    Sterling Mining’s Low Profile May Be About To Change by Rob Davies


    Stock markets like mining companies with metal in the ground. They like them even more when they start digging the metal up and selling it. So you would think that a company with 261 million ounces of silver resource to its name in a first world country that expects to start production this year would be a stock market darling. Ray De Motte, President of Sterling Mining, acknowledges that trading on the US bulletin board doesn’t give his shares a high profile and that his company is not widely followed. That said, data on the company is now available on the SEDAR website used by Canadian companies and it looks like the company is gradually raising its profile. In the eight months since Minews last looked at the company its market capitalisation has increased from US$77million to US$123million and it has only raised US$10million in that period, so it is doing something right.


    And it has been doing a lot. Sterling has a five year lease on the Sunshine Mine in the Silver Valley of Idaho. A location that Ray points out has produced more silver, 1.2 billion ounces, than any other district in the world. The Sunshine Mine itself accounted for 369 million of those ounces and the report from Behre Dolbear filed on SEDAR identifies a further 23 million ounces in reserves and 231 million in inferred resource. That estimate is based on historical data going back to the start of the mine in 1903 and includes over 5,000 diamond drill holes. Most of those ounces lie deep in the mine and will be accessed from the existing Jewell and Silver Summit Shafts that are being progressively opened up and allowing the mine to be de-watered.


    Over the last year the company has focussed its efforts on driving the 5,000 foot Sterling Tunnel across the top of the mine to access the Silver Summit tunnel. That vastly improves ventilation in the mine, provides another escape way and, most importantly, allows drill stations to be set up so that the higher levels can be explored. Ray emphasised that the resource figures from the Behre Dolbear study do not include any material from this area. However, he has two rigs there now going flat out on a 60,000 foot programme on which they are about one third of the way through.


    At the same time as the mine is being reopened the mill is being refurbished with a view to hitting the December 2007 start date for production. Now that the Jewell shaft, which will be the main production shaft, is up and running that target looks achievable. The payroll is up to 70 now and Ray is planning on adding five to ten people a month to bring the workforce up to the required level. Doing this, and buying mobile underground equipment, is going to cost about US$20million, Ray estimates. Once everything is in place he expects to produce 2.8 million ounces of silver in 2008, rising to 3.9 million in 2009 before settling down to a steady state of between four and five million ounces a year from then on. His objective is to get cash costs down to US$6 an ounce but in the shorter term he could live with US$8.5 an ounce. Either number gives a pretty good margin at today’s silver price of over US$13 an ounce.


    Sterling Mining has the option to purchase its lease on the Sunshine Mine for US$5million, but as the lease only costs US$120,000 a year it is not a priority. More important is to secure the additional funding to take the mine into production and that means raising its profile a little further. The fact that the company has started to file its documents on the SEDAR system, where Toronto listed stocks make data available, probably gives a strong clue about what steps it might take to list its shares on a better known exchange.

    Ich hatte am Rande der Edelmetallmesse die Gelegenheit mit SRLM zu sprechen.
    An den positiven Aussichten hat sich nichts geändert. Es sieht sehr gut aus! Interessant ist, dass erst 15% ihres Gebietes nach der neuesten Technologie exploriert wurden(!) Also wenn das kein Potential ist. Die Förderkosten sollen sich auf 7$ pro Unze Silber belaufen. Bis 8,50$ , also 1,50$ von den Gewinnen soll direkt für neue Explorationen abgeführt werden. Weitere Kapitalerhöhungen sind nicht mehr notwendig. Der Cashbestand von 13 Mio.$ ist absolut ausreichend. Möglicherweise können ab 2011 bis zu 10 Mio.Unzen gefördert werden, da z.B. eine neue Mühle kommen soll und der Schacht erweitert werden soll!!!


    Hier ein neues Update mit den aktuellen Zahlen! Ich rechne SRLM bei 7$ profitabel. Wie gesagt, 1,50$ davon solen sofort für die Exploration bereit stehen.

