Simmer&Jack scheinen mit Buffels gut voranzukommen:

Simmers started underground operations at the start of November and plans to ramp gold production from the underground and surface operations to 580 kg a month.

“We are looking to get to maximum production of 580kg by mid-2006. We are halfway there now in terms of our current production profile,” Miller said.

The gold price is also giving the company a much-needed leg up. It planned the mine at around R85,000/kg. The gold price is now at R105,000. Miller has said cash costs will be around R79,000/kg.

The higher gold price brings more resource ounces into reserves. In the current mine plan Simmers will mine 2.3 million ounces out of a resource of 12 million ounces. Many of those ounces are marginal and will come into play with the higher prices.

“It’s looking very exciting, I must say. If the gold price stays where it is, which is a big question, we are certainly in for a very good year,” he said.

Wenn selbst die alten Northwest-Minen wieder profitabel werden, sollte Droopy mit den restlichen SA-Minen um so bessere Gewinne machen.

    So was wie Tamboks Hexeneinmaleins.

The cool response from Peter Harold, chief executive of Sally Malay, at the end of last week was simply to announce another record month of production from his mine. In November the contained nickel production hit 770 tonnes; record nickel, copper and cobalt recoveries of 87 per cent , 96 per cent and 91 per cent respectively were achieved for the month; and the project remains on track to produce more than 8,700 tonnes of contained nickel in 2005/06. Not bad.

CRU –gold price strength highlights our Strong Buy

The last week has seen the spot gold price continuing its
steady rise since June this year in both Euro and USD. The
spot price is currently at solid 5—year highs both in Euro and
USD. The future price has lately increased correspondingly,
with the 2010 future price now at USD 615/Oz. vs. 600 a
week ago. Investors obviously find gold a safe haven in a
world of rising inflation risks and geopolitical turmoil. The
last week has also seen some M&A activity, with Gold Fields
acquiring Bolivar Gold; another consolidating move in the
sector. The merger between Crew and Guinor proceeds
according to plan, and the company will see a solid
production and profitability increase as its 2 major assets
gets up to normalized production over the coming 2 years.
Our 2007 base case EPS is NOK 1.85, mark to market this
would increase 27% to NOK 2.34 when applying the actual
2007 future price. We see the current gold price strength as
a good opportunity to highlight our Strong Buy on Crew.

Stars Are All Aligning For Desert Sun Mining

    By Our Canadian Correspondent

The irrepressible Stan Bharti must have a smile on his face these days because the price of gold is around US$500 per ounce and his Desert Sun Mining is starting to fire on all cylinders in Brazil.

Canadian and Amex listed Desert Sun owns 100 per cent of the Jacobina mine and the 155 kms long Bahia Gold Belt in northeastern Brazil. The mine re-started operations earlier this year after the refurbishment and re-commissioning of the existing plant to process 4,200 tonnes of ore/day with mill feed sourced from the Joao Belo, Basal Reef and Serra do Córrego mining areas. Joao Belo and Basal Reef were mined in a previous incarnation of the Jacobina mine when it was plagued by low gold prices and high costs, whereas the Serra do Córrego, which lies 2.5 kms from the plant, is a new planned mining area outlined by exploration.

Right off the bat proven and probable mineral reserves in the area stood at 17.62 million tonnes at 2.11 g/t gold representing 1.2 million ounces of gold. On the up side, Desert Sun's exploration efforts have also outlined measured and indicated resources of 24.8 million tonnes grading 2.53 g/t representing 2.05 million ounces of gold, plus inferred resources of 22.2 million tones grading 2.61 g/t for another 1.9 million ounces of gold. Not bad at all but if the past is any indication of the future keeping production costs at reasonable levels will be key. In other words, investors should be keeping a close eye the operation’s profitability.

So far the company is off to a good start with the third quarter marking Desert Sun’s first quarter of commercial production. And while not earth shaking, they are positive as revenues tallied C$9 million from the sale of 16,400 ounces of gold at an average selling price of US$442 per ounce. Gold production hit 18,683 ounces in the quarter at an average cash cost of US$292 per ounce and operating cash flow was in the black to the tune of C$566,000. The Jacobina Mine produced operating earnings for the three months of C$1.2 million, before general and administration costs and financial revenue and expenses. In the three months, the mill at Jacobina processed 300,505 tonnes with an average grade of 2.03 g/t gold with a recovery rate of 95.4 per cent.

The Jacobina Mine produced at 75 per cent of operating capacity during the quarter but more importantly, the company remains on track to hit its mandate of 100,000 ounces per year with operating costs expected to drop by up to US$70 per ounce as the mine ramps up production and the company’s currency protection programme kicks in against the strength of the Brazilian Real.

While Desert Sun’s overall bottom line is still in the red with a posted loss of C$503,000 in the quarter, this is a big improvement from the C$4.6 million loss in the three months ended June 30, 2005 and net loss of C$1.7 million, or 2 cents per share, in the three months ended March 31, 2005.

