Uranaktien: Minen, Explorer, Produzenten, Anwender

Wealth Discovers Significant New Uranium Occurrence at its San Jorge Basin Project, Argentina

Bororo Nuevo - Values in excess of 1% uranium or 23.58 lb/ton U3O8

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 2, 2007) - Wealth Minerals Ltd. (the "Company" or "Wealth") (TSX VENTURE:WML)(OTCBB:WMLLF)(FRANKFURT:EJZ) is pleased to announce that it has discovered a significant new uranium occurrence, termed "Bororo Nuevo", over an area of approximately 5 kilometres by 3 kilometres, as part of its large San Jorge Basin Uranium Project in southern Argentina.

Highly anomalous values from the initial sampling results at Bororo Nuevo range from detection limit to 23.58 lb/ton U3O8 (the upper detection limit) with the majority (70%) of the samples returning values in excess of 1.18 lb/ton U3O8. Mineralization remains open in all directions.

    San Jorge Basin Uranium Program

The results form part of a multi-disciplinary basin-wide exploration initiative utilizing basin-analysis, structural-interpretation, High Resolution Airborne Magnetic-Radiometric (HiRAM) geophysics and follow-up ground truthing by experienced uranium geologists targeting world-class, high-grade uranium mineralization in the unexplored San Jorge Basin, southern Argentina. As a result of this initiative, a total of 120 targets were generated for field checking and a total of 1,500 samples were collected.

The program has been extremely successful in locating new uranium occurrences. Prior to the beginning of Wealth's program there were 16 known occurrences within the Basin. To date, of the 120 targets screened, Wealth has discovered new uranium occurrences on 86, of which Bororo Nuevo is the highest ranked. The results from an additional 10 targets show moderately anomalous uranium values, and will be followed up with additional field work The results of the sampling from the remaining 109 targets, although often successful in identifying a new uranium occurrence, are not deemed worthy of further follow-up work at this time.

    Bororo Nuevo Property

At the Bororo Nuevo Property at least seven separate mineralized outcrop clusters (measuring up to a maximum of 500 metres by 500 metres) were discovered within a uranium fairway measuring about 5 kilometres long by up to 3 kilometres wide. Mineralization remains open in all directions.

Mineralization is located near the base of the Cretaceous age Chubut Group in approximately the same stratigraphic position as the Cero Solo uranium deposit (quoted resource of approximately 10 million pounds U3O8). Visible uranium mineralization with extremely high radiometric counts is hosted within multiple horizons of conglomerate, sandstone and tuff and varies from 0.5 to 1.5 metres in thickness.

The initial 79 characterization reconnaissance samples were collected from mineralized and un-mineralized material - that is, from outcrops which had obvious anomalous radiometric readings and visible uranium minerals as well as material which exhibited key pathfinder alteration.

Of the 79 samples, 70% (55 samples) returned values greater than 1.18 lb/ton U3O8 (500 ppm uranium), 58% (46 samples) returned values greater than 2.36 lb/ton U3O8 (1,000 ppm uranium), 42% (33 samples) returned values greater than 4.72 lb/ton U3O8 (2,000 ppm uranium), 23% (18 samples) returned values greater than 9.44 lb/ton U3O8 (4,000 ppm uranium) and 11% (9 samples) returned values of 23.58 lb/ton U3O8 (10,000 ppm uranium), being the upper detection limit. Those samples returning values at the upper detection limit have been sent for further analysis to determine the actual uranium values.

Laboratory results were received in parts per million uranium. The conversion factor used to convert parts per million uranium to pounds per short ton U3O8 is 1.179, which was verified with the Saskatchewan Research Council (ppm uranium x 1.179 equals ppm U308; 10,000 ppm uranium equals 1% equals 20 lbs/ton uranium).

The mineralization at Bororo Nuevo, as well as at other occurrences which the Company has located on its large property holdings in the San Jorge Basin, appear to conform to the "Tabular Sandstone Hosted Type" model similar to many found in the New Mexico area of the Colorado Plateau Uranium Districts of the Western United States.

In light of these initial encouraging results, the Company has entered into option agreements to acquire additional exploration licences ("cateos") - see below - and continues to negotiate to acquire additional ground in the San Jorge Basin and other promising areas.

