Gold und Silber... Informationen und Vermutungen I

    Hat Hank Paulson "genug"?

Aus dem Midas vom 24. Mai:

Hank "the hammer" Paulson appears to be having difficulty finding anything that looks like a nail! A disgruntled and frustrated Treasury Secretary like Paulson could become a serious problem for the continuation of the gold manipulation scheme. A resignation would certainly be a death knell for the dollar as it bumps along an all time low support level.

    QUOTE

Paulson, Hobbled by Bush's Unpopularity, Scales Back Ambitions
By Rich Miller and Kevin Carmichael

May 24 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson came to Washington with a Wall Street reputation for overcoming all obstacles in the way of a deal. He may have found the one hurdle he can't surmount: George W. Bush's damaged presidency.

On issues ranging from defusing trade tensions with China to overhauling Social Security, the former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. chief executive officer is playing down the notion of breakthroughs. Instead, he's talking about laying foundations for his successors.

None of the challenges ``avail themselves to a quick fix, but all of them we can make progress on,'' Paulson, 61, said in an interview in Washington yesterday after talks with Chinese officials that he conceded resulted in only ``incremental'' gains…

    Marc Faber:

Bush and the Gang of Fools in Washington, DC have pretty much destroyed the dollar and one day soon the rest of the world will notice. We are already in a recession and soon the market will reflect what is going on. The probability of a general stock market crash between July and October is exceptionally high.

  • @SilV

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,go out and switch off for a while. =)

  • Zitat

    Original von Eldorado

So who the heck is selling like crazy at these levels?
The floor is scratching their heads. This sort of open interest build up is unprecedented and is leading to a gigantic move up or down.

Mächtig Up or mächtig Down?

Same ol´ story ahead?

    Deepcaster:

The Case that the takedown of strategic assets in general (and particularly crude oil) is yet to come is based on the evidence that much of the apparent deflation is likely engineered by the Fed and other Central Bankers-led Cartel to achieve their policy goals.

In any event, it is in the interest of The Central Banker Cartel to reduce the attractiveness of Tangible Assets in order to boost the attractiveness of their Treasury Securities and Fiat Currencies. It is apparent that this Cartel Interest is advanced through Markets Intervention.

    The War Against Tangible Assets

Indeed, maintaining the legitimacy of their Treasury Securities and Fiat Currencies is so important to the Central Bankers that they seem to continually to conduct an intense campaign against their main “competitors:” the key tangible assets - - the precious metals and strategic commodities.

The “competitors” are tangible assets, and gold and silver specifically (because gold and silver are historically the only “real” money - - all important fiat currency regimes have historically failed eventually), and the strategic commodities including especially crude oil.

From the Cartel’s perspective this “War” requires periodic attacks on the prices of precious metals and other strategic tangible assets so that these assets will not come to be seen as alternate stores of, and measures of, value.

However, on the crude oil and strategic commodities front in general, a significant takedown of those is yet to come. This comes as something of a surprise to Deepcaster, but on reflection not a great surprise...

Simultaneously, we expect another sharp takedown of Gold and Precious Metals prices in the near future. Thus Deepcaster will be carefully monitoring the fundamentals, technicals and especially the interventionals, for a signal the Golden Shoe is about to drop, again. At that point Deepcaster expects to have made recommendations which would lead to substantial profits on the short side.

We have now the final stage of the bubble but it can be very steep until it burst.

He does not know when the bubble will burst, maybe in 3-6 month ?

Geopolitical events can trigger a lot.

Look for assets which are depressed !

Also the stockmarket which has corrected in the middle east.

    He likes Asian Currencies.

When markets crash the Yen will go up.

In Euro term assets in the US are cheap, also Gold in real terms.

The US is driven by assets inflation.

If they print more it comes back as hyper inflation later.

"In fact, during times like these when futures gurus are seeing terrible portents of woe in gold CoT data, we like to buy gold stocks. The gold-futures being-used-to-manipulate-gold-stocks to-steal-from-the-little-guy theories only thrive when sentiment is bad enough for a bottom to likely be near."

Gold: The Next 30 Days Part III

Last week Gold was $20 below its price of May 18, 2006. Today it closed $6.60 above last year’s price. Silver has not moved over the week, rising 1c. Last year silver rose 2c over the week.

Although May 25th this year was quiet, last year Gold leapt $10.90 and the shares soared with the HUI rising from 312.03 to 328.10. Notice this year, we haven’t had a single good up day in weeks. Last year, sandwiched between the $36 loss on May 24th was a $16 rise on May 23rd followed by the $10 jump on May 25th. In comparison, Gold this month has been very very quiet. Is it wise to sell a quiet Gold market?

