The Monkey and the Hippo
Said the monk to the hipp, as he swung in the breeze,
Hanging down by his tail from a vine in the trees,
"Old Hippo, my boy, don't you wish you were me
To roam the whole jungle so happy and free?
I flit all about with never a care.
I romp and I play as free as the air."
The hippo looked up and said with a grunt,
"That may be all right for you, little runt,
But imagine the strain it would place on your trees
If ever I tried to swing in the breeze."But although he answered with reason so witty,
He said to himself, "It's really a pity
That I have to stay down here on the ground
While that little snip is swinging around."So that night as he lay at ease in the ooze,
Taking his nightly and nocturnal snooze,
He dreamed of a tail like an elephant's trunk,
And thought he was playing around with the monk. His aerial antics caused quite a sensation
And upset the calm of the whole monkey nation.
The trees swayed and bent beneath his wild lurches,
And jarred all the birds right loose from their perches. But his wonderful tail was new to the job
And soon had an ache and a terrible throb;
The muscles relaxed and quit with a quiver,
And headlong he plunged down into the river.The splash could be heard ten miles and a half;
It wiped out a village and drowned a giraffe;
Flamingos and fishes were strewn far and wide,
And trees were laid flat by the force of the tide. And then he awoke with a start and a fright
But pleased and amazed that things were all right.
"I surely was acting the part of a donkey,"
Said he, "when I listened to that silly monkey.
A fall such as that would have broken my neck,
So I'll stay on the ground and like it, what the heck." !!

Hippo's Hope (Flooded Mines,Heap Leach, R/$ )
In deep water song:
And stuck in the mud ??There once was a hippo who wanted to fly --
Fly-hi-dee, try-hi-dee, my-hi-dee-ho.
So he sewed him some wings that could flap through the sky --
Sky-hi-dee, fly-hi-dee, why-hi-dee-go.
He climbed to the top of a mountain of snow --
Snow-hi-dee, slow-hi-dee, oh-hi-dee-hoo.
With the clouds high above and the sea down below --
Where-hi-dee, there-hi-dee, scare-hi-dee-boo.
(Happy ending) :))
And he flipped and he flapped and he bellowed so loud --
Now-hi-dee, loud-hi-dee, proud-hi-dee-poop.
And he sailed like an eagle, off into the clouds --
High-hi-dee, fly-hi-dee, bye-hi-dee-boop.![Freude :]](https://goldseiten-forum.com/wcf/images/smilies/pleased.gif)
(Unhappy ending)

And he leaped like a frog and he fell like a stone --
Stone-hi-dee, lone-hi-dee, own-hi-dee-flop.
And he crashed and he drowned and broke all his bones --
Bones-hi-dee, moans-hi-dee, groans-hi-dee-glop.

Editor: Silver StrategiesSilver is correcting again after a run to last year's high at $8.30. There seems to be a general consensus among silver gurus and commentators alike (David Morgan, Doug Casey, Jim Dines and others) that silver price has broken out of its 20 year downturn. Since silver equities typically outperform the metal, investor interest is slowly being drawn to silver mining stocks, which for variety of reasons aside from the rising price of the metal, present a unique investment opportunity.
We are at the dawn of a new era for silver ...(and other "things" vs. "paper")more.....at

May 4, 2005- Chuck Butler, president of the Everbank and author of the of the Daily Pfennig column, says, "Looking at the spreads in the forward market, one has to conclude something's going on." And I am here to tell you that no more scary words were ever spoken, as I have seen too, too many movies where the cowboys are sneaking up to take a look at the Indian encampment, and there they all were, decked out in war paint, dancing and whooping it up around their campfire with drums going "boomity boom boom." After watching for a few moments, one cowboy leans over and whispers to the other one, "Something's going on." Now, I am not sure if Mr. Butler is referring to Indians on the warpath coming to shoot and scalp us and we will have to somehow rescue the beautiful schoolmarm. But the lesson is clear.

AFFLUENZA
By Eric J. Fry
Warning: A virulent epidemic is sweeping the nation.

How many more victims the epidemic might claim is anyone's
guess. But suffice to say that the rapid spread of this
contagion is a serious national problem, which may produce
several dire consequences...like falling home prices, for
example.Although the disease manifests itself in a variety of ways,
it often produces behavior characterized by reckless
borrowing and insatiable consumption. The disease, known as
"affluenza," has infected millions of Americans already,
but has reached epidemic proportions among California
homeowners. The onset of symptoms is often accompanied by a sense of
euphoric invulnerability. Unfortunately, this delusional
rapture promotes additional high-risk behavior, which
usually worsens the infection. Many victims succumb to the
disease, but the condition is treatable. Early diagnosis
can promote a highly efficacious response. Curtailing high-
risk activities, for example, can reduce the infection and
– sometimes – restore the infected host to an asymptotic
state known as "solvency."But many folks – because they are oblivious to their
condition – continue borrowing and spending until the
disease reaches its final and most serious phase, also know
as "insolvency."We are not anticipating a widespread outbreak of
insolvency. More likely, the growing awareness of the risks
posed by affluenza will inspire a gradual return to low-
risk behavior, like saving money and re-paying debts.
Sadly, such practices, while healthy for the individual,
are highly toxic for the national economy and for the
country's over-inflated real estate markets. -