Option Agreements - San Jorge Basin Properties

In connection with its ongoing exploration program in the San Jorge Basin, the Company has also negotiated options to acquire an interest in additional cateos in Chubut, as follows:

    1. pursuant to an option agreement dated March 13, 2007 between the Company and two South American individuals, the Company has the option to acquire a 100% interest in and to 20 cateos in consideration of the issuance of an aggregate of 50,000 shares, as to 10,000 shares 21 days after TSXV acceptance of the agreement and as to an additional 10,000 shares on each of the first, second, third and fourth anniversaries of the date of such acceptance;

    2. pursuant to an option agreement dated March 13, 2007 between the Company and two South American individuals, the Company has the option to acquire a 100% interest in and to 20 cateos in consideration of the issuance of an aggregate of 50,000 shares, as to 10,000 shares 21 days after TSXV acceptance of the agreement and as to an additional 10,000 shares on each of the first, second, third and fourth anniversaries of the date of such acceptance; and

    3. pursuant to an option agreement dated March 13, 2007 between the Company and a South American individual, the Company has the option to acquire a 100% interest in and to 11 cateos in consideration of the issuance of an aggregate of 50,000 shares, as to 10,000 shares 21 days after TSXV acceptance of the agreement and as to an additional 10,000 shares on each of the first, second, third and fourth anniversaries of the date of such acceptance.

Each of these option agreements is subject to acceptance for filing by the TSXV.

    Director Retires

The Company also announces the retirement of Jerry Pogue as a director of the Company, effective April 24, 2007. The directors would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Pogue for his valuable contributions to the growth and development of the Company and his hard work and dedication on behalf of the Company and its shareholders over the past few years.

    Qualified Person and QA/QC Controls

James M. Dawson, P. Eng., Wealth's consulting geologist and a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101, has supervised the preparation of the scientific and technical information that forms the basis for this news release. Mr. Dawson is not independent of Wealth by virtue of being a shareholder and the holder of stock options.

The San Jorge Basin Project work program is supervised by James M. Dawson, Wealth's consulting geologist, who is responsible for all aspects of the work, including the quality control/quality assurance program. On-site personnel at the project rigorously collect and track samples which are then sealed and shipped to Alex Stewart Assayers (ASA) for analysis. ASA's quality system complies with the requirements for the International Standard ISO 9001:2000. Analytical accuracy and precision are monitored by the analysis of reagent blanks, reference material and replicate samples. Quality control is further assured by the use of international and in-house standards. Finally, representative blind duplicate samples are forwarded to ASA for additional quality control.

  • Grandey admits Cigar Lake mistakes

    Murray Lyons
    The StarPhoenix

    Saturday, May 05, 2007

Cameco Corp. president and CEO Jerry Grandey admitted Friday the company's operation of the Cigar Lake uranium mine, which flooded in October, "did not meet expectations."

Cameco is promising a massive overhaul of procedures following a "root cause" study into two floods at Cigar Lake last year.

A report, done for Cameco by an independent third party, has been delivered to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). The company released the report Friday.

Grandey told investment analysts on a conference call Friday that the report identifies a number of root causes of the October flood, including failure to follow procedures in shoring up development tunnels.

"In the period leading up to the flooding, we made a number of decisions at Cigar Lake based upon assumptions the ground conditions in the tunnel were better than they were," he said.

"Together, these decisions and assumptions contributed to the water inflow."

A separate report on an earlier flood in April concluded Cameco had failed to identify a major underground water source in the site chosen to sink the No. 2 shaft. That shaft had to be abandoned. The root cause report into that flood concluded neither Cameco nor its contractor had identified risk scenarios, nor did they have necessary controls in place to prevent the flooding of the shaft.

"In both of these events, I'm disappointed to tell you we made mistakes," Grandey said. "Our performance did not meet expectations.

"This is not acceptable to me and it is certainly not acceptable to our employees."

Several financial analysts participating in the conference call lambasted Cameco. One called the report a "whitewash," and another suggested the problem wouldn't be corrected by a mere tightening of procedures.

William Vogel, an analyst with Harbor View Growth Equity Management in Connecticut, said Cameco appeared to have a "lax" corporate culture. He said he would have expected the company would "have fired a lot of people," considering that lives were at stake in the mine.

"I don't think you have a standards problem. I think you have a people problem," Vogel said.

In reponse, Grandey says Cameco is putting new management into place and creating a separate division for development projects such as Cigar Lake. These will be managed separately from the mines that are producing uranium.

Grandey says this will ensure a "culture change that is required" will be made at Cigar Lake.

"In the final analysis, the systems were there, they just weren't being adhered to and implemented," Grandey said. "That's not something that we're particularly proud of, but the first response is the management structural changes we're putting in place."

