Samex
By Adrian Douglas
Bill,
SAMEX made a press release after the close of the market on December 11.http://biz.yahoo.com/ccn/071211/200712110431005001.html?.v=1
This is very heavy on geological jargon and is probably difficult for the average investor to digest or understand. I thought it might be worthwhile to make a few comments that try to put in layman terms what this means. I would point out that this is my own interpretation of the news release.
The PR has described what they have encountered from their drilling program and describes some of the geological findings from visual inspection of the cores as assays from the labs are not yet available.
We would obviously have liked to have seen extensive mineralization in all holes but this was not the case but having said that there is a lot of positive and encouraging results from the drilling campaign. There are a few stand-out highlights:
1)
QUOTE
The prospective area of the Delirio-Tucumana complex is quite large measuring in excess of 1000 meters long by 150 to well over 200 meters across and remains open ended in a northeast direction. This very large target area has been little tested by our initial drilling efforts, which show that there is good potential for widespread copper sulfide mineralization at depth. Drilling results show that the intensity of alteration and copper mineralization may be improving toward the northeast and also at depth in that direction. Certainly the mineralization/alteration events become more complicated as only one event seems to be present in the western Delirio area while multiple events are apparent at deeper levels and to the east-northeast. A porphyry source for the second event (2) has not yet been encountered by drilling. Consideration is being given to re-entering and deepening DDH-D-L1-01 at Delirio, which continuously drilled breccia with erratic copper sulfide mineralization from 130 meters to a depth of +400 meters.
END
This suggests quite a large rock volume is indicated to have good mineralization from the drill results and it is open both at depth and in the North-east direction. There is also an indication that the mineralization is improving in that direction (i.e. an expectation that grades will improve to the NE and at depth). The initial geological interpretation in the absence of detailed assays is that there were two separate mineralizing geological events. The suggestion that mineralization intensity is getting better as one goes Northeast is supportive of a porphyry source in that direction which mineralized toward the south-west but this suspected porphyry source was not encountered with this phase of drilling.
When assays are available to quantify the mineralization this target may well turn out to be quite interesting.
I advise looking at the Geophysical survey map at http://www.samex.com/Coreshack/Chile/INCA/INCA-index.html
2)
QUOTE
San Antonio-Providencia - While drilling along the San Antonio to Providencia vein trend and proximal areas (7 holes), a new mineralized breccia body was discovered. Two drill holes recently completed a test of the vein system positioned roughly midway between the San Antonio and Providencia mines. This intact segment has a surface dimension of +400-meter strike length and +150-meter width; and the vein system is quite strong with several small tourmaline-quartz breccia bodies. One of the drill holes passed beneath the vein system, through a significant fault zone, and unexpectedly encountered 130 meters of mineralized (strong oxide-copper, locally some covellite, deeper erratic amounts of chalcopyrite-bornite-molybdenite) breccia. There is hardly a IP geophysical hint of this breccia body; perhaps, because of the deep oxidation to 200 m. depth. Outcrop of capping rock, though, is laced by oxide-copper mineralized veinlets with sericite alteration halos; a small tourmaline-quartz breccia body is also exposed.
END
This is very significant because this is a large intercept of 130 meters that is heavily mineralized with copper-oxide and it doesn’t show up on the IP survey! Not only is this target of further interest but it opens up the possibility of other potential "IP invisible" targets that are not creating an IP anomaly for some reason. Obviously it needs to be investigated further why it wasn’t indicated on the IP but it is a very welcome "surprise".
3)
QUOTE
Magallanes - At Magallanes two holes disclosed a pervasively sericite-altered breccia with moderate amounts of chalcopyrite and molybdenite mineralization. The two drill holes revealed a breccia body that is 60 meters wide in a north-south direction and remains open ended an unknown distance to the west and at least sixty meters to the east.
END
While only two holes were drilled a 60 meter width body has been identified which could have significant lateral extension. Assay results will be needed to know what "moderate" mineralization means.
4)
QUOTE
Delirio-Tucumana Breccia Complex - At the Delirio breccia complex, eight holes were drilled, ranging from 200 to 400 meters in length over two section lines spaced two hundred meters apart. On the western part, near the Delirio mine open-cut workings, the series of holes show that the breccia body to be erratically copper mineralized, with a near-vertical orientation; a width that very gradually diminishes from 170 to 130 meters wide over the 400-meter depth extent so far tested. The upper 130 meter-thickness of the breccia body contains interesting amounts of oxide-copper mineralization. Below the oxide zone, moderate amounts of chalcopyrite and minor molybdenite occur with potassic alteration. The abundance of sulfide mineralization appeared to wane to trace amounts below a depth of 370 meters, only for occurrences of coarse chalcopyrite to begin to re-appear in the last few meters of DDH-D-L1-01.
END
This comment has many points to note. First of all there are "interesting" amounts of copper oxide from surface to 130 meters. Then there is an abundance of "copper sulfide" from 130 meters to 370 meters that means 140 meters. The mineralization over the next 30 meters almost vanishes but then the last few meters show chalcopyrite (copper sulfide) again in hole DDH-D-L1-01 but they didn’t drill any further because the holes was planned to be 400 meters deep. What a shame! Even so the mineralization in this area seems to be extensive but we will need to have assays to know how interesting this is. The PR release talks of the data warranting a possible re-entry of the hole DDH-D-L1-01 to drill it deeper.
What comes out of this is that SAMEX have encountered significant mineralization in several areas. To determine how interesting this all is will need assay results which are being prepared in the core analysis lab. At this stage the results are encouraging. There are some negatives in that no mineralization was found between Manto-Cuba and San Pedro which is the area where mineralization was observed in a hole drilled by ENAMI in 1971. But only two holes were drilled and this does not preclude San Pedro and/or Manto Cuba having significant potential within their own breccia pipe systems which have been seen from old mine workings. The Jardinera area also didn’t have any mineralization in the two holes drilled. In addition there was only sparse mineralization seen in the Matilde-San Antonio area.
Overall the exploration has identified significant mineralization. Assay results will be needed to know what the importance of this really is, but at this stage it is encouraging.
The incoherence between the IP survey and drill results needs to be understood but the "surprise" discovery of a large mineralized body which is invisible to the IP survey certainly gives rise to new possibilities to investigate.
While this Phase 1 drilling hasn’t been as positive as many would have hoped for it certainly is encouraging and the assay results will clarify things much more. It should enable a much more focused Phase 2 to home in on the areas of further potential.
Cheers

GMX.TO: Übersicht über die wichtigsten Aktivitäten
A Personal Note from the President of Globex to Shareholders (zu finden auf der Homepage http://www.globexmining.com/)
...it is clear that Globex has sufficient cash and no debts. We have developed a revenue stream which should come into full force in 2008 while other potential revenue streams, mainly gold, are progressing toward possible production. We have increased our asset base. We are exploring for our own account. In other words, we are doing what we said we would do, creating shareholder value. Yes that value goes up and down with metal prices and the Canadian dollar but this is in the normal course of business. For shareholders who have the stamina and long term vision, we are working for you as well as ourselves. Those day traders or shorters who don't share our vision have used the present uncertain market conditions to hurt the Company and its shareholders. There is little we can do to stop that other than try to get the story out and explain the exceptional value in Globex which we are unlocking over time....

Artikel von Boris Sobolev
...In the past several months, valuation levels for large and mid-size producers have increased. On the contrary, junior exploration and development companies have actually gotten cheaper in this time period. The valuation gap between producers and junior exploration companies is the widest it has been in years. Capital-rich but resource-hungry producers will not miss this opportunity....A takeover frenzy is coming and it will push exploration and development stocks much higher...
