A SMALL TOWN IN FINLAND
Monday, June 19, 2006
Kittila, Finland – The second bottle of Chivas is making its rounds, and the golfers are streaming in from the 9th hole under the midnight sun 150 klicks north of the Arctic Circle. My new friend Seppo, who is the mayor of this Lapland burg of 6,000, nurses a Cohelo and sips his Scotch from a wooden cup, holding court on what bastards the NGOs are, but they will never mess with Finland, or at least not Lapland, not on his watch, no Sir.
No, Greenpeace and Earthworks are chump change to this tiny country that has held off Swedish kings since the 1300s, and the Nazis and the Russians in the past century. You screw with the Lappish at your own peril. Want proof of this? When Hitler invaded Finland, the Lappish of Kittila burned their entire 145-year-old town down to the ground, and headed for the ramparts to encamp in the woods. The only thing they left standing was the church, and even the Nasties couldn’t do much with that.
Seppo has delivered a lengthy rant earlier this day, welcoming Toronto gold-miner Agnico-Eagle to his town. The 200 new mining jobs Agnico will create will cut Kittala’s unemployment by half. Or maybe not, because many of Agnicos’s new miners will have come from Helsinki and beyond to return to their native village – a place they never wanted to leave, but there was no work there.
It is a nice problem to have, if you are mayor of a small town. Yes, we’re building a mine here, and if you are a Greenie and you don’t like it, stand in line behind the Soviet Union and the Nazis, because you will fit right in and the Finns will outlast you. And the Lappish will pass a shot of their vodka around for breakfast, then come find you with their elegant Sako rifles.
The winglet adorning the wingtip of this Airbus A-320 is fixed upon a point, pivoting a perfect two-minute turn, and by the time we have returned our tray-tables and our seatbacks to their upright positions, it’s obvious that the guys driving this Airbus have decided to tell the autopilot to take a hike. We are crosswind over the field, making the downwind turn, and it is perfect. Finland reveals herself like a virgin bride, all verdant and resplendent in her waters, rivers, creeks, mountains and lakes. We are 40 pax on this airplane built for 200 souls on board, and with the exception of Agnico-Eagle’s brass, none of us has been here before.
The airstrip appears out of nowhere, and this is supposed to be Arctic tundra, but it is not. It is as green as northern Idaho on a fey May day. We finish our turn into the downwind leg, and fly what amounts to a lazy Cuban 8, a lopsided loop on the base leg, not straight in because there is a mountain in our way, we could buzz it but why scare the girls? Twenty klicks downwind we make the turn, zagging around the ski hill, straightening out the 8, now the slats deploy and agree, flaps down, gear down, we drag ourselves slowly in under the Lappish sky, the Rolls-Royce engines humming a bored rumble. Up come the numbers on the runway and there is the slightest of chirps. Something says we have landed, but the shock absorbers haven’t got the news.
Yes, a pilot can speak poetry. They were cleared for an instrument approach, but as the left-hand man told us later, we were long on time and long on fuel. Why not take in the view? Even the stews hadn’t been there before. To shoot straight in to Kittila on the gauges would be like shooting Chivas Regal, or a fine Chateuneuf du Pape, intravenously. There are some things a guy just doesn’t do.
What a nice drive, and what a setting to meet Seppo and see Agnico-Eagle’s new gold mine. Seppo’s kids are coming home, and life is good in the Arctic. And we have met some interesting people, including Agnico’s CEO, Sean Boyd, his mill-builder Mike Timmins, and Barry Allan of Research Capital, who wisely financed John Ryan’s purchase of the Galena, Coeur and Caladay mines from Dennis Wheeler. Plus a pile of Toronto and Swiss and Australian analysts, none of whom thought Dennis got the better end of that deal, or would put their kids into Coeur stock.
One of these days Northwest Orient Airlines will deliver our luggage, which contains our notes and business cards, and we’ll be able to use last names for a follow-up rant. And we will be able to tell you about mines in Quebec and Ontario that will produce gold, silver, zinc and heat for a hungry world. Suffice right now to hear what Seppo told us that morning. What do you do in the summer here in the Arctic? Well, he said, we make love and we fish. And what do you do in the winter? Says he, We don’t fish.
But Seppo was pulling our chain. The local Kittila folks tell us that in the winter, the ice-fishing is very good.
340 Mio. Tonnen Nickelprojekt in Finnland.
Talvivaara Mining Company Ltd
Talvivaara is an emerging mining company with focus on the development and commercial exploitation of the Talvivaara polymetallic deposits in Sotkamo, Finland. The Talvivaara deposits comprise the largest known sulphide nickel resource in Europe with 340 million tonnes in classified ore resources. The orebodies also contain substantial amounts of copper, zinc and cobalt.
Talvivaara's key technology is Bioheapleaching, which is utilized to extract metals from the ore. The technology enables cost effective and environmentally friendly exploitation of the resource using locally occurring bacteria as leaching agents.

MISTAMISK MYSTERY
The spectacular mineralization found in the Mistamisk Boulder Field has fueled an ongoing drive to discover its source since the late 1980's. The Mistamisk Boulder field is approximately 500 X 250 meters in size and contains many radioactive boulders. In a Virginia Mines report, 70 boulders assayed an average of 64.9 g/t Au and 1.3% U (with values up to 640 g/t Au and 4.11% U ). Yukon is the direct beneficiary of the extensive exploration efforts conducted by Virginia Mines and other past operators. These programs have shown that the Sagar Property is characterized by an impressive amount of uranium, gold, copper and lead/zinc mineralization of different styles and potential deposit models.
