    60 Jahre jung, mit erstklassigen Referenzen in so bedeutenden Goldbergbau-Gesellschaften wie Altron (Telekommunikation/Multimedia) und
    der Verpackungsfirma Nampak.


    Und MWW bleibt im Board und zieht weiter seine verhängnisvollen Strippen. :(


    Der armen Droopy bleibt auch nichts erspart, das unfähige Management verteilt untereinander nur die Posten neu, damit keine wirkliche Änderung stattfinden kann.

    Habe soeben von erneuten Käufen Droopys Abstand genommen - mögen andere die winkenden 30-Prozenter innerhalb weniger Tage erhaschen :D .

    South Africa: Sayers Appointment Lifts Spirits At Ailing DRDGold

    SOUTH African and Australasian gold producer DRDGold's shares reacted positively to the announcement yesterday that it had appointed a chartered accountant to head the company, which could signal a new direction for the future.


    The shares traded almost unchanged between 646c and 650c in morning trade from a previous close of 650c, but this was a good signal because they usually closely track the gold price, which had fallen almost 2% to $625/oz and more than 2% to R141 706/kg by midday.



    DRDGold's shares have lagged other gold producers in the past two years because of operational problems. Last year it liquidated its North West operations in SA after the mines, which were already making losses, were hit by a major seismic event.


    This year it has battled to turn around its Fijian mine, Vatukoula, and recently announced it had put the operations on care and maintenance. The group has not paid a dividend for several years. The group said chief financial officer John Sayers (pictured) had been appointed CEO to succeed Mark Wellesley-Wood from January 1.


    Wellesley-Wood will become chairman of DRDGold SA, the group's South African division housing Blyvoor, Crown and ERPM.


    DRDGold SA's black empowerment partners, Khumo Bathong Holdings, who nominated Wellesley-Wood for chairman, have increased their stake in DRDGold SA to 20% from 15%. Another 6% of DRDGold SA will be put into an employees' trust.


    This will bring DRDGold SA's black empowerment holding up to the 26% required by the Mining Charter by 2014.


    Sayers joined DRDGold SA in September last year. He holds a BSc (Honours) in Econometrics and Statistics and has qualified as a chartered accountant in SA and the UK.


    Before joining DRDGold, he was financial director of Nampak for eight years and previously held the post of financial director of Altron for seven years.



    Although Sayers is neither a geologist, like DRDGold chairman Geoffrey Campbell, nor a mining engineer like Wellesley-Wood, Wellesley-Wood said earlier this year, when he announced his contract at DRDGold had not been renewed, that the role of CEO had changed fundamentally.


    Since the restructuring of DRDGold into a South African and an Australasian division, each with its own operational management, the CEO would need to focus more on issues such as governance, strategy and culture, he suggested.


    Sayers said from Brisbane yesterday that DRDGold had a number of very distinct assets, with good management at the mining level in SA and Australasia, and the company needed to look at those assets. "We have to be objective about the portfolio we carry and look at our capital allocation."

    Was sagt eingentlich M.Siegel in seinem Blättchen aktuell zu Durban Roodeport? Früher (vor ein paar Jahren) war er von den grossen Reserven von DROOY (70 bis 100 Jahre Minenleben) beeindruckt.


    Aber ein wirklicher Akt geistiger Umnachtung war der unsägliche Artikel von Hamilton 'Roodeport Rocket', in Gold Eagle, wenn ich's recht erinnere. *)

    Ich sage schon mal vorraus das der Rand sich innerhalb sechs Monaten zwischen 10-11 Rand zum Euro bewegen wird und ca. 8 - 8.50 Rand zum USD
    Die Traumzahl 7 zu 1 haelt sich nicht mehr lange.
    IMO, Drooy und die anderen Suedaffen steigen erst richtig an wenn der Rand faellt, vorher springt die Masse nicht auf.
    So ab R 7.35 wird es interessant werden, vorher passiert nicht viel.


    Ich bin ja gespannt ob die Roodepoort Rakete zündet. :D
    Vielleicht ist das nur mehr eine Knallerbse seit dem Bericht von Hamilton.

    Stimmt es, dass DROOY aus der NASDAQ kommen kann, da es unter 1,00 USD nach einer bestimmten Zeit ist ?

    Ich habe 6000 Drooy am Euronext Brussel gekauft
    Entweder geht Drooy zu zero oder zu 5 euro und Sie koennen immer nog auf Euronext verkaufen

    Das Problem ist nun dass wenn DROOY aus der NASDAQ rauskommt, so wird DROOY hierfür penalisiert und noch niedriger werden...


    Das auf der Euronext verkaufen, verstehe ich leider nicht...in meiner online Bank kann ich die NASDAQ-Titel nur auf der NASDAQ verkaufen. DROOY hat ja mit der Euronext nichts zu tuen...
