the team to fully exploit our initial assets and to assist with the evaluation of additional acquisitions."

Mr. Van Tassell continued, "I believe the Company's approach to building a company focused on the development of both gold and base metals, especially nickel, should prove a winning formula. It is rare today to find a country such as Finland which offers first world geopolitical stability while simultaneously offering third world mining possibilities and I am proud to be part of the team."

Gondwana Energy Ltd. has previously announced its intention to change its name to better reflect its new direction. The proposed new name will be FinMetal Mining Ltd. and shareholder approval for the name change will be sought as soon as practical.

Abcourt agrees to buy Aldermac mine

    2006-11-22 10:13 ET - News Release

    Mr. Renaud Hinse reports

ABCOURT MINES INC. SIGNS AN OPTION TO BUY THE FORMER ALDERMAC PROPERTY IN THE ROUYN-NORANDA AREA WITH SUBSTANTIAL HISTORICAL COPPER-ZINC RESOURCES

Abcourt Mines Inc. signed an option to buy the former Aldermac mine in the Rouyn-Noranda area on Nov. 15, 2006. This option is conditional upon the approval of the TSX Venture Exchange and the Abcourt board.

The Aldermac mine is a former producer with about 1.7 million short tons of historical resources with a grade of 1.5 per cent to 1.6 per cent copper, about 3 per cent zinc and some precious metal values.

The property is located about 13 kilometres west of Rouyn-Noranda, in northwestern Quebec, along Highway 117, near the Ontario Northland railway line. The mine is serviced by a three-compartment 1,625-foot shaft (495 metres) and drifts on nine levels. The mine was in production from 1936 to 1943 and about two million short tons of massive sulphides containing 1.78 per cent copper, 0.2 ounce per ton silver, 0.02 ounce per ton gold and an unknown amount of zinc were extracted. Because the price of zinc was very low, it was usual at that time to discard the zinc in the tailings rather than make a zinc concentrate.

In the old mine, the Aldermac orebodies comprised three major lenses (No. 3, 4 and 5) accompanied by several small pods considered uneconomic at that time. The ore lenses strike roughly east, dip steeply to the south and are only roughly conformable with the enclosing rocks. The contact of massive ore with the underlying stringer-type mineralization and host tuff units suggest that the ore formed dome-like features. The entire orebody measures 180 feet in thickness, 300 feet along strike and 1,400 feet in the down-dip direction.

The ore is mineralogically quite simple, comprising principally pyrite with lesser pyrrhotite and carrying minor chalcopyrite, sphalerite and magnetite in a gangue of quartz. From this ore, two concentrates were produced: a copper concentrate which ran 22 per cent copper, 0.06 ounce per ton gold and 3.5 ounce per ton silver; and a pyrite concentrate assaying 46 per cent sulphur (Northern Miner; Nov. 5, 1936). One hundred short tons of ore produced 8.18 short tons of copper concentrate and 55 short tons of pyrite concentrate.

The No. 4 lens was a one-million-ton massive pyrite body containing an average content of 1.75 per cent copper and 1.23 per cent zinc with the marginal vein-like bodies of pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite rich material. A small amount of the present dump material on the property consists of significant amounts of visible banded sphalerite with the zinc rich layers averaging one to two centimetres in thickness alternating with pyrite layering up to 10 centimetres thick. This type of mineralization was either ignored by the miners and left as uneconomic pods of massive sulphides or discarded in the tailings as smelters charges penalized concentrates with a high zinc content.

Below the ninth level, the massive ore of the No. 4 zone passes into disseminated sulphides contained within a highly chloritic alteration zone.

In contrast to the No. 4 zone, the No. 3 lens measured 260 feet along strike, 30 feet in thickness and extended 470 feet down dip. This lens contained about 220,000 short tons of massive pyrrhotite averaging 2.68 per cent copper and 2 per cent zinc. This ore was zoned; massive pyrrhotite formed the bulk of the actual part of the mass while pyrite occupied the margins and graded into pyritiferous-siliceous fragmental rocks.

No information can be found on the No. 5 lens, which reportedly contained around 100,000 short tons of ore.

In 1987, prior to the discovery of the No. 7 and 8 zones, Seadrift International Exploration Ltd., which later became Deak Resources Corp. and subsequently A.J Perron Gold Corp., estimated the ore reserves in the old shaft area as shown below.

Description Short tons % Copper % Zinc

Old workings 412 feet to 698 feet depth 373,480 1.76 Not determined
Shaft pillar first to ninth levels 100,000 1.50 to 2.00 Not determined
    1954 drilling 732 feet to 1,125 feet depth 150,000 1.11 3.59
623,480 1.60 plus or minus Not determined

This information comes from a Deak Resources report titled Aldermac Technical Summary dated
November, 1989, from an unknown author, filed with the Department of Natural Resources of Quebec.