Ivanhoe Mines to commence drilling on the Tiger Hills gold and silver project, Inner Mongolia, China
Wednesday May 4, 8:30 am ET
BEIJING, China, May 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Ivanhoe Mines' Executive Vice President, Exploration, Douglas Kirwin announced today that the company has completed detailed geological mapping, rock-chip sampling and an Induced Polarization (IP) survey at the Tiger Hills epithermal gold and silver project in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China. A 2,500-metre diamond drilling program is scheduled to commence by mid-May.
The Tiger Hills Project is in the Hulunbeier District in northern Inner Mongolia, approximately 150 kilometres south of the city of Hailar. The area is easily accessed by vehicle and comprises sparsely populated low-relief undulating steppe terrain. Gold and silver mineralization was discovered by Ivanhoe geologists as part of an extensive prospecting campaign for epithermal deposits within the northeast-trending extensional Mesozoic volcanic belt which hosts the 8-million-ounce Baley gold deposit in southern Siberia. The region had previously been explored by the Chinese Geology Brigade 115. A soil survey showed the area to be anomalous in arsenic, antimony and mercury. There is no record of any previous gold mining in the district.Low-sulphidation epithermal gold mineralization occurs in hydrothermal eruption breccias which are exposed along silicified ridges which extend for two kilometres in a northwest direction. Mineralized host rocks are silicified rhyodacitic to andesitic lavas, tuffs and minor volcaniclastic debris flows which are associated with acid volcanic domes. The breccias are multi-clastic and have a cryptocrystalline to opaline silica matrix. Colloform banding, carbonate replacement textures and delicate crustiform layers of moss adularia are commonly observed. Rock-chip samples from the breccias returned assays up to 5.89 g/t gold and 11.4 g/t silver. A recently-completed geophysical survey shows that the mineralization is directly associated with a four-kilometre northwest-trending resistivity high.
"The very high level silica and breccia textures observed at Tiger Hills clearly demonstrate that the uppermost zone of a sizeable epithermal system has been recently exposed. The highly anomalous gold and silver values present in these types of rocks are highly encouraging," said Mr. Kirwin. "The mineralized breccias are similar to those mined at Borealis in Nevada and Wirralee in Queensland."
Ivanhoe's initial drilling program will focus around three prominent silicified zones with hydrothermal eruption breccias outcropping over a distance of two kilometres.
Tiger Hills is within two exploration licenses owned by Yahao, an 80/20 joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (80%) and the Inner Mongolian Bureau of Geology (20%), which have a total area of 88 square kilometres. Yahao has a 30-year permanent business license and is the first fully-approved Sino-Foreign joint venture in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to receive both Beijing's Ministry of Land and Resources (MOLAR) authorization to transfer in exploration licenses and the Provincial Government's grant of a 30-year business license for those mineral projects developed from exploration and mining licenses held by the Yahao joint venture in China.
Ivanhoe also is commencing an exploration drilling program in mid-May at its Bronze Fox gold and copper project in southern Mongolia.
Douglas Kirwin, a qualified person as defined by NI 43-101, supervised the preparation of the information in this release. The rock-chip samples were assayed by McPhar Geoservices at its facility in Manila, Philippines.
Ivanhoe shares are listed on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges under the symbol IVN.

Erstmal Oil sichern, dann Gold !Fabrication, Reaction, Solution, Target is reached !

Ich kann nur mehr den Kopf schuetteln wie der Rand sich haelt und sogar staerker wird, es stinkt nach manipulation hoch 10.
Am Ende des Reports steht eine Globale Aussage die jeder machen kann:
Not only the good old days of the artificially pumped up Mr Universe, the Rand, are likely to be over sooner than later, but the above charts also suggest that crucial decisions are being made soon, in which direction the markets will trend to. Whereas some triangles will act as a “correction” pattern of the prevailing trend, some will show their explosiveness as “continuation” pattern soon. As it’s difficult to speculate which ones will “definitely” shoot up or down,
the only thing we can be sure of in the next years is that the Rand, along with its paper mates, will be found where they belong to - as being “paper”; or as François Voltaire puts it:“Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value …”: (NIL)

