  • @edel,

Minco Mining & Metals Corporation to Spin-Off White Silver
Mountain and Changes its name to Minco Gold Corporation
    =======================================================================

Minco Mining & Metals Corporation (TSX: MMM AMEX: MMK) (the "Company")
announces it will proceed with a reorganization and spin-off of its
White Silver Mountain Property to Minco Base Metals Corporation ("Minco
Base Metals") with the intention to build a strong base metals company
in China. The initial ownership of Minco Base Metals will mirror the
shareholder base of the Company, on a pro-rata basis, at the time of
the reorganization with the ratio and record date to be determined by
the Board of Directors of the Company. It is anticipated that Minco
Base Metals will seek a stock exchange listing and complete equity
offerings to further develop the White Silver Mountain property and
acquire additional base metals properties. The spin-off will be subject
to Shareholder approval at the Company's next Annual General Meeting &
Special Meeting along with meeting certain regulatory requirements.

Management believes that separating its assets into two companies, with
Shareholders holding proportionate interests in each company will
provide a significant opportunity to increase overall shareholder
value. The proposed reorganization would provide greater market
awareness and opportunities for the Company's White Silver Mountain
Property. In addition, the separation of the Company's Base Metals
property interests from the Company's Gold property interests will
provide both the Company and Minco Base Metals increased flexibility to
utilize and exploit their respective assets.

Concurrently, the Company has designated the Anba Property (held by the
Joint Venture Company on the White Silver Mountain project) as a
non-material project and does not intend to perform any further work on
the property. As a general policy, the Company does not intend to spend
significant amount of money on a property until it has received all
    required approvals.

In connection with the spin-off of Minco Base Metals, the Company
announces it has changed its name to Minco Gold Corporation to reflect
the Company's focus on gold projects in China. The Company's trading
symbol on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) will be changed to MGH.
The Company's trading symbol on the TSX remains unchanged (MMM). The
Company will commence trading as Minco Gold Corporation on the TSX and
AMEX, as MGH, on February 1, 2007.

Bre-X gold fraud trial result due on July 31
    Fri Feb 2, 2007 12:25 PM EST

TORONTO (Reuters) - A long-awaited verdict on a key player in the multibillion-dollar Bre-X Minerals Ltd. gold mining fraud will be delivered on July 31, an Ontario Court judge said on Friday.

John Felderhof, formerly the Calgary, Alberta, firm's chief geologist, is accused of insider trading and misleading investors. He sold C$84 million ($71 million) of Bre-X stock in 1996, just months before it was revealed the company's Busang gold deposit in Indonesia was worthless.
Lawyers for the Ontario Securities Commission, Canada's largest securities regulator, made final submissions in their case against Felderhof last summer.

Premier - Drilling expands gold zones in Red Lake - Major exploration program underway
Tuesday February 6, 9:27 am ET

    Shares Issued: 58,941,992
THUNDER BAY, ON, Feb. 6 /CNW/ - PREMIER GOLD MINES LIMITED (PG:TSX) is pleased to announce results from an ongoing diamond drilling campaign on the CP-Zone of the Bonanza Deposit and Rahill-Bonanza Project in the Red Lake Mining District of Ontario. Premier is excited by the progress made on the SW-trending structure, which confirms the following:

    - The CP-Zone is contained within a well-developed, strongly altered
deformation corridor, implying the host structure will continue to
extend to the southwest and at depth.
    - Multiple-mineralized shoots occur within the corridor, characteristic
    of the Bonanza Deposit signature.

Significant results from the program, active earlier in 2006, and again between mid-October and Christmas in 2006 where a total of 8 holes (06WB-116 to 123) and 4,188 metres of drilling was completed, are listed in Table 1.

This drilling has identified multiple mineralized sub-zones within the corridor. Highlight intersections include 12.2g/t Au across 12.0 metres and 14.3g/t Au across 5.0 metres (CW06019 and CW06022) from Goldcorp drilling earlier in 2006, and 11.56 g/t Au across 3.0 metres within a larger interval grading 4.29 g/t Au across 14.0 metres from hole 06WB-117. Other intercepts were variable, with grades up to 8.50 g/t Au and mineralized intervals up to 8.0 metres along the core length. True widths are estimated to be between 50% and 60% of the core length.
The CP-Zone is contained within the Rahill-Bonanza Project, being explored under a joint venture with Goldcorp Inc. (G:TSX, GG:NYSE), and subject to a "Letter of Intent" released on December 4, 2006. Under the terms of a Joint Venture (JV) Agreement, that is expected to close shortly, Premier and Goldcorp will explore the combined project area on a 50/50 basis. The JV property is strategically located along the prolific "Mine Trend", host to nearly 30 million ounces of gold (mined + reserves + resources) and sandwiched between the world class Red Lake Gold Mines (RLGM) to the east and the recent high grade discovery of Gold Eagle Mines Ltd. to the west.

