Crime: Residents to court ?

Pretoria residents were considering taking legal action against the ANC led metro council following high crime incidents in their neighbourhoods, the Freedom Front Plus said on Saturday.

"Pretoria residents are languishing under the crime wave while the ANC forbids them to secure their neighbourhoods by fencing off their residential areas, spokesperson councillor Conrad Beyers said.

He said numerous criminal incidents, including murders could have been prevented had the ANC not implemented a ban on street closures and erection of fences around neighbourhoods in 2002.

"Statistics held by residents and security companies show that crime decreases dramatically when a residential area is fenced off.

"With this moratorium, criminals have easy access to neighbourhoods... hence the high incidents of murders."

Conrad said the party demanded that the "moratorium be lifted with immediate effect".

"If it is not lifted immediately, the time for legal action against the metro has arrived... with residents, both black and white claiming their constitutional rights to safety and security."

Tshwane mayor Gwen Ramokgopa's office was not immediately available for comment.

Also mich wundert nichts mehr warum es hier kein Recht und Ordning mehr gibt. Robert McBride, ein weisser der als Terrorist fuer den ANC einige Bomben gelegt hat und Zivilisten getoetet hat ist der Polizei Chef.
Da sind noch andere Terroristen/Widerstandskaempfer des ANC die sitzen im Parlament, die meisten sind vorbestraft wegen anderer Delikte.
Man kann sich streiten wer ist ein Freiheitskaempfer und wer ist ein Terrorist, egal hier etwas ueber McBride.

McBride on annual leave

Controversial Ekurhuleni metro police chief Robert McBride is on annual leave and will be back at work next Monday, his office has confirmed.

This, after reports that he was on sick leave and was scheduled to return to his office on Monday.

At the weekend, Democratic Alliance safety and security spokesperson Dianne Kohler-Barnard told The Star: "McBride should under no circumstances be allowed to return to work until the investigation into his alleged drunken-driving accident last month has been completed.

"There are still several unanswered questions surrounding the accident in December where, reportedly, McBride was driving under the influence of alcohol when he rolled his official vehicle," Kohler-Barnard said.

McBride, who rolled his car last month near Centurion, faces the minor charge of reckless driving.

However, witnesses described him as having been "blind drunk" at the scene of the accident.

The Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) is investigating charges of defeating the ends of justice after claims of a cover-up in the car crash investigation.

It is also investigating witnesses' claims that metro police intimidated and assaulted them on the scene.

The ICD has said Mc Bride was not asked to provide a blood sample, which was required by law.

At the time, Ekurhuleni metro police denied all the allegations.

Thieves steal four bodies

Lebowakgomo - A man was shocked when he went to a cemetery on Friday and found four empty graves.

The bodies are believed to have been stolen from the cemetery at Thabamoopo Psychiatric Hospital in Limpopo, said captain Mamphaswa Seabi of Capricorn area police on Monday.

"The man had gone to visit a relative's grave and found that four neighbouring graves were open, with nothing inside," he said.

"He knew people had been buried there, so he raised the alarm."

He said it was a "sick society" that desecrated graves.

"We are living in a sick society, where everything that can be moved gets stolen," he said.

He said police were tracking down the families who had buried relatives in the graves.

Es ist super Politiker oder Polizeichef zu sein, aber in der Schweiz habt ihr keine Bombenleger in den Positionen, das ist der Unterschied.
Keine Ahnung was die Firmen hier machen, ich kriege nur wenig mit.
Wie viele Firmen oder Leute das Land verlassen weiss ich nicht.
Die besten sind schon lange weg, viele sitzen in der Falle und kommen nie weg. Die letzten weissen werden langsam die Neger und stehen hinten denen an. Fuer mich ist das ganze hoffnungslos und sehe keine Verbesserung. Aber das ist nur meine Meinung, andere sehen das anders.
Viele glauben an den Traum der Fussball WM und bauen wie die Weltmeister Hotels und Appartments, die meisten Wohnungen stehen leer weil alles zu teuer wurde und zu viele verschuldet sind.
Meistens sind das Gelder die nicht raus koennen oder Geldwaescherei.
Ich frage mich wo das Geld ueberhaupt herkommt, vielleicht gibt es hier auch eine Gelddruckmaschine wie bei den Amis.
Einge sagen der Todesstoss fuer die Weissen kommt spaetesten nach der FWM 2010, ich hoffe ich kann meine assets noch vorher an einen Optimisten verkaufen der an die Rainbow Nation glaubt und nie ein Opfer durch die Kriminalitaet wurde, bis jetzt.
Da gibt es viele Auslaender die sehen das Land als Paradise, schauen nur auf den schoenen Tafelberg aber nicht hinter die Kulisse.
Der Rand soll von mir aus in den Keller gehen, mich interessiert hauptsaechlich das ich hier noch einigermassen heil rauszukommen und meine assets verkaufen kann..
An die Wirtschaftdaten die sie uns geben und Crime Statistiken glaube ich auch nicht, ich sehe Inflation beim Einkaufen und mehr und mehr Verbrechen im Gegensatz zu unseren Presidenten der wie eine Made im Speck sicher lebt und locker vom Hocker redet damit die letzten Weissen nicht abhauen und auslaendisches Geld ins Land kommt das sich spaeter seine Waehler unten den Nagel reissen wenn du mich fragst.

