    Camiven urges government to reactivate mining activity - Venezuela

    Venezuela's mining chamber Camiven has urged the government to
    reactivate mining activity in the country in order to generate social
    and economic benefits from the healthy period the sector is currently
    enjoying around the globe, the chamber's executive director Luis
    Rojas told BNamericas.


    For now, large miners operating in Venezuela "are not doing much
    because of delays on environmental permits and a concession system
    that's being threatened," he said.


    "When a concession-based system is threatened, it's tough to make
    investments or to consolidate mining operations, let alone explore,
    which requires venture capital," he added.


    Faced with no clear signs from the Venezuelan government about the
    future of mining and the lack of a long-term mining plan, Rojas feels
    the government has not yet developed a policy for the sector.


    Last week, Camiven expressed the need for a national mining plan that
    would recognize the rights of investors and allow projects to be
    developed efficiently.


    However the sector is only aware of short-term measures for now, "and
    business does not prosper that way. Measures have to work like the
    mining business, long term, and that isn't happening," he said.


    Venezuela is host to several operations including the Choco 10 gold
    mine owned by Canadian Rusoro Mining (TSX-V: RML), and Anglo
    American's (LSE: AAL) Loma de Níquel mine along with gold operations
    run by state-owned Minerven.


    The country is also home to the 20.8Moz Las Cristinas gold deposit
    owned by Toronto-based Crystallex International (TSX: KRY) and the
    Las Brisas copper-gold project held by Canadian miner Gold Reserve
    (TSX, AMEX: GRZ), which contains 10.4Moz gold and 1.3Blb (589,670t)
    copper

    Gewisse Hedgfonds wurden gezwungen ihre PM Aktien vor Montag zu verkaufen.


    Selbst ARU hat es getroffen, nationalisierung ist ein hartes Wort mit dem die rumschmeissen.


    Das war ein "chickenrun" am Freitag.


    Passend dazu war der Bericht auf Reuter's wo Geruechte von Nationalisierung verbreitet wurden wegen Hecla die an Rusoro verkauft hat.

    Idaho-based Hecla Mining Company (HL.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) sold its subsidiaries in Venezuela for $25 million, the company said on Thursday, after months of speculation that the socialist government was preparing to nationalize its mines.


    President Hugo Chavez is on a nationalizing spree that has swallowed energy, steel and cement companies. For months he has toyed with the idea of taking a chunk of miners without ever fully revealing his intentions for the sector.


    In April, the environment ministry ruled that no new gold mines would be allowed in a reserve that houses the country's main projects, owned by Canada's Crystallex (KRY.TO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Gold Reserve (GRZ.A: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), the strongest steps yet taken against miners. :boese:


    Just days after the environmental rulings, a group of workers paralyzed operations at Hecla's Isidora gold mine demanding it be nationalized.


    Rusoro has also received attention from the government but seems to have better relations with officials than other companies. (Russia) :thumbup:


    Latin America as a whole is the world's favorite destination for mining investment. :D

    Venezuela puts nation's interests first in mining

    CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuela's environment minister said Saturday that the government will put national interests first in the mining sector and forbid mining in a biodiverse forest reserve that is home to two of the country's largest gold concessions.


    Minister Yubiri Ortega did not give a direct answer when asked if the government is planning to nationalize the mines. But she said Venezuela is "taking control" in order to "save and appropriate what is ours."


    The government will consider future underground mining concessions as well as those that are currently under revision, Ortega said. But it will not permit open-pit mines that cause environmental degredation and contaminate the country's water supply with cyanide and other toxic chemicals.


    She added that the government will also forbid mining in the Imataca Forest Reserve, which covers about 8.6 million acres (3.5 million hectares) and is rich with gold, diamonds, iron, bauxite and other minerals. It is also home to unique plant and animal species.


    Ortega said the government needs to "take measures" to avoid ruining the reserve's sensitive ecology, and complained that foreign companies and illegal miners have exploited Venezuela's gold, coal and diamond deposits and left only "garbage" behind.


    Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's socialist government has clashed with international gold-mining companies in recent months over permits to operate in the country's southern Bolivar state.


    In May, Crystallex International Corp. of Toronto said the Environment Ministry had denied it a permit for its Las Cristinas gold mine. The company estimates that Las Cristinas — located in the Imataca Forest — holds about 17 million ounces (480 million grams) of gold.


    Crystallex said in a statement on Tuesday that it has filed an appeal with the ministry. Vice President Richard Marshall could not be reached by telephone on Saturday, but he told The Associated Press in May that "this would be the final permit" to complete the mine's construction phase. The company had hoped Las Cristinas would start producing in 2010.


    Plans for the company's two other Venezuelan mines, Tomi and La Victoria, could be exhausted this year, Marshall said. Last year, Crystallex — which has been operating in Venezuela for 16 years — produced more than 33,000 ounces (935,000 grams) of Venezuelan gold.


    Also affected is Gold Reserve Inc. of Spokane, Washington, which announced in May that its 2007 permit to begin construction on the Las Brisas gold mining project — also in the Imataca Forest — had been rescinded. The company said in a news release that it is meeting with government officials to resolve the issue.


    On Thursday, Idaho-based Hecla Mining Co. announced a US$25 million deal to sell its Venezuela subsidiaries to Rusoro Mining Ltd. of Vancouver, British Columbia.


    Venezuela's mining ministry had said it was considering rescinding Hecla's concessions over a labor dispute at the company's underground Isidora gold mine outside the Imataca Forest.

Crystallex welcomes the opportunity offered by MinAmb to help create additional solutions to the extensive environmental damage that already exists due to illegal mining in the Las Cristinas area, and to improve the project in order to respond to issues raised by MinAmb.