Subsequently, detailed statigraphic drilling during 1987 and 1988 to the east of the Aldermac mine site resulted in the discovery by Seadrift International Exploration Ltd. of three new mineralized massive sulphide lenses less than 100 feet from an exploration drift on the ninth level. After the initial discovery hole in August of 1987 a total of 25 drill holes totalling about 41,400 feet of diamond drilling were collared to delineate these lenses.

The No. 8 sulphide zone lies approximately 1,000 feet east of the Aldermac shaft at about a vertical depth of 1,000 feet. The No. 7 zone, which may be the faulted extension of the No. 8 lens lies about 200 feet to the south. Detailed core logging by Seadrift geologists (principally Paul Jones) indicates that the new mineralization clearly represents a classical Noranda type massive sulphide deposit, as evidenced by the crude metal zoning between the copper and zinc mineralization as well as the presence of an underlying hydrothermal vent containing stringer-type copper mineralization.

The No.8 zone is currently understood to be an irregularly shaped pod or lens, dipping at 45 degrees north along an east-west axis on strike with the mine series hosting the old Aldermac mine ore lenses. The dimensions of the No. 8 lens has been established to be 300 feet along strike, 350 feet down dip with a thickness of 60 feet. In addition to the main (No. 8) lens, an upper zone occurs 100 feet up dip from the No. 8 pod. The No. 7 zone, which was actually intersected first, lies 200 feet to the south and east of the main No. 8 zone.

The massive sulphide mineralization in these lenses ranges in drill core intersections from 25 to 161 feet with the grades varying from 1 to 2 per cent copper, 1 to 5 per cent zinc, 0.5 to 1.05 ounce per ton silver and trace to 0.04 ounce per ton gold. Individual assays ranged up to 7.4 per cent copper, 21.05 per cent Zn and 0.15 ounce per ton Au. A crude zonation from a copper rich base to a zinc enriched upper level within the massive sulphides has been noted.

In part, the No. 8 massive sulphide pod is in contact with a discordant, irregular pipe-shaped zone of intense chloritic alteration and copper sulphide, stringer-type mineralization.

The No. 7 zone differs from the No. 8 zone in that no chloritic alteration pipe is present. The syenite intrusive complex, which abuts the sulphides has either engulfed and destroyed the footwall rocks or displaced the alteration zone. Further drilling may yet enlarge the No. 7 zone.

The historical ore reserves of the No. 7 and No. 8 zones, as calculated by Wright Engineers, a well-known firm of consultants, include 1.15 million short tons of proven and probable reserves grading 1.5 per cent copper, 4.13 per cent zinc, 0.91 ounce per ton silver and 0.014 ounce per ton gold.

This information also comes from a Deak Resources report titled Aldermac Technical Summary dated November, 1989, from an unknown author, filed with the Department of Natural Resources of Quebec.

The ore reserves reported in the Aldermac technical summary were prepared before the introduction of National Instrument 43-101 and would today be considered as resources of various categories. No additional information is available at this time and the historical resources have not been verified and should not be relied upon. However the company believes that these estimates, particularly the one prepared by Wright Engineers, were estimated by competent persons. This statement is made by Renaud Hinse, professional engineer, president of the company. Mr. Hinse is a qualified person.

Abcourt\'s ambition is to become an important producer of base metals in particular zinc. It plans to start with the construction of an open-pit mine with a 1,800-tonne-per-day mill at Barraute, Que., and to make this mine its main operating base. The Aldermac mine with substantial copper-zinc resources could become in the near term a satellite operation which could be used either to extend the life of the Abcourt-Barvue mine or to justify a mill expansion to treat both ore at the same time.