Crime not out of hand

President Thabo Mbeki says crime is not getting out of hand.

And most South Africans would agree with him, said Mbeki in an interview flighted by SABC television on Monday.

He admitted that crime and the damage it was causing to South Africa's image internationally was something of a concern.

Mbeki added, however, that it was wrong to suggest crime in the country was uncontrollable.

"There is crime, but this does not mean it is out of control," he said.

He blamed certain South Africans for not being "careful" on how they communicated the issue of crime.

The president said it was the way they communicated that created the perception crime was out of control in the country.

Arms deal

Asked about recent reports implicating a number of South Africans in a British police probe on corruption between British arms companies and foreign government officials, Mbeki said the British government had not yet spoken to him about the matter.

The names mentioned included that of former defence minister Joe Modise.

Mbeki said South Africa's arms deal bidding process was "perfectly correct" and not affected by any corruption.

Economy

He was asked why, despite the current economic boom, the ANC-led government was still struggling to meet the needs of many South Africans.

Mbeki cited the country's weak infrastructure, which he said could not keep up with the rate of economic growth, as one of the major reasons.

He said the rate of economic growth had been underestimated.

"For example, electricity supply did not keep up with the demand.

"We thought we had spare capacity, but now we have a shortage and we must address that."

Mbeki said government would have to invest more money in roads, ports, railways and electricity supply in the country to keep up with economic growth.

"It is a problem, but it is a good problem," he said.

He said government would also encourage the private sector to become involved.

Local government

Mbeki said there was also a problem at local government level to make capital investment in infrastructure.

"We can have good national strategies and plans and even the money, but if local government doesn't implement these, it doesn't work."

He said government had a plan to deal with this.

"That is why people are being called out of retirement and why we are also looking elsewhere to see where we can borrow people with the necessary expertise to implement government's plans and strategies."

Personal wealth

He also mentioned a culture of personal wealth accumulation amongst South Africans as something that had to be fought.

Due to the "evolution" of South Africa into a democratic society, a value system based on material things being a measure of a person's success had become entrenched, Mbeki said.

"This is not a new thing... this has been around for a long time."

Mbeki said people must rediscover the principle of Ubuntu.

"We must rediscover what this value system means.

"You can't say you practice Ubuntu, but then you steal your grandmother's pension money."

what the fcuk is "ubuntu"? Mbeki ist genau wie die ganzen anderen schwarzen Politiker - er hat 2 Gesichter:

Ich gehen davon aus, das Immobilienpreise eher fallen werden als steigen, WM hin oder her. Die Blase am Immomarkt in Südafrika ist gewaltig und mit den neuen "restrictions on foreign land ownership" auch immer weniger interessant für internationale Investoren / Käufer.

Eldo ist froh sollte er nicht zu einem etwas längerem Aufenthalt genötigt werden.

SA lands R8.4bn loan

The European Investment Bank, the development bank of the European Union, will lend South Africa €900m (R8.4bn at the current exchange rate) for public infrastructure projects and to support private sector investment over the next seven years.

"The use of the €900m will be focused on infrastructure projects of public interest - power, water supply, sewerage and communications - and support for private sector investment, with substantial development values including small- and medium-scale investments," the EIB said in a statement.

The EIB also said it would grant power utility Eskom a loan of up to €300m (R2.8bn) to help it improve power transmission lines from the power stations in the north of the country to the Western Cape province, which has suffered chronic electricity outages.

Under past agreements, the bank has loaned South Africa €1.5bn for investments in the country of which all the funds are now committed.

The new loan agreement with South Africa would cover the period 2007 to 2013.

The EIB uses its top-notch credit ratings to borrow funds on capital markets at lowest rates and best terms which is then passed on to recipients on a cost-recovery basis.

The loan to Eskom will be repayable over 25 years.

The crime situation really is bad, and President Thabo Mbeki is out of touch with reality if he thinks it is not out of control," say experts, roleplayers and victims.

They were reacting on Tuesday to Mbeki's statement during a TV interview that it was just a perception that crime was out of control.

Mbeki told TV interviewer Tim Modise that most South Africans would agree with him.

"It's not as if someone will walk here to the TV studio in Auckland Park and get shot," said Mbeki.

"That doesn't happen and it won't happen.

Mbeki said: "Nobody can prove that the majority of the country's 40 million to 50 million citizens think that crime is spinning out of control."