Armed with this historical data, Yukon, in the summer/fall of 2006 conducted an extensive field exploration program discovering highly mineralized uranium boulders to the north and south of the Mistamisk Boulder field. Quaternary work has confirmed the direction of the ice flow that produced the boulder field and initial water sample results have produced distinct uranium anomalies up ice of the boulder field. Yukon now believes that the potential source area of the boulder field has been identified and is planning a Winter Drill Program to test this hypothesis.
A property-wide water survey was carried out in July/August, with the objective of delineating concealed U-Au-Cu targets. Preliminary interpretation of these results indicates that the most extensive and consistent uranium anomaly on the Sagar property occurs in an area centered approximately 2 km south of the Mistamisk Boulder Field.
ROYAL MONTREAL GRID WATER SURVEY RESULTS AND RADIOMETRIC ANOMALY
Yukon has now received the complete results from a 600-sample water survey undertaken in July/August, 2006.
The water survey anomaly is approximately 2.5 km long and up to 600 m wide, oriented in a northwest direction. It is coincident with the radiometric anomaly delineated on the Royal Montreal grid during the September ground geophysical program, which may represent part of a radioactive dispersal fan. Quaternary investigations during July/August led to the interpretation of a predominantly northward direction of glacial transport and a relatively short transport distance (less than 5 km). The combination of geochemical and geophysical anomalies in locations consistent with the interpretation of up-ice transport direction and distance from the boulder field is regarded as particularly encouraging.
FINDING THE SOURCE - 3D MODELING & DRILLING
Yukon believes the potential source area of the Mistamisk Boulder Field has now been identified and the paucity of outcrop in the area of the water anomaly suggests that any mineral occurrence is concealed. Yukon also believes that further investigation of the Quaternary geology in three dimensions in conjunction with a winter drill program will be necessary to isolate the exact location of the Mistamisk Boulder Field source.
SECOND PHASE EXPLORATION PROGRAM SUMMARY
This program consisted mainly of line-cutting, radiometric and magnetometer surveys with additional prospecting and geological reconnaissance. The exploration program was designed and implemented by GeoVector Management Inc. (GeoVector), of Ottawa, Ontario.
A total of 98.4 km of line were cut on five separate grids, including the key Royal Montreal Target, located south of Mistamisk Lake, the Crowbush target located on a major east-west structure, and three grids on the St George's target located on the eastern margin of the horst (Osprey, Le Geant and Redtail). Approximately 90 km of radiometric and 80 km of magnetic surveying were conducted on the cut lines. A large radiometric anomaly was defined over the Royal Montreal target and radiometric anomalies were also defined on the Osprey and Redtail grids, over known uranium showings. Induced polarization surveys will be conducted on selected grids in the winter, as well as on new grids in areas that were water covered during the summer exploration programs.

Yukon Resources Completes a NI43-101F1 Report on its Recently Acquired Sagar Property Located in Quebec which it Holds in a Joint Venture with Virginia Mines-Report is Posted on Company Website
Yukon Resources Corp. (OTCBB:YUKR)(FWB:YE5) -
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 21, 2006) -
Hadyn Butler, P. Geo and Craig Scherba, P.Geo., both of whom are considered independent qualified persons have completed the NI43-101F1 report on the Sagar Property located in northern Quebec. Canadian National Instrument 43-101 provides strict standards of disclosure for company mineral projects and was also authored to ensure compliance with Securities Exchange Commission regulations for the distribution of such documents. A NI43-101F1 report is written by qualified persons and details the technical features of a Toronto Stock Exchange approved property of merit. (see Press Release dated June 2, 2006).
Yukon Resources will be utilizing the NI43-101F1 report as part of its application and requirement for obtaining a listing on the Toronto Venture Exchange. This will facilitate the ability to utilize flow-through financings/funds on the Corporation's Canadian properties.
Yukon Resources Posts Comprehensive Report on Website
The Sagar Property NI43-101F1 report is now posted on the Corporation's website (http://www.yukr.com). We encourage all interested stakeholders to review this comprehensive document on the highly prospective Sagar Property.
The Sagar Property
The property occurs in the northwest-trending Romanet Horst on the west side of the Labrador Trough. The significant mineral potential of this geological setting is well demonstrated by the abundance and diversity of uranium-gold showings discovered to date, which range from veins to breccias to shear zones. There is also locally significant sedimentary-hosted copper mineralization.
Sagar Property - Summer 2006 Exploration Program
A total of 8 targets were selected for evaluation based on historical data. The program's main objectives were to complete the process of project familiarization, to obtain a property wide layer of geochemical information, and to evaluate and prioritize the existing targets, in order to intelligently recommend further work (geophysics/drilling). The work program consists of five main elements: i) ongoing upgrading of the GIS database; ii) improve camp infrastructure and logistics; iii) complete a detailed water geochemical survey; iv) Quaternary (glacial) investigations; and v) prospecting/reconnaissance geology. The program involved and required a total of 7 Geologists working on the Property during this initial phase.
The summer exploration program was completed on August 18, 2006 while meeting all of the above noted objectives. In addition to verifying the historical information on the existing targets, a number of new occurrences were also discovered. A host of samples were collected which will be sent to laboratories for analysis.
Sagar Property - Fall 2006 Exploration Program
Based on the work completed during the summer program, GeoVector Management, Yukon's consulting geologists, have recommended that a geophysical program be conducted in September 2006. This would include line cutting as well as radiometric, IP/ resistivity and magnetometer surveys. Given the number of targets identified and the size of the land area, which would have to be surveyed, it is not possible to cover all the targets within the limited work window available to us in September due to the onset of winter.
Consequently, Yukon in conjunction with GeoVector will select priority targets based on current information gained from the summer program. Ground geophysics will then be conducted on those selected targets and the resulting survey data in conjunction with the summer program test results will form the basis for selecting drill targets.
Proceeding with the fall geophysical program will enable Yukon to conduct a drill program in Spring 2007.