    Fazit: Am Potential für SRLM hat sich nichts geändert! Hervorragende Aussichten! Wenn man so etwas persönlich hört, dann fühlt man sich viel besser dabei, weil es Leute gibt, die oft Sachen falsch weiter geben ;)

    Dazu sollte man sehen, was mit SRLM passiert! Wie schnell das geht, sieht man heute bei Mines Management! Silver Wheaton kauft sich ein! Ähnliches würde mich bei SRLM nicht wundern...................eigentlich schon logisch, da SRLM weiter ist als MGN.
    Ich bleibe dabei dabei: MGN und SRLM gehören ins Depot!

    ...da aber mein Depot zu über 50% aus MGN und SRLM besteht werde ich nun die erhöhten MGN Kurse zur Diversifizierung des Depots nutzne - so eine Monokultur kann ganz schön übel sein - mit MGN bin ich insgesamt im Plus seit heute :)


    und dann wären da noch fast 25% Avino... :(

    Konzentrier Dich auf 5 bis 10 und gut. Streuen ist gut, aber man muß es auch noch überblicken können...............................

    Tatsache ist, dass heute das Handelsvolumen vergleichsweise riesig ist!


    Seht Euch das mal an!


    (Ist ja auch ein vorläufig recht sicheres Play, mit der anstehenden Produktion.)

    Das ist auf jeden Fall mit Abstand das höchste Tagesvolumen in der jüngeren Geschichte der Aktie seit Juni 2003!

    Nicht schlecht der Scherz, ich muss allerdings sagen, dass ich aufgrund der bisherigen Erfahrungen mit Schwankungen im Silver Valley Dir & Eldo widersprechen muss.


    Nicht darin, dass das Rekordvolumen keine Shortsqueeze hervorgerufen hat, sondern darin, dass Sterling kein guter Kauf wäre.


    Viel Spass mit den doppelten Verneinungen. 8)

    Mein Anlagehorizont geht - wie öfter schon geäussert - bis mindestens 2013, bis 2020 eventuell sogar ..., insofern ... .


    Bei SRLM liegt er zwar - wegen des Cashburns - nicht ganz so weit in der Zukunft, aber doch auch eine ganze Weile . ...

    Und, zur Unterhaltung nochmal den aktuellen Stand unten im Chart, seit dem Moriarty Bashing der Sterling Mining Ende Januar diesen Jahres.
    Bob Moriarty hatte damals auf seiner Seite 321 Gold Strategic Nevada Resources (TSX-V: SNS) empfohlen und Sterling Mining als Investment runtergemacht und schlecht geredet.


    Wie man sieht, behielt er damit gegenüber dem durch den Markt kreierten Kursverlauf bis zum heutigen Tag Unrecht.
    Eldo war damals - wie heute offenbar auch noch (s.o.) - ebenfalls dieser Meinung, er hat damals - auf dem Tiefpunkt des Kurses - schon lieber auf Sterling geschimpft, anstatt zu kaufen (siehe dazu auch Diskussionen im Silver Valley Idaho Thread von damals). ...


    Es soll sich also jeder SELBST ein Bild davon machen, was am Ende stimmt (ein Update des Vergleiches erfolgt weiterhin in unregelmässigen Abständen)! :D

    U.S. Silver Corp. (USA.V / CA:USA) - der grosse Nachbar der Sterling Mining Sunshine Mine Area - in Richtung der Vererzungen nach Osten - hat Zahlen vorgelegt & überrascht mit einem Abbaupreis von unter 13 US$ pro Unze Silber im Central Silver Valley Idaho im 3. Quartal 2007.


    Habe das im zugehörigen Thread (Link oben) kurz andiskutiert.
    Ob diese Zahlen für den kompletten Abbauprozess gelten können, muss man wohl aktuell noch offen lassen, da auch Halden mit Erz vorliegen ... ob da die Kosten also insgesamt angegeben wurden ist mir noch nicht 100%ig klar.
    Dennoch, endlich mal aktuelle Zahlen zu den KOSTEN im Valley!! =)