20 murders in greater Brixton (Johannesburg)

Hisham Bhamjee, chairperson of the Brixton community policing forum, comprising Auckland Park, Melville, Rossmore, Mayfair and Crosby, said he advised the area's 55 000 residents to be on the alert and to take precautions.

"Personally, I would not walk along Kingsway or Henley road (which flank the SABC building in Auckland Park) at night," said Bhamjee.

Crime statistics for the greater Brixton area for 2005-2006 show that 20 people were murdered, 527 armed robberies with aggravated circumstances were committed, and there were about 680 assaults.

Former Springbok wing Gerrie Germishuys, who was recently attacked at his home in Northcliff, Johannesburg, said: "If the government's armed bodyguards were taken away from them, they would realise how unsafe the country has become."

Dr Johan Burger, a senior researcher at the Institute for Security Studies said Mbeki's statement showed that he was out of touch with the experiences of ordinary people.

In 1998, 25% of respondents said in a poll that they did not feel safe going out after dark in their own areas.

"In a similar poll in 2004, that figure had jumped to 58% of people who felt unsafe," said Burger.

'One should not be duped'

He said there were some positive indicators that crime was levelling off, but it had to be appreciated that this was from an extremely high level (of crime).

"If crime is not out of control, it is under control. And, it may be a bit early to say that.

"One should not be duped by positive tendencies, because it does not make one any safer," said Burger.

Robbers hold up Jhb school

Three armed men robbed Roodebeck Primary School in Roodepoort on Wednesday, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money, said Gauteng police.

Captain Joseph Magoai said the robbers threatened teachers in the office with a firearm and demanded cash.

They searched the office, found the school safe and emptied it before making their getaway, he said.

Am 16.Februar werde ich sehen ob die zwei-drei anderen mehrmals vorbestraften Einbrecher die sich um ihren Kameraden nicht kuemmerten mehr Gewicht im Gericht haben als ich und meine Freundin. Vielleicht holten sie nur ihren Fussball vom dritten Stock am Balkon um 4.30 morgens oder sich noch bedanken nachdem sie die Glasschiebetuer aushebeln wollten und in die Wohnung fast eingedrungen sind. Die haetten uns eher abgeschlachtet wie wo anders auch.

Ich will die ganze Sache vergessen und das Verfahren hinter mir bringen da diese Ungewissheit unangenehm ist.
Frueher haette man einen Orden bekommen, heute wo die Polizei und die meisten Richter schwarz sind gehts einen so wie damals einen Schwarzen in vielen Faellen.

Lasst uns was anderes reden, ich habe gelesen das Moody RSA ein gutes Credit~Rating gab und das eine Bank glaubt der Rand ist nur kurz schwach und wird wieder ansteigen gegen alle Waehrungen.
Ich verstehe das ganze nicht, fast schon Anarchie hier und die bewerten das Land und Rand so hervorragend. Warum auch nicht den Irak.

Was solls, es hilft auch nichts, die Gewalt und Verbrechen geht weiter das man mittlerweile schon Schulen ueberfallt und sich nun Sorgen um seine Kinder macht. Nicht mal dort wird fuer Sicherheit gesorgt.

Woman cop 'trigger happy'

Komatipoort - A woman police officer has been accused of opening fire on a car when the driver didn't show her his driver's licence.

The driver opened an attempted murder case at Komatipoort police station in Mpumalanga on Tuesday.

David Thobela, 42, from Hhoyi village told police he was driving from Komatipoort to Hhoyi with a friend last Friday when his car broke down on the Managa Road.

He said two police officers arrived and a woman officer asked to see his licence.

"As my hands were full of oil I told her to get the licence, which was attached to my car keys inside the car," he said.

She reportedly took offence and insisted that he do it himself.

Baby played in parents' blood

Hazyview - Killers who gunned down a couple in their home and left their toddler to fend for herself, are still at large.

Raymond Sibiya, 30, and Nonhlanhla Mnisi, 26, were found naked with several gunshot wounds to their bodies in their house in Mkhuhlu near Hazyview on Tuesday.

Their 18-month-old daughter was playing next to them, smearing the floor with their blood.

Superintendent Moatshe Ngoepe of Mopani police said on Wednesday: "Whoever did this was heartless."

"To kill the parents of a small child, then close the door and walk away, leaving the child with her dead parents, is alien to our tradition."

Neighbours heard gunshots

He said police still had no clue to the motive for the attack and had no suspects yet.

He said neighbours heard gunshots on Sunday night, but thought nothing of it.

"Neighbours said they heard gunshots, but, because many people in that area randomly fired their guns at night, they thought nothing of it," he said.

That was until Tuesday morning when a friend of the couple went to visit them.

When she knocked and got no response, she broke open the window and saw the bodies and the child, said Ngoepe.

Das Lottospiel faengt erst bei dem Besuch an, in einer Reisgruppe sollest du besser weg sein als alleine durch die Gegend.
