According to RUSAL’s Director General – Alexander Boulighin – the smelter will build an aluminium works in the Australian state Queensland. According to preliminary estimations, energy expenditure promise no high figures, a total value of the project declared at $3 bln.
In parallel, the Russian aluminium giant is in discussions about boosting, by 1 million tons, alumina mining by QAL miner, 20% of which belongs to the Russian concern. The other shareholders of QAL - Alcan and Rio Tinto – has been reportedly involved in the negotiations, too.