But production is not the only good news. On the exploration front, ramp development has encountered a new conglomerate reef dubbed the Foot Wall Reef some 40 metres in the footwall of the ore zone that is currently being mined. The development programme exposed the new reef over a continuous strike length of 180 metres with channel samples returning up to 4.25 g/t gold over 9 metres. Even better news came from an ongoing step-out drilling programme with one hole intersecting 5.2 g/t gold over 0.6 metre true width within a broader zone of low grade mineralization (0.58 g/t gold over an 8.3 metre true width). The FW reef is open along strike both to the north and south as well as down-dip.

A deep drilling program is also underway at the Joao Belo zone to test the potential down dip extension of the ore zone to a depth of 600 metres below the main haulage level and along strike to the south. A total of eight holes are planned with the first 4-5 holes expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, some 50 kms north of Jacobina, drill results from the Pindobacu target continue to deliver the goods with 23.63 g/t over 2.5 metres and 3.11 g/t gold over 8 metres. Based on drilling and detailed mapping at the Pindobacu, Entry Point and Fumaca targets the mineralized structure has now been traced over a strike length of 18 kms.

On the immediate growth front, negotiations are progressing to fund development of Morro do Vento, which lies only 0.5 km from the processing plant. The area would be the second production area at Jacobina and add an additional 50,000 ounces per year bringing overall production to 150,000 ounces per year by 2007. With total indicated resources of nearly 5.8 million tonnes grading 2.18 g/t gold, plus an inferred tally of nearly 2.5 million tones grading 2.42 g/t, the throughput of the processing plant will need to be expanded from 4,200 tonnes per day to 6,500 tonnes per day. Total capital costs are pegged at US$31.2 million but gold produced from capital development in ore gives back US$14 million making the total new capital requirements for the project US$17.2 million.

Overall, I think you can see that Desert Sun has a lot on the go and, with the price of bullion looking strong, Jacobina may finally be able to shed its ghosts of the past and turn into a real money maker. :)) Desert Sun Mining is banking on it and we will be watching.

Croesus (CRS) is an example of a company which should be doing much better, but just can’t get the recipe right. It has become a very high cost producer, has seen management stumble on a number of issues, and is now returning, cap in hand, for more cash, please sir. :D On Thursday it announced a raising of A$8.6 million to accelerate work on its Norseman mines, a step which knocked the stock down to A29 cents, a fall of only A2 cents on the week, but a mile below the A64 cents of 12-months ago when the gold price was US$50/oz lower. :D

Interview mit John Embry , mit Aktienempfehlungen
John Embry Talks About Gold and Gold Shares
    http://www.resourceinvestor.com/pebble.asp?relid=15084

DAVID DESLAURIERS: What are some of your favourite developers in the sector (defined for these purposes as feasibility stage or construction stage)?

JOHN EMBRY: There is a merger taking place between Westdome [TSXv:WDG] and River [TSX:RIV]. When these are combined this will be a stock, which I think people will take notice of. It is extremely inexpensive at this point.

New Gold [TSX:NGD; AMEX:NGD] has a robust copper-gold project in BC, which has sort of flown under everybody’s radar screen and the NAV is materially higher than the current stock price – I like it a lot.

Western Silver [TSX:WTC; AMEX:WTZ] just had a feasibility study done in Mexico on their massive low-grade, silver poly-metallic ore body. I particularly like silver, I love gold but I like silver even more, and I’m looking for well-levered, legitimate plays in silver. This is one at the development stage that I think has been overlooked.

One that has just currently become very topical is Atna Resources [TSX:ATN], they just pulled an amazing hole in Nevada. I own 10% of the company, and they just did a deal today in which we participated. I think David Watkins who runs the company is a first-class individual, and I think this a great project, and it is just getting into the development stage.

The last one that I particularly like is Viceroy Resources [TSX:VYE]. They are reaching that stage where they’ll be doing a feasibility, and it’s a big project, at least 3 million ounces, and its good quality open-pit stuff, probably heap-leachable, so I think that is a really attractive situation too.

DAVID DESLAURIERS: What are some of your favourite juniors?

JOHN EMBRY: One name that people don’t pay much attention to, they like spending other people’s money, and that’s Almaden Resources [TSX:AMM]. They have projects with Comaplex down in Mexico, and another interesting one with Strongbow in BC, and they are a magnificent group of people, and they have a lot on the go, and big potential.

I like Intrepid Minerals [TSX:IAU] run by Laurence Curtis who is an excellent guy, and they actually have a resource on a property in Argentina, but he is more of an exploration company, and I think Intrepid is severely undervalued.

I think Rubicon [TSX:RMX; AMEX:RBY] which has got a major exploration effort at Red Lake, but perhaps even more interesting, they have a piece of a company called Africo in the Congo, which will be coming public in the next couple of months, and I think that will highlight the fact that Rubicon is significantly undervalued.

And a company that is currently doing a financing, Axmin [TSX:AXM] is progressing towards feasibility stage, it has a large resource in the Central African Republic, which is an area that I think is becoming more respectable. I think this one is severely undervalued, and has great sponsorship, so I think Axmin is a particularly good play here.