'US invasion of Iraq was a resource war'
By Melanie Gosling
Cape Town - With the rapid decline of global oil supplies, the United States is heading for an economic crash unlike anything since the 1930s.
And the collapse of the dollar will affect every nation on earth !!.
This is the chilling warning from academic Richard Heinberg of the New College of California. Heinberg is in Cape Town, South Africa, this week to share his views on what governments and societies need to do to mitigate the imminent global crisis after world oil production peaks.
"It's too late to maintain a 'business as usual' attitude. What is required is to manage the change that peak oil will bring in a way that causes the fewest casualties. This must be done at an economic and geopolitical level, to fend off resource wars. The US invasion of Iraq is clearly a resource war," Heinberg said on Monday.
Global oil discovery peaked in the 1960s and oil production is likely to peak as soon as 2007. With a world economy based on fossil fuel, the economic and social consequences will be dire.
'They say if they have 10 years to prepare, the economic and social chaos could be minimised'
In his most recent book, Power Down: options and actions for a post-carbon world, Heinberg describes the options available to avoid catastrophe.Wearing a T-shirt that read: "Wake up! You are here," with an arrow pointing to a graph of a peak in oil production, Heinberg said world governments were aware of the pending crisis. The United States department of energy had commissioned a report on the probable impacts of "peak oil", the point at which global oil production will no longer meet demand, which was released in February.
"The report was compiled mainly by ex-CIA people. The CIA has always kept a close watch on resources. They found that peak oil would provide the US and the world with an 'unprecedented risk and management problem'.
"They say if they have 10 years to prepare, the economic and social chaos could be minimised. But if it's less, the US will face a serious problem and the government will have to manage it without public input. For that, read martial law. The report found oil price volatility will increase to unprecedented levels," Heinberg said.
The US response is not to cut oil consumption by making major lifestyle changes, and scale back on economic activity, but to use the military to maintain control over oil in the Middle East.
"The long-range plan is for the West to control the Middle East by the military so it can control the price of oil."

This was formalised as far back as 1979 by former US president Jimmy Carter, in what became known as the Carter Doctrine, which stated that America would use the military to maintain access to the oil reserves in the Middle East.
Clearly we need to find substitutes for oil, says Heinberg, but the available energy alternatives are not reassuring.
Natural gas extraction will peak a few years after oil, extraction rates for coal will peak in decades, nuclear energy is dogged by unresolved problems of waste disposal and solar and wind energy will have to undergo rapid expansion if they are to replace even a fraction of the energy shortfall from oil. And the enthusiasm about a hydrogen economy comes from politics rather than science, he said.
"Our real problem is that we are trapped in a perpetual growth machine. As long as modern societies need economic growth to stave off collapse (given existing debt-and-interest-based national currencies), we will continue to require ever more resources yearly. But the Earth has limited resources.
"The energy conundrum is thus intimately tied to the fact that we anticipate perpetual growth within a finite system," Heinberg said.He sketches four main options available in response:
Following the US leadership in competing for remaining resources through wars;
Wishful thinking that the market or science will come to the rescue;
Assuming that we are already in the early stages of disintegration, devoting our energies to preserving the most worthwhile cultural achievements of the past few centuries.
"Powering down" - reducing energy resource use drastically through economic sacrifice, reducing the population size and developing alternative energy sources.
"The sooner we choose wisely, the better off we and our descendants will be," Heinberg said.... End.

Harmony 'faces further losses'

Harmony bid 'damaging to BEE'
GFI bid: Harmony will know soon
Gold Fields outshines Harmony
Harmony deep in the red
Harmony appoints Chissano
Johannesburg - International ratings agency Fitch Ratings has revised the rating watch on Harmony Gold Mining Company's (HAR) national ratings to evolving from positive.
Its national ratings are Long-term A- (A minus)(zaf)' and Short-term F2(zaf).Fitch said in a statement that the revision reflects a continuous deterioration of the financial profile of the company as demonstrated by the release of its results for the third quarter ended 31 March 2005.
The significant decline in earnings led to a loss of R55m at the cash operating level.
Rising costs and a relatively static rand-denominated gold price pushed cash operating costs to beyond the average gold price received in the quarter.
Harmony was put on Rating Watch Positive in October 2004 following its announcement that it was making an offer to rival Gold Fields (GFI) to acquire all of its shares.
"Although Fitch has previously highlighted the deterioration in Harmony's financial profile in rating action dated 17 August 2004, this would be mitigated by a successful acquisition of Gold Fields, which Fitch views as potentially credit-enhancing for Harmony," it said.
However, Fitch is concerned that should the proposed acquisition not be concluded swiftly, further losses by Harmony at the cash operating level are considered possible over the next two to three quarters.
"While Fitch is aware that Harmony has access to substantial liquid resources through its 11.5% holding of Gold Fields, it views a successful outcome to the acquisition as positive for Harmony's future prospects.
Gold Fields has a portfolio of high-margin, profitable mines, and enjoys a degree of geographical diversification with mines in South Africa, Ghana and Australia.
"Again, Fitch is aware that the company has instituted stringent restructuring programmes in some of its operations, but these may take time to show any benefit.
In the meantime, it appears likely that the South African rand will continue to trade strongly and that the US dollar gold price will maintain a trading range of about $420/oz to $435 per ounce for the next few months, not adding any advantage to Harmony's trading environment," it explained. 1 USD/5.95R