Analyst Greg Barnes of TD Newcrest asked Grandey on the conference call whether he feared Cameco would be sued by its minority partners in Cigar Lake, led by French state-owned nuclear company Areva and several Japanese electrical utility companies that have held at stake in Cigar Lake for several decades.

"None of that can be ruled out," Grandey said. "I think right now all partners are focused on remediation and getting this mine into development and into production.

"From my perspective, I don't think we need the distraction, taking us away from that primary mission. But those are decisions others would make."

"The uranium sector isn`t at a point to link the NYMEX futures contract to the physical material. This highlights the difference between trading a material used to make both electricity and bombs and, say, corn or soybeans, since a federal agency -- the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission -- has to license a facility merely to store uranium."

Energy Metals in Exclusive Negotiations Regarding Potential Sale of Company
Friday May 18, 3:59 pm ET

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(MARKET WIRE)--May 18, 2007 -- Energy Metals Corporation (Toronto:EMC.TO - News)(NYSE Arca:EMU) announces that it is in exclusive negotiations with respect to a potential sale of the company.

@ linar ..

Kurs aktuell 17,97 USD

Und das ist erst der Anfang! Wer kommt also in Frage EMC/EMU zu kaufen ?
Let the Battle begin!

    Uranium Buying Frenzy
    May. 21/07

A successful bid for Energy Metals gives instant size and investor recognition to any winner . There is always a need to place yourself above the noise of the market.

Speculators will move in Monday. May 21

In any case hedge funds and private equity as well as speculators will see the potential of the type of bids and counter bids that propelled INCO to ever higher prices. The first indication of that scenario should show itself on Monday, May 21 when the American markets are open and the Canadian are closed for a holiday. Canadian markets will react to the news and the U.S. trend the next day.

We are all aware of the tremendous pools of capital available for these types of opportunities. This money will see little risk at entering at prices prior to any rival offer and will also focus on the "next" takeover candidate.

    The next news release -
Further interest and speculation will bubble when the potential buyer is named. Normally, hedgers sell the acquirer and buy the target company.

What To Do - if (like the AMP Portfolio) you hold Energy Metals

    1) Keep most of your position
Don't sell all your holdings as dawn breaks - that is panic, not wisdom. Short positions have to cover and are not likely to add much on the short side until the offer is detailed and released - let them panic and buy. The news stories attract new investors.

    2) But - don't be a pig

Decide what price you would accept. You can't predict the final or best price possible. Don't be left holding a bag if the takeover comes to nothing.
How long have you held the stock.- protect your profits by taking some off the table when you see a " good enough " price. Rothchild said he always sold too early. Rival bids may push the stock to overvalued levels but these are sophisticated players and they aren't going to push the price to the moon. Don't live in a dream world of $100 price predictions.

Depending on the size of your position you can sell in pieces if the takeover drives the price up and rival bids actually to appear.

Plan Ahead - What Will You Buy Next
As we have discussed, ad nauseum to some - there are only a limited number of producers and near term producers.
I am looking at reinvestment of most of the sale proceeds in the “others" on that list; namely equal division into

    1) SXR - Uranium One - (SXR on Toronto)
    2) Denison Mines (DML on Toronto - DNN in the U.S.)
    3) Paladin (PDN on Toronto)
    4) Energy Fuels (EFR on Toronto)

I added Energy Fuels to the AMP Portfolio on Friday

Uranium Market Continues to Struggle for Price Transparency

......Over the past year, the combination of a sharp uranium price rise accompanied by the entry of new uranium producers has probably obscured price transparency instead of providing more transparency......
.....In mid-town Manhattan, near Grand Central Station, a lesser known ‘commodity exchange,’ run by New York Nuclear, offers screen trading every Wednesday morning between 7:30 A.M. and 9:30 A.M. This is for the real thing – the physical delivery of U3O8. The processed uranium is offered for delivery within a 30-day period at a licensed uranium conversion facility......
.....“We have all categories as players,” New York Nuclear’s Joe McCourt told StockInterview.com. Those who have signed up to trade physical uranium on his online screen system include uranium producers, hedge funds, fuel brokers and utility fuel managers. “These are the major players in the physical uranium market,” McCourt added.
Our chat with Joe McCourt was quite enlightening. Later in an email exchange with Uranium One chief executive Neal Froneman, we were told Joe is a ‘heck of a nice guy.’ Others in the industry echoed these sentiments.........