    2007 Update

    -----------

Diamond drilling is currently active with two drills on the Rahill-Bonanza Project (RBP) however, the project team is seeking to activate up to four, including one underground drill. Two drills will be mobilized onto the ice of Red Lake to extend the CP-Zone further to the southwest and to test deeper targets proximal to the historic Wilmar Gold Mine workings.

The Joint Venture has earmarked a total of C$5 million for the RBP in 2007. Premier's portion of the commitment is C$3 million. The project team has identified 5 key target areas on which to explore during the year including:

    1. Test the CP-Zone progressively to the southwest with cross section drilling on approximately 75 m centres.

    2. Test targets related to and/or proximal to Goldcorp's Red Lake Gold Mines (RLGM) property situated immediately east of the JV property boundary.

    3. Test the main regional contact that hosts the Gold Eagle Mines Ltd. discovery and also migrates through the western portion of the JV property.

    4. Test targets related to the North Contact and Wilmar/West Granodiorite Zones.

    5. Provide a National Instrument (NI) 43-101 compliant resource estimate on the Bonanza Deposit.

Premier Gold Mines Ltd. is fully-funded to meet all exploration commitments on the Rahill-Bonanza Project during 2007.
    Underground Drilling

    --------------------

The JV has been informed that underground diamond drilling should begin during late Q1 or early Q2 from a deep (~1,875 m or 6,150 feet below surface) platform situated at the Campbell Complex (formerly Campbell Mine) of Red Lake Gold Mines. Two holes are planned to be drilled toward the southwest some 1,300 m each, the final 650 m of each hole passing through the JV property. These holes are being drilled immediately west of, and along strike from, the current mine zones to identify possible extensions and/or repetitions of fault structures, key rock-types and vein-material known to be related to mineralization at the RLGM, including the prolific high grade zones (HGZ).

Definition drilling required on the Bonanza Deposit to upgrade the mineralization in compliance with NI 43-101 is earmarked to begin during Q2, later than originally planned, due to warm winter weather and availability of additional diamond drills. This will push the completion of the resource estimate into Q4 of 2007.

A brief slideshow in 'pdf.' format, outlines key aspects of this press release and is available to be viewed in the "Rahill-Bonanza Project" area of the Premier Gold Mines Ltd. website at http://www.premiergoldmines.com.

On a separate note, the executive team of Premier Gold Mines Limited has been invited to participate in the opening of the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) on Wednesday, February 7th, 2007 at 9:30 am EST, to celebrate the listing of Premier on the TSX in August 2006. The event will be carried live on ROB-TV and CP24 television stations.

Geo., Red Lake Exploration Manager of Premier, is the Qualified Person for the information contained in this press release and is a Qualified Person within the meaning of National Instrument 43-101. Core is sent to Accurassay Laboratories for preparation and analysis - 2 assay-tonne fire assay with an AA finish on split NQ-sized drill core.

These include several in the Red Lake gold mining camp, two of which are operated in joint venture with Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G - News), and a strategic project located on the main Musselwhite Gold Mine trend (Goldcorp-Kinross).

The statements made in this Press Release may contain forward-looking statements that may involve a number of risks and uncertainties. Actual events or results could differ materially from the Company's expectations and projections.

    SAN.V MXD.V MKR.V TOE.V FRA.V QGX.TO MAR.TO GGC.V CMQ.V ORV.TO EXN.V SWG.TO BUF-U.V SOX.V WDO.TO

  • PUBLIC NOTICE ISSUANCE DATE: February 8, 2007
PUBLIC NOTICE EXPIRATION DATE: April 9, 2007

Notice of Proposed Issuance of an NPDES Permit to Idaho Cobalt Project, near Salmon, Idaho; public comment period: February 8 -- April 9, 2007

SUMMARY: The Director, Office of Water and Watersheds, EPA Region 10, is proposing to issue National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit No. ID-002832-1 to Formation Capital Corporation U.S. (Formation), pursuant to the provisions of the Clean Water Act, 33 U.S.C. § 1251 et seq. EPA invites public comment on the draft permit which will authorize the discharge of treated nondomestic wastewater from their proposed Idaho Cobalt Project (ICP), an underground cobalt mine, to Big Deer Creek, a tributary of the Salmon River.
The NPDES permit is a new source, as defined in 40 CFR 122.29(b), and is subject to new source performance standards. EPA's issuance of a new source NPDES permit is considered a major federal action subject to the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) at 40 CFR Parts 1500-1508, and EPA's NEPA implementing regulations at 40 CFR Part 6. Along with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ), EPA is participating in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process for the project as a cooperating agency, with the U.S. Forest Service as the lead federal agency. The Forest Service is public noticing the draft EIS for a 60 day period concurrent with this notice of the draft NPDES permit.

The draft NPDES permit contains both technology-based and water quality-based effluent limitations for pollutants of concern, along with administrative and monitoring requirements, as well as other standard conditions, prohibitions and management practices. A fact sheet has been prepared which sets forth the principle factual, legal, policy, and scientific information considered in the development of the draft permit.