    Finnland - BESTE geologische Voraussetzungen

    Nordic heavyweights

In news that typifies the Nordic theme of this issue of
    IM, Talvivaara Mining (http://www.talvivaara.com), OMG
Finland, Metso Minerals and Varma Mutual Pension
Insurance have formed a co-operation and financing
consortium to ensure adequate financial and technical resources to
take the Talvivaara project through a Bankable Feasibility Study and
associated studies to an investment decision. As a result, Talvivaara
has €8-10 million in available funds to spend on research, development
and feasibility studies, mainly during 2006.
The Talvivaara polymetallic deposits in Sotkamo, Finland, comprise
the largest known sulphide nickel resource in Europe with 340 Mt in
classified nickel resources, with substantial amounts of copper, zinc
and cobalt. The orebodies are situated 25-30 km southeast of
Kajaani and 20-25 km southwest of the centre of Sotkamo, in a largely
uninhabited part of the Kainuu district.
The consortium not only brings world leading technological knowhow
and financial strength into the project, but also offers to
Talvivaara exceptionally advanced research and development
resources in hydrometallurgy and bulk materials handling. Besides
the newly formed consortium, Talvivaara's partners include leading
global companies like Sandvik-Tamrock, Grundfos and Outokumpu.
Talvivaara also has very active co-operation with the Geological
Survey of Finland, Tampere University of Technology, Helsinki
University of Technology, National Technology Agency of Finland
(TEKES) and Kainuu Employment and Economic Development
    Centre.
OMG Finland is a subsidiary of OM Group, which is a leading,
vertically integrated international producer and marketer of valueadded,
metal-based specialty chemicals, powders, alloys and related
materials. Metso, covered elsewhere in this issue, is of course a
world leader in mineral processing and bulk handling equipment.
Varma Mutual is the largest private sector pension insurance
company and the biggest private investor in Finland.
Talvivaara started a large in-situ bio heap leaching demonstration
at Sotkamo in August 2005. The technology should enable cost
effective, environmentally friendly exploitation of the resource using
locally occurring bacteria as leaching agents. The company aims to
start production in 2009. When in full-scale operation, the mine will
produce 30,000 t/y of nickel per annum. Substantial amounts of
by-product copper, zinc and cobalt will also be produced. The life of
the mine is estimated at 25 years or more. The deposits will be
mined as open pits with very favourable waste to ore ratios. The
location is ideal, providing access to labour as well as power, water,
    and rail and road transportation.

    Nickel boom
    Pertti Lamberg, Senior Research Metallurgist
    - Applied Mineralogy with Outokumpu
Research (see Tails page) explains why
Finland is in the middle of nickel exploration
    boom. “The most significant nickel
resources of the EU are found in Finland,
other important resources are in Spain,
Greece, Albania and Sweden. The reasons
for [the boom] are high nickel price, high
nickel ore potential in Finland, good
    infrastructure and friendly mining legislation.
    Publicly available exploration data is
exceptionally extensive and of good quality.
There are numerous nickel mining and
    exploration projects, e.g. Talvivaara in
    Sotkamo, Keivitsa in Sodankylä, Finn
Nickel’s projects in Southern Finland and
    exploration projects of several international
    mining companies, mainly in Lappland.
    Vesa-Jussi Penttila, CEO of FinnNickel
notes his country’s long history of nickel
production. Mining started at the Makola
(late 1930s) and the Kaulatunturi (early
1940s) nickel deposits, and over 40 Mt of
nickel ore has been mined since. Nickel
smelting and refining started, using the
electric furnace, in the early 1940s at
Kolosjoki. Flash smelting began in the 1960s
in Harjavalta and Pressure Acid Leach (PAL) at
OMG in Kokkola in 1993. He describes
Fennoscandia as one of the world’s greatest
nickel smelting and refining areas, including
Finland with Norilsk Nikel’s Severonikel and
    Petchenganikel, and Falconbridge’s
    Kristiansand. He says Fennoscandian smelting
and refining capacity is about a quarter of
world production, all located less than 1,000
    km from FinnNickel’s deposits.
His company’s strategy is based on
    acquisitions from Outokumpu and the
Ministry of Trade and Industry – old,
‘forgotten’ deposits. He does not plan any
grassroots exploration. Both open pit and
underground mines are possible, and would
be operated by contractors. He expects
flotation to be the main process to produce
nickel concentrate, but leaching will “be
    carefully examined.”
For instance, the Äetsä, Mäntymäki deposit
is within 15 km of Dragon’s Vammala
    concentrator (which has spare capacity).
FinnNickel has large resources to develop
new mines – 5.8 Mt of nickel ore and 2.8
Mt of copper-cobalt ores. It also has
sufficient ore reserves to develop fast track
operations – 2.2 Mt of nickel ore and 0.14 Mt
of copper-cobalt ore. Pentilla considers the
    Valkeisenranta-Särkiniemi-Sarkalahti mining
camp in Leppävirta community to be his
    best prospect.

"I am extremely optimistic about the potential of FinMetal's gold, copper and nickel projects. Volatile markets demand that management embrace an approach to commodity selection, regional selection and ultimately, project specific selections which can position the company to prosper in any likely economic scenario. Today's announcement is the only the beginning of what we believe will be a very exciting future for shareholders," stated Daniel Hunter, the company's Chairman and CEO.

Mr. Hunter continues by saying, "Finland, a member of the EU, is a revitalized mineral-rich country that has historically been a top producer of copper and nickel and is now being compared to Canada's famous Canadian shield which has birthed numerous precious and base metals mines. Similar to Canada, Finland welcomes foreign participation in the development of their highly promising mining sector and shareholders are subsequently able to reap the potential rewards for the risks they accept. Additional major mining companies like Inco, Anglo American and Goldfields all recognize the favorable political climate and vast geological promise Finland has to offer. We consider ourselves fortunate to have successfully negotiated this transaction with FinMetal Mining OY and to have the opportunity to be part of Finland's dynamic success.