    Bei KRY und GRZ habe ich nie verloren, nur kurzfristig, langfristig gesehen habe ich die Aktien die im Depot sind nun gratis aus den Gewinnen.
    Die Geschichte wiederholt sich meistens, bad news, boeser Hugo, Aktie faellt astronomisch, Panik, Eldo kauft, good news, Aktie steigt fast 60-80% danach.
    Das letzte mal war das mit dem Rebuttal, da gab es auch eine ploetzliche Erholung bis der Minister wieder nein sagte.
    Ich halte noch einige KRY und GRZ nun mit Gewinn von meinen Grundstock, den Batzen von GRZ ($ 1.30) und KRY ( $ 0.68 ) den ich am Freitag fuer die haelfte kaufte verkaufte ich gestern wieder.
    Der switch war mit langweiligen NEM's die so fad sind wie eine Oma. :tired:


    Was die Situation in Venezuela angeht habe ich ebenfalls meine Meinung auch im Krisenthread Venezuela geschrieben das alles ncht so heiss gegessen wird wie es gekocht wird.
    Ins fallende Messer zu greifen ist nicht jedermanns Sache, oft geht das auch schief. Selbst die St.Barbara faellt weiter, obwohl ich nur eine Aussie Aktie Sino Gold halte kaufte ich die SBM (40 cents) vor drei Tagen nach dem Value meinte die ist nun kaufreif.
    Das mit KRY und GRZ ist nur ein kleiner Trost wenn man die anderen anschaut die seit 9 Monaten im Keller rumlaufen und nicht hochkommen.
    Bei IMA und SWG, mein groesster Messergriff hier muss ich warten, wer weiss es koennten Jahre werden bis ich mal auf Gleichstand komme.
    Zumindest eine Freude, die beiden sind seit Wochen nun ziemlich stabil weil sie bereits vergewaltigt wurden vom Markt.
    Bereits erwaehnt, den Gewinn von Venezuela gleich gestern umgeschaufelt in einige HL, EDR, FVI, BCM gekauft.
    SST, SIL auch so ein Kopfweh, CDE, Genco und Sabina habe ich letze Wochen aufgestockt und viele SLV.


    Ich darf z.Zt. nur einen switch machen, meine Belehnung ist das doppelte als erlaubt ist jedoch man toleriert es noch ein 2-4 Wochen bis ich Notverkaeufe einleiten muss die ich hasse.
    Richtig, wer nicht wagt der gewinnt auch nichts, fuer mich war am Freitag ein grosser deal zwischen unbekannten die ebenfalls die news das Hecla raus ist aus Venezuela und die Hedgefunds gezwungen wurden bis Montag ihre KRY und GRZ zu verkaufen. Einer wie ich sammelte die auf und wo ein Verkauf stattfindet gibt es auch einen Kaeufer.
    Ich hatte nun 4 mal Dusel mit KRY, ob ich wieder Salsa tanze weiss ich noch nicht da es erstmal in den Urlaub geht und der Gewinn von den beiden locker alles bezahlt das ich eigentlich 6 Monate im Hotel leben koennte.Wie auch immer allgemein bei den Juniors gibt es nichts zu feiern, ich bin froh wenn ich ohne weiteren Druck von der Kreditabteilung meinen Urlaub in Ruhe verbringen kann.
    Z.Zt. siehts so aus das ich mit grossen Juniors und Seniors sowie EM ETF's immer noch 8% im minus bin, bei kleinen Juniors -12%, Energie/Diverses + 6%, und Uranminen knapp 50% im Keller.
    D.h. alle Aktien und ETF's sind ca. 12% im Minus, damit laesst es sich leben, ich bin immer noch am Startloch. ;) Ohne mein physisches wuerde ich alt ausschaun. :huh:
    Vielleicht klappt das wieder, Eldo geht auf Uralub, POG und POS steigt, die PM-Uran Aktien ebenso. (Mal schaun was passiert vom 30.Juni - 24.August)


    Ich wuensche Euch jedenfalls auch eine gute Hand und freue mich genauso wenn ihr gewinnt, egal wo und wie, wir verdienen das auch !!

    Ich glaube diesesmal wird nichts passieren, sondern erst wenn Du wieder da bist, aber dann heftig......SBM bleibe ich bei meiner Einschätzung dass hier das schlimmste vorbei sein müsste....soweit unter den Kurs der Kapitalerhöhug können sie den Kurs eigentlich nicht fallen lassen....ich denke dass ein Kauf um die 0,40 rum kein Fehler war auf mittelfristige Sicht.....aber wer weis das schon....habe gestern auch nochmal nachgelegt.....

    Milly, bei 8 millionen KRY Aktien Volumen gestern kein Problem. :D
    Der Schnitt bei KRY ist 3.2m Aktien ud bei GRZ 420.000 Stueck am Tag in New York.
    Im Schnitt ist es so das man die Regel einhalten sollte nicht mehr als 10% vom daily volume zu traden sonst gibt es zu starke Bewegungen nach oben und unten.
    Die Regel habe ich auch gestern eingehalten, mit einen Verkaufslimit natuerlich. :D

    Tja, etwas quer um die Ecke gedacht:


    Habe mal die Charts der beiden Wackelkandidaten angeschaut.
    Falls eine einigermaßen vernünftige Übereinkunft dort erfolgt, ist erheblich Spielraum nach oben.
    Ein Spieleinsatz könnte das wert sein......


    Wobei mir die Properties und Finanzausstatung von Gold Reserve / GRZ eher gefallen.