The Crash of 2006 took place in two distinct episodes. The first lasted two weeks (May 11 to May 24) and took Gold from $720 to $637 for a loss of $83 or 11.5%. Then Gold stood still for two weeks until June 8th when it began to fall again. By June 11th it had lost a further $75 or 11.8%.

Silver, as usual, was more volatile. The drops were quicker and sharper. In one week it dropped 17% to $12.42 then stabilized until June 6th when it crashed a further 22% to $9.60 in six trading days.

This year both Gold and Silver peaked earlier. So far Gold is down less than 5% from it’s mid April high and Silver less than 12%. Silver took seven months to return to the $13.24 level it lost on May 17th 2006.

I’ve updated my Table comparing Gold and Silver during the CRASH of 2006 with prices for this year. (chart) A

The sentiment in the Gold Community remains dismal, which from a contrarion point of view is bullish. Last week I looked at the Gold Shares. This week I’ve updated a Table on Silver Shares that I sent Midas in May 2005, see (chart) B

As one would expect, the share returns are all over the place. All but one of the above shares are above their May 2005 lows. That was an easy target. What is more interesting is the comparison with three years ago when Silver was at $7.03. Couer d”Alene is worth half what it was then despite the 83% rise in silver bullion. Very few of these silver miners have shown the expected leverage the shares usually offer. Pan American is only up 56% while Hecla is much worse at 2%. Think of it, the silver price almost doubles and the share price of a major silver producer is flat and another cut in half. Why?

The answer is a mix of sentiment and inflation in the mining sector. Mining costs are eating into both Gold and Silver miners’ margins. In a fiat world this is to be expected. We’re going through a process that is in some ways similar to that of the 1970’s. Without Gold as their Standard people are literally lost. Not understanding the true nature of the problem, but realizing that something is terribly wrong they experiment with different “hedges” .
Below I’ve lifted a Table used in a previous Café article I wrote entitled “Rancid Butter and Duck Decoys” see:
    http://www.lemetropolecafe.com…archParam=rancid%20butter

This table which was prepared by Salomon Brothers appeared in “Paper Money” by Adam Smith in 1980.

The most important thing to note in this table is the “1 Year” Column which shows gold up 104%. If we prepared a similar Table today and ranked Gold against Old Masters, Rare Stamps, Duck Decoys and other commodities like Copper or Nickel it would be near the bottom of the list. People want to protect their savings from confiscation through inflation. They just have not figured out (so far) that Gold is their answer.
So they speculate. Housing was a good example. It went up spectacularly and now it is in the process of collapse. What they are searching for but have not yet found is the most efficient way to protect their savings and that is where Gold shines. I won’t rewrite my previous article (that can be accessed at the Café website) but just repeat
    the final two paragraphs:

“How will this crisis end? Commodity prices have increased spectacularly. So have Duck Decoys. Gold is lagging. But Gold’s latent monetary advantages are still there, waiting, silently but with incredible explosive potency. Those quietly accumulating Gold, at these low prices, can at anytime force it higher. They can at current prices easily buy ALL central bank gold in the world. But that would stop the flow. Defeat their purpose.

The test will come. The Fed will have to decide between saving the Dollar and saving the Economy. When that happens only Gold will do.

And so we learn, by trial and error, what our grandparents knew and our parents forgot; that Gold has the lowest transition costs, that it does not require expert knowledge, that it travels well, that it is always saleable, that it will not go rancid like butter, crack like an egg, break like a ceramic, tear like a stamp or burn like a duck decoy. In short, nothing is as good as Gold. “ ;)

    Cheers from Auckland, Ed Wener

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Market analyst, international provocateur, and Al Jazeera commentator Max Keiser, who in December examined the gold price suppression scheme for Al Jazeera (http://www.gata.org/node/4600), has returned to examine the rigging of the financial markets in the United States, including devices like hedge funds, naked short selling, and the Plunge Protection Team.

Keiser's new report is called "Rigged Markets," and the "People & Power" program of Al Jazeera's English service began broadcasting it this week. The program includes interviews with two GATA consultants -- James Turk, founder of GoldMoney.com and editor of the Freemarket Gold & Money Report, and Rob Kirby of Kirby Analytics -- and GATA board member Catherine Austin Fitts, president of Solari Inc. and former assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Sprott Asset Management's chief investment strategist, John Embry, lands a few good blows in some recent commentary in Investor's Digest of Canada.

Embry quotes former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's approval, two years ago, of what has become the subprime mortgage lending catastrophe. And Embry notes the failure of the chief executive of the World Gold Council, James Burton, to stand up for the mining industry against the central banks and the bullion banks.

Embry's commentary is headlined "Expect a Try for a New Gold Record by Year-End," and you can find it at the Sprott Internet site here:
